I had my surgery on February 9th and over the last 3 days or so I have developed a very bad pain in my upper back. I have read about people getting this pain on their left side, but mine is on the right. I called my doctor and he said it isn't gas but he doesn't know what it could be. Has anyone experienced this pain? It's slightly to the right of my spine in the upper back. It doesn't change when I breathe, it just hurts all the time. It also doesn't feel muscular. It really feels like something is wrong. Has anyone had this?
I did the 5 shakes a day and lost 16 pounds in my 2 weeks. I didn't work out at all because I really had no energy. That was the worst part. I wasn't hungry but by the end of the work day I was totally wiped out.
What does she have access to? She can have skim milk (even warmed with a little splenda is very filling), fat free/sugar free pudding, sugar free jello, creamy soups, decaf tea...
Dr. Oz just did a show about this a few months ago. There was a woman on who had something like 20 pounds of excess skin from weight loss. Dr. Oz said there is nothing you can do to prevent of fix the sagging skin. He ended up hooking up the woman with a plastic surgeon to do her whole body.
Are you sure you were in surgery the whole 2 hours? I went in at 8 and woke up at 10, but I was in the recovery room for over an hour before I woke up.
I was banded on Tuesday and right now I would kill for an Optifast! I'm on clear liquids until Wednesday when I see the doctor again. My doctor puts the band in with no fill so there is really no restriction now so I'm starving! The Optifast gets so much better after the first couple of days. I read everybody saying that and I was like "yeah right" but it really was true. By the end of the 2 weeks I was rushing to get in all 5 shakes because I would forget!
I was banded on the same day and am still suffering the gas pains as well. I sent my husband out today to get the Gas X strips like everyone suggested. I'm going to do 3-4 strips tonight before bed and hope that helps. Unfortunately I live in NY and we had a big snowstorm on Wednesday so long walks outside are out of the question. I've just been walking around the house and down the driveway and back to see if that will help at all.
My doctor requires it for everyone no matter what. He said it shrinks the liver 25% for easier retraction. I also have a lower BMI and do not have a fatty liver, but he said it just makes the surgery go smoother. I know a lot of doctors don't require it though.
Hey Tweety, I'm in with Dr. Gabriel a week after you! Did you get clearance from insurance yet? They didn't submit it yet so I'm still waiting... I start the pre-op diet on Monday. How's it going for you?
