Somebody Help Me!!!!!
LadyK replied to BlessedWithaVoice's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know the feeling literally, I and seeing my doctor on Monday, can not get much down. I think I have a slipped band. You should probably see your doctor also. -
Help. Having serious pain. Sorry this is gross.
LadyK replied to Totallytater's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Once you get through this, I would suggest daily fiber, like Benefiber. I have been banded for almost 2 years, and never having an issue in this department prior to banding, Benefiber was a lifesaver. I take 1T. with coffee first thing in the morning, and if I remember 2 tsp. in the evenings. That first doseage is usually enough. You will be fine, but you have to get regular and stay regular. Best of luck to you. -
Banded 1.5 years, and chicken is still a issue for me. I will only eat the thigh, and in small bites. I started eating at 11:00 am, and I will be finished with it around 12:00 noon; otherwise the pain is not worth eating chicken. The sad part is, it never hurt before, so why now? The band is at the bottom of our esophagus, so why does certain foods hurt doing down? I could be wrong, but I think we now have two restrictions, the band and the length of our esophagus. Try eating dark meat, then take smaller bites, and take the entire hour to eat if you need to. Good luck. LadyK

Anyone else lost interest in food?
LadyK replied to BlueEyedKitty's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have been banded for almost 1.5 years now, lost over 60 lbs and still loosing; I now eat to live, and that is it. It has been this way for a long time now (months), Breakfast is the worst, I hate all breakfast foods. My husband loves to go out for breakfast, I will eat one piece of bacon, and a cup of coffee and that is it. meats kinda hurt going down, I guess that is why I find eating such a chore. Fish is much better, but not shrimp. My last fill was 6 months ago, so I should not be that restricted. This is really how we should be eating, eating to live, not the other way around. Good luck. You look good girl. I know exactly what you mean, I am still struggling to loose that last 20lbs. I know I will, but it does not come off as fast as it did before. Take care.

I amd 14 months pre-opt, and 60 lbs later, I am, as I was from day one always cold. All summer I ran my heater under my desk, my co-workers think I am crazy.

POLL Does Everyone Lose Their Hair??
LadyK replied to KariK's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am post-opt, 14 months, and I still have some hair shedding. Not really hair loss anymore, but I sure did 3 to 6 months after banding. My doctor told me to take zinc, I take it occassionally, not like I should, I guess when I see more hair in the sink than I care to. -
Someone please tell me I won't be sore like this every time!
LadyK replied to TerriDoodle's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Yes the pain will end, and when it does, you will love working out. It is not so much the working out that you will love, but the way you feel after you exercise. Keep up the good work. LadyK -
August 24, 2006 bander... Here is my update, down 41 lbs from 220, to 179. Down from a size 18 to size 12, for the last 2 months, every 3 to 4 weeks I give my clothing away. My daughter and I just got back from our spring break cruise, I only worked out twice on the ship, but we did all kinds of walking and I lost 2 lbs. I have a different relationship with food, I only eat if I have to, and no food is over the top appealing to me anymore. Beef no longer agrees with my band, chicken is hit or miss with my band, fish works best for me. I have had 3 good size fills, and 1 minor adjustment a month before our cruise. Having the band is a major life adjustment, but I would not have it any other way.

It is worth a shot, especially when you have children. I just pray that he gets the help that he needs, wanting to change and actually changing is two diffrent things. Find your self a good counselor to help you address how you are feeling. I will be thinking of you.

Dr. Temple is great, he just did my 3rd fill yesterday. In order to get a referral from your PCP, it is good if you have a relationship with your doctor. Your doctor must be aware and or possibly be treating you for your co-morbidities. My doctor was aware of my high blood presure, and she was treating me for it. She was also aware of my winter seasonal asthma, and recent back surgery for a herniated disc, oh and also my 220 lbs that I was unable to shed. I had to document and provide her with a list of the other supervised weight loss methods that I had tried over the last 3 to 5 years. Once I did that, she submitted my referral and that was only the beginning. You still have to have several test once you are in the program, it will take a few months to get clearance for surgery. Hang in there, it takes a while to get through the red tape, but it is well worth it.

I am doing just fine, in need of another fill but otherwise ok. Since my last fill 4 weeks ago, I have lost between 10 - 8 pounds. I have been gaining, then loosing the same 2 lbs for over a week. I can also eat a little more than I usually do; and my meals no longer sustain me for 3 to 4 hours anymore. Everything points to a fill, I just hate all the red tape and hoops you have to jump through to get a fill. All the referral and insurance stuff is well worth the the feeling of restriction. I love the restriction feeling and I am sure you will love it also. The restriction feeling, is the control that I wish I was born with. Good luck with your fill.

Jules, Good job! Keep up the exercise. I attend Life Time Fitness, and my favorite quote from LTF goes something like this "Exercise is not about the way you feel when you are working out, it is about how you feel the rest of the time". Best of health! K

Girl, been there and I too did the pizza thing, I was in such pain that I have not looked at pizza since. If you love your band now, you will fall in love all over again after your fill. No it really does not hurt, you do feel a little pinch, but that is it. I had to have 2 fills a week apart, the first fill did not give me much restriction, but the second one is working well. I had my second fill 2.5 weeks ago, my weight was at 209, today I am at 202. The band is a great tool for me, but working out in addition to the band is the reason the weight is really coming off. It is a process. Talk to you later.

Sleep is a wonderful thing. Just continue to hold on, everything will workout just fine.

You are right, you have to cut your attorney some slack. Once she is back on top of things in her life, then she will be the most effective attorney for you. Now you know your ex is all about playing head games. First the pitty party e-mail, then the :angry e-mail with horns. Don't feel sorry for him, he made that bed, now he has to lay in it. Push for the temporary restraining order to get your ex out of the house until the divorce is settled. What he is doing is still considered abuse, mental abuse last way longer than physical abuse. Remember that your daughter is also exposed to his bad behavior. I am sure you have already thought about this, but the holidays are coming; get him out before the holidays arrive. The holidays can really be a depressing time for individuals going through a divorce, but who do you think he will take his frustration out on? I hope you get to relax in your own bedroom soon. Take care Girl!

Yes you can eat the fish on top of the sushi, and you may be able to tolerate the sticky rice. I went to a Sushi all you can eat bar, for dinner a few weeks ago. First of all, I am long past getting my monies worth, I just want good healthy food. I knew that I would not be able to eat much, but I did eat small peices of fish, and left the rice on my plate. I figured the protein was most important, and the rice would just fill me up quickly. Enjoy your sushi!
