Randi, My physician will do unfills or partial unfills for such events. I have a cruise in March and I will go on the cruise with band restriction. I agree with others, a taste is more than enough. I know that it is just my opinion, but I go cruising for the visual pleasure, the food just does not hold a candle to the beautiful sights.

Can anyone give us the 411 on the B12 shot? Thanks.
-
B12 shots are associated with people trying to loose or loosing weight. I don't know enough about B12, but I would think that it is a vitamin/supplement that is absent from our diets during this weight loss period.

I have not had my first fill yet, but I am due for one the first week in October. The following week I will see a Nutritionist, probably once a month for several months. There has to be a way to balance life with a band and proper BALANCED nutrition. Once I find out, I will most certainly share my findings.

I agree with the masses, hard protein is better and has the staying power. I am a very good cook, before banding I would cook 2 to 3 times a week, now I don't give a rats behind about cooking. So I do eggs, bacon, 98% fat free turkey (lunch meat), chicken, fish, and not too often, ground beef. These Proteins can be whipped up into a quick meal in no time. Good luck.

I have not had my first fill yet, so I can eat a small amount of bread, mostly in dry form (toast, crusty breads). I really don't do a lot of red meat, not because I am this really healthy person; chicken and fish cook way faster. I have to be for real, I could have used a fill 2 weeks after my band went in. Get a fill, sounds like we both need one.

I was banded 8/24, and I am looking forward to my first fill in October. The weight is coming off so slowly, but it goes on pretty fast. I am doing the gain 2, loose 2 for the past 2 weeks. I am seeing loss of inches, so I guess that is something. I am working out, but only getting 30 minutes of exercise a day. Today I am adding a second workout shift to my routine; 30 minutes of walking on the track in the evenings.

I was told by a physician that I need to take zinc lozenges for hair loss. I will warn you that I do not care for the way it makes your mouth feel. I am looking into taking zinc in a pill form. Look into this, but this is what I was told. Good luck.

I have been banded for 4 weeks, I am clueless to what PBing is. I have not had a fill yet, but I do get the swallowing a golf ball feeling in my chest sometimes. So is PB's, just vomiting? :help:

I had the copper IUD in the mid 80's for 5 years, it worked well but I had several infections. Nothing is perfect, but the IUD was real close.

POLL Does Everyone Lose Their Hair??
LadyK replied to KariK's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My best friend has been banded for 7 months, and has lost 25% of her hair. I spoke to the nutritionist and they said that she and well as myself need to take zinc lozenges. They taste awful, so I may start taking zinc in pill form. Look into it. Good luck. -
Call your doctor's office now, that is what they are there for.

I was only banded August 24, 2006 and I have not experienced the dry skin yet, but I woke up with my first pimple today. I do drink at least 5 - 6 glasses of water a day. Just try pushing plenty of water everyday, and see if you notice a difference. Good luck.

Oh yeah me too, if I am sitting in my chair and bend over to pick a pen, I have to bend in the oppsite direction of the port; otherwise it is painful.

What this will teach your children, is that mommy is taking getting healthy seriously. None of my children are overweight, they do not eat healthy but they are athletes, so that is their saving grace. The dance class should help alot, just keep them both active and be an example to your children. Now for you, good luck with your banding tomorrow; everything will go smoothly. -
Veronda, It really depends on your financial situation. If after graduation you have to start paying your student loans, then I would wait until you are working and your full coverage insurance kicks in. Do your research with your current insurance now, find out exactly what their criteria for approval is; you could be laying that ground work now (medically supervised weight loss program, exercise program, to name a few). These are the things that most insurance companies will want documentation for. The approval process is designed to weed out individuals that are not serious about loosing the weight. For me, having 2 children in college and my husband and I pay for our childrens education, (housing and everything else) out of our own pockets; financing my lap band surgery was not an option. You have time, do your research and make the best decision for you. Good Luck.

I am cold just about everyday. At work, all summer long I have my heater on. Prior to my banding in August 2006, I was never like this. I think it is safe to say, that it is a direct result of the banding. Like someone said earlier, I would rather be cold than overweight. LadyK

Hello Everyone, I was banded in late August at Loyola Hospital in Maywood, IL. The surgery went smooth, and recovery was even better. After 2 days I lost 11 lbs, and all was good in the world. Week 2, I am starving, and the only thing that gives you staying power is meat. I workout for 1 hour a day, 5 days a week and looking forward to my first fill.
