I went to have my first fill with DR Nottle. When I was called in the room it wasn't DrNottle but some other Technician I have never seen..he tried to fill it but couldn't find the port. He told me that the first time was always the hardest and it would get better in time. After 5 trys and alot of pain later he gave up and called dR Nottle in telling him he couldn't put the needle into the port. Then DrNottle tried and after about 10 try's and swapping a big needle to an ever bigger one he had no luck!! He told me that this happens and that he would need to do it via xray. I went to get it done with the xray and he still had no luck. He was baffled and told me this was very rare and that they almost always have luck with the xray. I had heaps of questions and by the time the nurse bandaged me up he was gone!! He quickly spoke to my fiancee saying that he would get his receptionist to arrange for me to see him as he is going to have to cut me open and see what is wrong. I am so scared..I don't know what is going on, I feel like I am left high and dry with no answers. His receoptionst didn't get back to me so we had to chase them up..When we finally got through she told me that it could be a faulty band and that we had to spend a further $1100 to get it fixed and god knows how much if it is really a faulty band!! We already paid over 12k and there are still more bills coming from the hospital, anethisist!! I just can't believe this..I didn't think that I would have to go through all this stress!! It's even more stressfull when your own doctor won't tell you what is going on, we had to find out through his receptionist!! Sorry for rambling on..I just needed to vent!!

Hi guys...Thank you so much for your replys. I'm sorry I haven't been on lately..Been so busy!! I went to the hospital last week to see what is going on..Dr Nottle was so helpful and kind to me. He knew I was scared and he was kind enough to make me feel comortable. They didn't have to cut me up thank goodness...He wanted to try and fill it one more time before he opened me up and it worked!!! I feel so relieved. I didn't have to pay for anything, which was also good as I'm still getting bills from the hospital!!! I have lost a total of: 16kgs since my op!! I'm feeling so much better now!!

Hi Susanah..I didn't have private Health Insurance so I had to fork out 12k for my op!! We had to take it out of our mortgage..I was hesitant about it but my fiancee finally put his foot down!! lol and made the decision abit easier..The way he put it was: I'd rather pay that money now for your health rather than paying that for your funeral!! That was an eyeopener for me big time..I didn't realise just how much my weight is affecting my health. Thank Goodness I don't have any major health issues at the moment. So I don't feel bad about spending that money..my health is more important than anything. I can't wait to loose all the weight!!
-

I would love to come. Can we bring partners? as I don't know how to drive to Frankston by myself. -
Thanks Kelly and Betty..I still have the pains but they are not as intense as before. My stomach feels like it has a weight in it..hopefully it will go away soon!!

Hi I had my banding done last Saturday and I'm still getting really bad gas pains in the chest and my left shoulder is so sore..I couldn't sleep last night as the pains in my shoulder were really bad. I take panadol solubles but it doesn't last. Did anyone have these pains and how long did they last and what did you take to help with the pain?
-
Thanks guys..It's good to know that I'm not alone in all this. I have tried the hotwater bottle it works for a bit and the soluble panadol does nothing. I might pop in to my pharmacy and see what they say. I can't wait until the pain goes...The shoulder pain is the worst than anything!!

Hi Susannah..I live in Melbourne too over in Hillside (western suburbs). I had my lapband done last Saturday (9/9/06) by DR Peter Nottle at the Avenue Private Hospital. I'm still in a bit of pain but I keep on thinking it will all be worth it in the end. As for those idiots that called out of their cars, I know it's hard but I have had that happen to me too...just ignore them they are not worth getting upset over. Just stay positive and look forward to your banding and your future. hugs mary
