  1. It is discouraging but I bet if you up your water intake you'll see results fast!
  2. This thing is worded so tricky it makes me wonder if they will actually pay for this. It says: We reviewed your request to cover Obesity Surgery for you. Based on the information submitted and your health benefit plan, we determined that the health care service is eligible for coverage. Please note that payment is based on the submitted claim and the actual health care services received, the guidelines and policies in place at the time of service, and the patient's plan and eligibility when the services are received. The information in this letter does NOT guarantee payment. Blah. I'll be glad when this is over and the claims are paid.
  3. I know exactly how you feel. My inlaws live right next door and they have a pool. Every one goes swimming except me. Why? Because I can't find a swim suit that looks good on me. My SIL is 35. She goes in a string bikini with her small belly and size DD boobs-and she's had 2 kids and is still thin. I hate it. I'll be so glad to get this weight off.
  4. Did you weigh on the same scale at the same time of day with the same amount of clothing on?
  5. I'm not sure. My insurance didn't require a supervised diet but my PCP said she has seen people denied for not doing a full 90 days or a full 180 days. She's also seen people denied b/c they weren't seeing the doctor every 30 days. Which insurance company do you have?

    Getting banded Aug 18th

I ate a lot of stuff right before starting my diet but once it came time to start my diet I was at peace with it. It doesn't bother me that I can't eat and it doesn't bother me that I may have to give up some of my favorite foods. I just want to be healthy again. As for shakes Syntrax nectar makes a chocolate Truffle and Cappucino Latte that I could live off of! In fact I'm sulking today b/c I ordered a container of each and it won't be here until Wednesday. Now I'm stuck with yucky shakes until then:(

    This is so hard....

I agree it's very hard. But I just take it one day at a time. I know it's for a good cause and I definitely see my scale moving down so at least I feel good seeing progress.

    August rush 2010!!!

Okay guys I'm on day 6 of my 10 day preop liquid diet. I'm down almost 12 pounds but I've had to stop cooking for my family. Food just looks so good to me right now, any food. But I can do it. Friday is my big DAY!!
  9. Thanks everyone! I know I have to do my Protein shake first. Right now I'm eating every 3 hours. A Protein Shake, then chicken broth, then another protein shake, then more broth etc. I'm just asking so that If I'm hungry post op I have other things to choose from.
  10. My sheet says for 7 days after surgery I can have ONLY liquids. It lists tomato Soup or strained Soups. What about that Campbell's Soup at Hand drinkable soup? I've never tried it but would that work or does it actually have some veggies in it?
  11. I had a Mirena for 3 years. I wasn't banded at the time but I didn't gain any weight with it and it didn't stall me losing. The Mirena has the lowest amount of hormones in it and they only act on your uterine lining unlike BCP pills that flow throughout your body.

    August rush 2010!!!

Well I'm on a low calorie, low fat, low carb, high protein liquid diet for 10 days pre op. I have 3 protein shakes a day made with water. I got a variety of protein samples that I use. So far I'm LOVING the Syntrax Nectar and the Syntha 6 is pretty good also. In between I have sodium free chicken broth and usually a cup of sugar free jello before bed at night. Then I drink around 80 oz of water a day also.
  13. I called mine just to be sure and they said my insurance has a RAPS clause which means all Radiology, Anesthesiology and Pathology fees are pain in network as long as the hospital and surgeon is in network. Where I live they contract out the darn ER doctors! Who would have thought that? So If you go to the ER for an emergency your hospital might be in network but it doesn't mean that doctor is. Crazy huh?
  14. your diet looks a lot like mine except I'm allowed Sugar Free Jello, sugar free popsicles and plain unflavored yogurt. No flavored yogurt at all and no puddings. I'm finally doing good though! My body has adjusted. I can't wait til band day this Friday.
  15. Or does the band make spicy foods a no no on it's own??
  16. I'm looking for some good tasting or tasteless Protein powders for my pre op and post op period. My surgeon's office swears by Un Jury. They claim it tastes great. They gave me a sample of unflavored, vanilla, chocolate and chicken Soup. I haven't tried them yet. Any recs for some good tasting Protein powder?

    Flatulence

LOL! This post is scaring me:) It does eventually ease up right?
  18. Way to go!! I think I've finally figured it out. I drink a shake and then a few hours later I have some chicken broth. I alternate those every few hours and so far it's working great for me!
  19. I have a headache and I'm very sick to my stomach. I'm drinking my Protein shakes and getting my Water in it. This will pass right?
  20. I'm sorry. Is it your insurance that won't accept them or the doctor?
  21. I was given a surgery date the same day my insurance approved me.
  22. I've lost 10 pounds!!! I'm sure some of it is water weight though. My rings wouldn't fit on Tuesday when I started the diet and today they slide on smoothly. I'm doing so good that my Monday weigh in was cancelled! Now I weigh in and see my surgeon on Tuesday and go do my pre op tests. I'm so excited!! Edited to add: My BMI will be less than 35 by surgery day. That won't cause an issue with my insurance will it?
  23. Yep all liquids and I'm drinking 80 oz of water a day on top of that.
  24. LOL at Laura and Mel:) I had female surgery a few months ago and honestly I could have cared less what was going on but my SIL works as a scrub tech and later on she laughed and said she checked in on me. Her exact words were I saw you but you couldn't see me and then she laughed. I don't even want to know what she saw and I'm never using her hospital again. LOL

    Great jeans!

I agree with you. Plus size jeans are so flipping big in the legs. They make me look awful. I'll have to check those out.
