I pulled a muscle about 3 days after surgery. Apparently its fairly easy to do when you are recovering! The pain has been horrible, but 3 weeks later I'm starting to feel better. My surgeon says exercise will help. I feel you on the weight loss. I've lost almost 15lbs since surgery. Now granted - I lost 50+ lbs BEFORE surgery, but I really thought I would have lost a little more since I've been eating less.

I do think some Christians seem to be more judgemental than most Pagans! And since I don't believe in hell then I guess I'm safe -
Congrats Kyethra! :crossed: that it is your gallbladder and that you can get some relief soon

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
lilnena replied to TracyinKS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi again! Well I went to see Jennifer this evening, and she looks great! We had an awesome surgeon and her incisions look awesome! We walked around the ward 2 times while I was there to help her try to relieve some gas to get rid of the shoulder pain. She is in some discomfort from the surgery, but they are keeping her pretty doped up Just wanted to let you all know how awesome she is doing, and she can't wait to go home tomorrow -
Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Hi Everyone! I'm a friend of Jennifer's (Jennifur). I got a phone call around 10:30 that she made it through surgery and that everything went as expected. :clap2: I'm planning on going to visit her once she gets into a room, so I'll be back with another update then! Good luck to all the new Bandsters!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Its amazing how different bodies react differently to the surgery. After surgery I ended up gaining about 7lbs due to fluids. After I got home I didn't lose ANY weight that first week. Once I started adding in more calories the weight slowly began to creep off. Now that I'm on mushies I've lost just about 12 lbs! (Before surgery I lost 54lbs)

I'm so happy to hear your first fill is working, but a big  for the PB! I hope to never experience that -
I'm sorry that you still aren't feeling better, but I'm glad to hear its a stomach bug and not something worse
-
Hi everyone! Its great hearing all your post op stories! I ended up going to mushies 2 days early. I just couldn't take another liquid meal My nutritionist was ok with me doing it though. I've been eating lots of things like eggs, and farina, and some softer cheeses. It all tastes sooooo good. Although I've found that my pouch must be WIDE open, because I'm able to eat about 4-6 oz of farina at a time???? I've lost about 10 lbs since surgery, although the first week I didnt' lose anything. Since I added more calories the weight has been coming off a lot easier.

Thanks for the details!!!!! Glad it wasn't too painful and I can't wait to feel restriction -
Good evening everyone! Welcome to the new thread I agree the title is perfect. So here I am, I have slowly been leaving liquids in favor of more mushies :girl_hug: Last week I had soft boiled eggs and protein drinks, and today I attempted thinned down oatmeal. I was only able to drink about 2oz, but it really filled me up :clap2: As for pain, I'm still having it, although I'm down to 1 pill every 6 hrs and I was able to go 7.5 hrs before taking a pill just now. Hope everyone else is doing well

How long has it taken most people to lose the extra fluids?
-
Xray chic, call back and ask to speak to Stephanie in Dr Singh's office. Once I spoke with her I got a phone call the same day from Ilana. From when I spoke to Ilana she said it was ok to have thinned down yogart, or Protein supplement drinks, but to keep it down to 1/4c of either. I did cave and have a soft boiled egg, but I kept it the consistancy of the yogart smoothie I was having. Just adding those few things in for me made it so much easier to stay with Clear liquids

Yes it was hard to see the scale go up I lost 54-56lbs depending on when I weighed in before surgery. This morning I'm down to 260, so I'll take it I'd love to lose some more though. So week #2. Lets see - I woke up to some thrush I'm still having intense pain in my lower stomach which according to my dr is from where they put the instruments in. I'm sick and tired of clear liquids and so grateful my nutritionist gave me permission to have some protein supplements! Besides that the port is ok, and my incisions don't hurt - just some itching
-
I wish I had lost more. So far I've just lost the 8lbs that I gained due to the IV fluids. I'm actually hoping to still be retaining fluid :welldoneclap:
-
Yes, high protein yogart has made a huge difference with the hunger pains.
-
I have had the fluid gain as well. I was about 8lbs heavier from the IV. I'm now down to just about my pre surgery weight now. Well actually down lower!
-
I've also been swallowing pills since the day after surgery. I really haven't had any issues with the pills. So I spoke to a nutritionist yesterday and she Oked me to start on some yogart or protein supplements to help me with the hunger pangs I've been having. I had a 1/4c of yogart smoothie last night and it was sooooo good! I'm really dying for an egg though

A thread for super-sized bandsters - starting BMI over 50?

Well I actually had a little mental breakdown yesterday due to cravings Hysterical crying because I wanted an egg or oatmeal or something substantive in my stomach! -
Lori that is so wonderful that you aren't feeling pain. Wish my pain would go away already
-
I'm having some awful cravings. One thing I've heard is to get something you love, chew it, and then spit it out without swallowing. I'm tempted to try that I also really, really, really would love to suck on an english muffin after smelling my husband have one yesterday morning
-
I called and left a message yesterday - nobody has called me back yet :bolt:

Well my surgery was the first day of spring. I was supposed to come home Thursday but wasn't cleared to drink liquids until after noon. They finally brought me fluids around 1:30 which is when I found out I could only drink about 2-3 oz at a time, and then found out I couldn't leave until after I was able to keep down 32 oz of Water. I wasn't able to do that Thurs before 7PM so I stayed an extra night! The pain has been a lot more intense than I originally expected. My port site was the most painful up until last night. As of last night the incisions all have toughened up and don't feel as tender, but I think I overdid it Sunday with taking a walk at Walmart I'm having an intense pain on my right side about 3 inches from my belly button incision and about 5 inches down from my port site. I called the surgeon's office and spoke with the on-call doctor who believes it is perfectly normal to have the areas of pain change as I get more mobile and do more, so he wants me to go back to taking 2 percocet every 4-6 hours instead of 1 like I have been doing. I also have found that there is NO WAY I can sleep in my bed. After 2 days of it, and having to get up every 3-4 hrs to urinate, I need to stay in my chair with the recliner which I find easier to deal with. Well I think I've reached my breaking point with this stupid liquid diet. I just can't stand just having broth and Jello and clear stuff. I want something SUBSTANTIVE in my stomach. I'd kill for an egg - and I want to make scrambled eggs with skim milk so badly, but my husband is such a stickler for the 2 week diet. I'm sitting here crying because I can't eat what I really want. Doesn't help that I dreamed of eating a bacon egg and cheese biscuit from McDonalds. And of eating home fries from my favorite diner. I would kill for some stir fried veggies right now - which is funny because I don't usually like veggies. I just want something DIFFERENT. If they want me tdrink milk then they are going to have to let me put some chocolate in it, because I can't stomach plain milk. *sigh* Just feeling sorry for myself *lol* I've been keeping to a 4-6 hr regime for the pain meds. The new pain I'm having is just intolerable though. Even with the pain meds I still feel it. However the doc on call said it is normal and to just increase the pain meds if I need to, but then I'm worried about running out of the pills *lol*
