    Sept 2010 Anyone?

I just wanted to say Congratulations to you!!
  2. Amen to that! I don't know what size some of my pants are. My shirts are now tagless so there's no hiding that:( I'm not looking forward to my boobs shrinking though. I kinda like em the way they are:)
  3. Thanks so much!!

    Input please...

Talk to your surgeon and the anesthesiologist. Hopefully it was just a rare fluke thing and it won't happen again.
  5. A few years ago I lost 50 pounds on Weight Watchers. My dh was very, very supportive of me once I started losing the weight. When I first started Weight Watchers though he was just indifferent I guess you could say. He sort of felt like this was just another diet and it wouldn't work either. Now, I told him a couple of months ago that I was considering Lap Band. He said if that's what I wanted to do he was behind me 100%. He also said he didn't care if I did it or not b/c he loves me just the way I am. That said, I was so excited to get the phone call saying I was approved. I'm excited every day now and totally looking forward to getting banded and getting this weight off for good. The thing is though my dh is not excited. He's not trying to talk me out of it or anything he's just not excited or optimistic about it. Do you think it's just b/c he thinks it won't work or what? I really wonder/worry what's going on in his mind. We've been married almost 13 years. When we started dating I weighed 115. I'm now at 225:(
  6. I don't do very well with narcotic pain meds. They make me really, really sick to my stomach. I can't take Vicodin at all. The only ones I can take with no problem are Utracet and Darvocet. The doc is giving me liquid Lortab- Isn't that just like Vicodin? For the first 3 days I'll have a Scopolamine patch. That should keep me from throwing up. So my questions are: Will I need the pain meds past 3 days? Should I say something to him now? I'd rather have Tylenol with Codeine if I'm going to need it longer than 3 days. I usually just deal with the pain and I don't take anything for it but he said this will mainly be chest pain and that scares me. I did have arthroscopic surgery on my knee. They explored it and worked on my tendons. I was in a lot of pain but I coped and never took anything stronger than Tylenol. Should I just stock up on liquid Tylenol??
  7. I know what you mean. I used to work for a family doctor and the drug reps constantly brought in full course meals and dessert and I was dieting. They never could take NO for answer. They acted like I was offending them by not breaking my diet to eat their food. Just stick out!! Your almost there!
  8. These are all great ideas! I stay really busy all the time so right now it's easier for me to just do protein powder and water. Boring I know but it's the easiest right now.

    Gallbladder Question

The thing is once you lose the weight you may end up with gallstones and need it removed. When they do the Lap Band they will already be in that area so it's no big deal to take it out. I have mine out and I haven't suffered any GI problems whatsoever and I had absolutely ZERO pain from the surgery. You do seem to have your mind made up but there is a reason your surgeon is a surgeon. He didn't go to medical school for years to give you bad advice and he has no reason to take out your gallbladder unless he really thinks it's medically necessary b/c insurance will NOT pay him to do that. They will bundle it with the Lap Band and he will get the same amount of money either way.
  10. I do have some Phenergan tabs at home. I thought we couldn't have Motrin, only Tylenol??
  11. I'm so excited and nervous at the same time. I've had to try really hard to stick to this pre op diet and I'm scared that something will be wrong with my bloodwork or something and they will cancel my surgery. I'm freaking out about it! My appointment is at 2 and then I still have to do my pre admission at the hospital. I hope it all goes smoothly! I'll be banded in 4 days!!! I can't believe it!!
  12. I was in the same place you are. Where I'm at it's $12900 cash. We got approved for the full amount through Care Credit but thankfully my insurance approved me. Just remember if you are denied the first time you still have the right to appeal and you may win your appeal. Good Luck to you!
  13. That's good to hear!! Your doing great by the way!
  14. Don't worry I'm not offended. You guys are telling me the truth. I don't know if I'd do that Magnesia. Why not up your exercise instead? I have a treadmill and I get on it every time I think about eating something. It keeps me busy instead.

    Gallbladder Question

Let him do it. Most of the time when you lose a lot of weight it causes gallstones so your gallbladder has to be removed anyway. It sounds to me like he's on the right track.
  16. Thanks guys! I've decided to stay the course and keep to my liquids. I have 12 pounds to go until my first goal of 199!! So I'm just going to stick and out and keep watching the scale go down.
  17. Thanks everyone! The appointment was GREAT! Because I have high blood pressure the hospital required me to have extra labwork and an EKG. As long as that's all normal then I'm set to go for Friday!
  18. Today is day 8 of my pre op diet. I get banded Friday:thumbup: I've lost 15 pounds!!! But I'm wondering will this come back after banding? I've been eating less than 10 grams of carbs a day, less than 200 mg of sodium and drinking 10 glasses of Water a day plus I'm eating less than 600 calories a day and almost no fat. So that's a pretty strict diet it's no wonder I've lost so much but I'm assuming some of it will come back right?

    Disappointment. I has it.

I would definitely have them remeasure you. Hopefully that will be enough to change your BMI.
  21. The hardest part of this whole surgery is I'm a stay at home mom and I have this adorable little 4 month old boy that weighs 14 lbs. The nurse said I wouldn't be able to lift but I can't remember how long she said for. I'll ask the doc again tomorrow but what were your lifting restrictions? Just curious.

    August rush 2010!!!

ICK. I can't imagine that would taste good even if it is grape. Good Luck though!! Let us know how surgery goes.
  23. That would be so great for me! I will dread not being able to lift my baby and he is a definite momma's boy. He has to have momma and nobody else will do.
  24. Being able to eat scrambled eggs or mashed potatoes. All these shakes and chicken broth is really getting old!!! I want a hamburger patty so badly:( I don't even care if I get the bread or not.

    I cheated! Please help! :(

I would get back on the diet and be strict about it.
