Hi everyone, Nicole, congratulations again. Your day sounds wonderful and a great weekend with the new hubby before he left--that is so cool. I went for nearly a 4 mile walk today along the Miners Ravine trail in Roseville, its so beautiful outside and it follows the creek so its great scenery. I feel a little less guilty for eating so much crab last night and the multiple jello shots I had....I stayed away from the pasta and bread but made up for it in crab and jello shots! lol. Does anyone know if you have to make an apt for the pre-op ekg? I did my blood work today but cardiology was closed. Not sure if I can just walk in and have the test done. Hey Laurel, how are you doing? Your getting so close.

Going to a crab feed tonight! Wish me luck......:wink2:

Great things happening around the board this past couple days...lots of weight loss, wedding, job interviews, etc! Awesome news. John, I get kinds grossed out thinking about the pureed stage, I hope some of these ideas will work for you! I had a bad day today, all my usual food just did not sound appealing so took the boys out to dinner and I went to Habit Burger...got a burger wrapped in lettuce and even ate a few fries and onion rings. It was so good but I am miserable now...feel really guilty as well as bloated. I hope this is a good lesson for me to get back on track. I was able to reschedule my physc apt for the 23rd but they won't promise I can see Liz that day, not sure why, but I am hoping it works out. They ordered my labs and ekg and said I could do those here in Roseville so that makes me happy! Everyone continue working hard! Nite, nite.

Great Laurel! You are progressing and the next few days will hopefully move fast. I had to cancel my physc apt tomorrow as everyone in the office is out so I can't be gone too! I left them a message and I hope they get it and call me with a new date. I really want to get a physc/case mgr apt on the same day--I hate missing so much time at work. Are they good about returning calls for rescheduled apts?

Um, 10 year history....hope nothing I don't know about is in there...lol My eating disorder is that I just love cookies! Thanks, I feel better.
-
Hubby doesn't think I will pass my physc apt Thursday....lol he's so funny! What should I expect this apt to be like?
-
Nicole, That bite infection sounds horrific! Sorry you have to have such an ordeal the week of your wedding! Hope it feels better today.

John, 100 pounds in a year! That is absolutely fabulous. Since I am new I don't know your history but from the couple band failures you had it looks like you finally are on the road to a tool that works for you. That is so awesome. Pureed foods sound absouletly disgusting to me...i think the earlier stages sound so much better. Make sure and pass any great reciepes along...lol oh, and Dr Park is going to be my surgeon.

Tam, congrats on your loss and your new place! All these life changing events going around are so exciting! Hope all is well with everyone!

Hi everyone! I'm back from Richmond and meeting Dr. Park. It was a great visit and Dr Park was very informative. She was pleased with my loss thus far--down 20 since orientation and she is moving me forward through the process as long as each visit I am losing. I was able to get a phsyc apt for this Thursday. Liz wasnt in today to schedule with her. I really want to do those 2 apts on the same day as it would be so much easier than traveling back and forth since I am coming from Sac. They are going to talk with Liz tomorrow and maybe they will reschedule it for a time when I can do both. Oh, and I have decided to do the sleeve procedure. I didn't want to do such an invasive procedure but the trips back and forth to Richmond would be such a hardship that I think in the long run this is a better way for me. Thanks Lee and John for your help. John, I am still going to give you a call, I just got tied up yesterday enjoying the sunshine. I am thankful that I found this group as your words, talk, advice, and support have been a big help for me. I hope you guys let me stick around this chat room.

Congrats Nicole! That is so cool and what a life changing month your gonna have! Best of wishes to you and your future hubby! Post some pics of the wedding.

I see Dr Park Monday, its my first apt with anyone since my orientation. Will she set my surgery date then or does that come later (assuming she likes my weight loss thus far)? Do I have to complete the other stuff before I get a tentative date?

