I started thinking about the lapband about 4 years ago when living in Boston.  I went through all the steps but moved to NC before the surgery.  I held off on following up thinking things would even out and I would lose weight.  But each year the weight increased.  I finally decided on the surgery in Nov 2009.  My surgery day arrived but I woke up not having the lapband.  My doctor had to remove a tumor on my stomach.  For a few days I was sweating the pathology report... finally came back benign.   We rescheduled my date for Dec 2, 2009.   Now it is almost 4 weeks and I have already lost 23 lbs!  i am very encouraged and motivated. I look foward to feeling good again.
