I have Blue cross blue shield of IL and I am just starting the process for lapband. The University of Iowa Hospital has contacted my insurance and confirmed that this surgery is covered. As of Jan 4 I will be expecting a call from them to set up an evaluation. Beyond that I have no idea what path I will need to follow. I have been very overweight my whole life and do not foresee any reason why I would not be deemed as medically neccessary. Crossing my fingers!
