I think it is awesome that teenagers like me have the ability to do something about our wieght. I know from personal experience that there is a lot of cruel people out there that make fun of someone because their different. Thats why I looking into getting the band by my senior graduation so I can leave feeling good. Lastly I wanted to say good luck to any teenager who decides to get the bad. This is has been a wonderful experience finding a website with people in similar situations like myself. my parents especially my mother has been nothing but supportive. Hello everyone I am 17 years old and have been over weight all my life. I know I'm young and it may seem like I have all the time in the world to lose the weight but unfortunety I have been trying for years. I was over 330 pounds in the 7th grade (i was about 13). I just feel my life was never really me so after a friends mom told me about the band I started looking into it more. good luck on your journey. oh and I am reading this book by Ariel Ortiz Lagardere titled Lap-Band For Life: the complete patient guide to success with the Lap-band. So far it has been very informative. It talks about the risks and how much safer it is to the other surgeries. I can't stop thinking about it. Samantha

hello my name is Samantha. I am just starting the process and was wondering how hard was to find a surgeon that activtly does the lap band. I found a few but I don't know how to go about contacting them because they have done them at different hospitals.
