  1. My cousin who was banded a few months ago has her port on the front of her belly below her rib cage. Another friend of mine who was banded 4 years ago has hers on her side- she says sometimes her pants rub it and it bothers hurt. She said I should ask to get mine on my belly under my ribs. so where is yours at??
  2. bladder suspension. Here's the story. I have stress incontinence and dysfunctional uterine bleeding. In May I had uterine ablation but it really hasn't helped so my next step is to have my uterus removed. My Ob/Gyn would like to do it a few weeks after my Lap Band surgery. I also have stress incontinence. He said I can either get that fixed while he's in there or wait. He said if I lose the excess weight it may go away on it's own. So here's my question. Right now I'm at my out of pocket max for the year so my medical coverage is at 100% until December 31st. Would you go ahead with the bladder suspension or wait it out and see if the weight loss would help it? I will say that I got down to 170 once and I still had the incontinence at that weight.

    1 week till surgery!

I'm so with you! It's 100 degrees here to but I'm the only one sweating like a faucet. I'll be so glad to get this weight off.
  4. How would you know if you had a hiatal hernia? I don't think I do but I'm just curious. My reflux is worsened with stress so I always thought it was stress related.
  5. Do any of you know the answer to this: My MIL is considering having Lap Band but she has 2 abdominal hernias that her PCP says has to be fixed first. Can it all be done in one surgery instead of two? I plan to ask my surgeon about it just to see what he says. Thanks!

    Weight Watchers Online: Support Thread

Hi Everyone I'm new here and I'm getting banded August 6th!! In the past I did Weight Watchers and I loved it except that I was hungry all the time. I thought about trying it again with my band though. Are you ladies counting points or doing Simply Filling? What is a typical day of eating like for you? I logged my food every day and I have 9 months worth of my daily menus written down but I'm thinking most of that stuff may not be Lap Band friendly. How are you all doing this?? Thanks!! Amanda
  7. That's a great Idea. I hadn't even thought of putting it in soup.

    Well, I did it!!

    Congratulations!!
  9. How painful was your surgery? Where was the majority of the pain at? (shoulder pain, port, incisions) How many days was it really bad before it got better?

    Dying for a Diet Coke!!

I'm confused about this too. I know 3 people who have had Lap Band. 2 of them still drink sodas and 1 of them does not.
  11. I'll definitely put those strips on my list. I love cinnamon but hate, hate, hate peppermint.

In Need of Prayer.........Waiting on Appeal

It looks great to me! I'll be praying that you win your appeal. Sometimes with UHC it can as simple as getting one person that knows more than the other. I've had to appeal several simple things with them and they always granted my appeal and paid my claims. They seem to have a lot of reps there that don't really know all the rules.

    My renaissance.....

    Congrats ladies!!
  14. I didn't vote either but I feel it's a zero tolerance thing. IMO if he will bite once he'll do it again.
  15. I started looking into it the last week of May and my surgery is set for August 6th. I was lucky and it only took 8 days for my insurance to approve me. Good Luck to you!
  16. My surgery is set for 8/6. I have had a few doubts but only a few. I know a lot of people who have had this done and they all tell me it was the best decision they've ever made. I see how much healthier they are and how much more energy they have and it really calms my fears.
  17. What I mean is last week I ordered some new clothes b/c my others were a little too tight. They will be here today and I start my pre op diet on Monday. I'm wondering if I should keep the tags on them for now instead. I spent $200 on them but I'm not sure I will get $200 worth of wear out of them now. What do you think ?
  18. My surgeon made me see his dietician. She gave me one set of rules and a post op diet. Then I had to see his bariatric coordinator- She gave me the same set of rules but a different post op diet. I'm so confused:( Then I read the thread in the Nutrition forum about stages and foods and I'm even more confused. The way I understand it is this: Week 1 Protein shakes Skim Milk Strained Soups juice coffee Tea broth Jello Week 2 Cream of Wheat oatmeal Fat Free pudding Nonfat Yogurt Lite Ice Cream Mashed Potatoes Applesauce Baby food plus everything from week 1 if I want it Then on week 3 it says to advance to regular food and it lists: Extra lean ground beef, turkey, chicken, pork, fish deli meats boiled vegetables shredded lettuce Healthy Choice meals Raw Vegetables and Fruit and Bread But then the dietician specifically told me not to eat bread or raw fruits to use canned instead. It looks like I still have lots of questions. At least I understand the pre op diet completely.
  19. LOL I'd die from heat stroke living in sweats here. Seriously. That's another reason I'm glad about my upcoming surgery. It's so flipping hot in TX and being overweight just makes it that much worse.

    United Health Care requirements?

Just curious but what reason did they give for denying you? I hope you win your appeal!

    LapBand Food Stages Lists Suggestions

Oh Angie that sounds great compared to my doc's plan:( I'm sitting here trying to figure out what all I can eat for the next month or so. It will be worth it though. This is a great thread!
  22. I meant to say I have United Healthcare group coverage.

  23. My insurance company has very few requirements and I met every one of them.

    United Health Care requirements?

Mine was BMI of 40 with no co morbidities OR BMI of 35-39 with one co morbidity Either way you must use an In Network surgeon and Hospital. I was approved in 8 days.