Hi everyone...weekend is here and these are always the hardest for me but I see Dr. Park Monday morning so I am trying to be real good and hopefully will be 20 lbs down since 1/26 so I can move through the process. I have my walks up to 2 miles--this weekend I hope to get a 3 mile walk in if the weather cooperates. If its raining I am gonna hit the inside of the mall walk. Lee/John, you guys are doing great! I actully am thinking about switching to the sleeve. I am going to read more about it before Monday and I might send you a p/m if I have questions, I hope that is ok. Nicole/Tamara, you guys are doing great also! Keep up the good work, you are both inspiring to me. Been a weird week and I hope all the turmoil around us passes quickly...a couple friends at work were squabbling, my two sons were fighting, their school had 6 fights this week, students protesting all around and little turmoil in this forum...must be a full moon or something! Anyway, blessings to all and I am learning from ALL of you so I hope you guys don't break up the group and everyone sticks around. Wish me luck for Monday with Dr. Park! I am so excited!

Hi Beverly, Congratulations on soon to be banded. I meet the surgeon on Monday so hopefully I will have my date. There are lots of great people on here at all different stages so stick around and ask them your questions...they are very supportive and knowledgable on this band thing. Who is your surgeon and how much weight did you have to lose prior to surgery? Wishing you the best on your surgery, keep us posted. Alison

So, I am chosing only to tell my immeidate family; At work when I am gone and someone asks where I was, what should I say? I can't say female surgery as I had that last year....hernia, gladder, etc? I am close to some people at work and feel guilty not telling them but it would get around and I don't want people talking...what should I say?

Tina, I too am so sorry for all that your going through; it doesn't make sense to me either. I hope that this tough time for you ends soon--band wise and work wise. All this budget stuff is just crazy and the turmoil that it puts empolyees and their families in is just nuts--and in your case these children that are already in unfornatue situations are going to suffer more. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers for all to work out!
-
Good idea Laurel! We could all put some pressure Kaiser! I am in Roseville area and traveling anywhere around around Sacto would be so much better than Richmond.... Tina, let's hope that everything works out properly for you--I am new to all this so I don't understand all the reasons but if you are the paying member they would listen a little better, especially if its just refilling what they took out.
-
Heather you look wonderful! Great job and keep up the dedication, its inspiring!

Awesome Ashley! Whoo hooo for all the good news today! Your son is doing great and you are moving to the next steps. :w00t:

Morning everyone. Next year I will know to just donate some cash to the girl scouts and NOT to buy any darn cookies! I thought I could resist but I did break down and ate a few. They tasted so good but the guilt I had following tasted horrible. Sounds like the few that have checked in today are doing good. Next month I am going to lunch! lol

Soda? Drinking while eating?
Ali2010 replied to ccboob531's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
From the instruction I received at my orientation they said never carbonated drinks as they make the pouch stretch. And drinking while eating pushes the food through the pouch to quickly and you don't keep the fullness feeling. NO straws either as it brings in to much air and expands the pouch too! These are lifestyle changes that we have to be able to live with in working with the band. You can do it--its just a new way of thinking! -
Tina (I hope that's the right name) I love the way you analize your options and lay it all out; that's just what I would do too. I don't have any advice for you except do what you feel is right in your heart and keep focused. You certainly have given me things to think about. Good luck and I pray that the right answer comes your way.

Hi everyone, Great to meet some of you today and learning from the ones that have gone through this already and to talk to the ones that are preparing for surgery like myself. Thanks for all you guys do! Ended up being a nice sunny day this afternoon and I went for a nice walk. Yeah!

Have fun Tamara, drive safe--weather is crazy. You will make good choices, I have faith in you.

Pre-Op - how long and success??
Ali2010 replied to breesue's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today is 30 days on the prediet; what type of diet are you on? Mine is high Protein and 1200 calories a day. I have done very well and lost 15 pounds. Eating the protien part of the meal first have really helped me stay full longer and keeping away from the carbs has been very helpful. Carbs lead to craving more carbs. I have had to learn to like foods that I didn't eat before like hard boiled eggs, cottage cheese, and tuna. Good Luck...you can do it. The support you find here will be helpful.:cursing:
