I tried Effexor and it actually made my anxiety worse. I have a form of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder that causes my anxiety and the Prozac keeps it completely in check for me.

Day 4 post op and feeling a little down today
spoiltmom replied to AmberK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm feeling the same way today. I wonder what I've done to myself. I know it will pass and I know I've made the right choice but I'm going through a lot of emotions right now and like you I've been off my anti depressant also. I really need it but the doc said I can't swallow it. Tomorrow I'm calling my PCP to ask for something else. The surgeon told me to open up my Prozac capsule and just take the powder inside. Well I tried and that was the nastiest stuff ever. I spit it everywhere and it took forever to that nasty taste out of my mouth:( I also feel like before getting banded food was an important part of my day. I spent a good bit of time eating, thinking about what to eat or cooking. Now food is just a small little side line and will be the rest of my life. I find I have a lot more time on my hands and I'm not sure what to do with it. Does that make sense? -
My incisions are itching like mad today. Is that normal?

Alright I almost threw up just now help please...
spoiltmom posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was trying to take my medicines. I take Synthroid for my hypothyroid, a blood pressure pill and a Zyrtec. I have severe allergies so the Zyrtec is a must. Anyway my discharge notes say to split them all in half and take a half at a time. Well I got the first 2 halves down with 2 separate drinks then I got a third half down with another drink then when the fourth half went down I suddenly got hot. I felt really really sick to my stomach and my mouth started watering really badly. I sat down for a while and I feel a little better now but I still need to take my blood pressure medicine and I'm afraid to drink anything else right now. -

I was thinking I could take the Zyrtec at night. It really doesn't matter when I take it. Hopefully this passes soon. -

I'm otherwise fine. I took the same meds yesterday with no problem. I guess today maybe I just drank too much? -
Pressure in my chest?
spoiltmom replied to jamelyn1979's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wasn't given a blower thing but the nurse they gave me was just banded in June. She told me that it would be normal to feel chest pain and shoulder pain and it was nothing to worry about and would go away on it's own. Last night my right shoulder was hurting so bad that I was in tears. Dh massaged it for almost 15 minutes before I finally felt some relief. -
Post Op diet questions..
spoiltmom replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay I wondered about that. I'll wait till tomorrow to move onto full liquids. -
I was banded yesterday. My instructions say liquid diet for the first 7 days. It says I can have: coffee, Tea, Skim Milk, etc. But the one thing it says I can have that I'm not sure about is Tomato Soup. Would tomato soup be too acidic to eat right now?

BMI 51! & questions to those who know
spoiltmom replied to dzeteo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Some insurance companies require a 6 month supervised diet. Mine did not require that. I first saw my surgeon the first week of June and I was banded 2 days ago. Good Luck!! -
Post Op diet questions..

I should clarify. My diet is clear liquids for 48 hours and then onto full liquids. I'm guessing since I was banded on Friday then today would be the day to try the full liquids right? -
I've tried Bariatric Advantage, BSN, Un Jury and Syntrax nectar. The Syntrax IMO is the BEST! If you call them and ask for a sampler they will send you a single serving of all their flavors for $9.99 with shipping. It's a total of 10 or 11 flavors. The number is 1-866-333-7403

I was banded yesterday and the gas is so bad today...
spoiltmom posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I barely slept at all last night b/c I couldn't get comfortable. I've been walking and walking and taking Gas X but it feels like it's all built up on my left side. Can we use a heating pad or would that hurt the incisions some how? -
Hey Dee I was just banded yesterday. I think you should be able to return to work on Monday as long as you have a desk type job and not manual labor. I'm already up and going today. The only pain I had was pain from the gas they use to do the surgery with but it wasn't too bad. Congratulations!!

My first consult was the last week of May or first week of June and I was banded yesterday.
-
Well I will say that I am hungry. I'd love a protein shake right now but my surgeon said not to start those until tomorrow.

Banded yesterday and I'm so bored...
spoiltmom posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I normally would give anything for some quiet time to read, watch tv or play on the internet. My kids are with MIL and my dh is working and I'm just sitting around being totally totally bored. I took a nap when I got home yesterday and slept off my anesthesia. So I was up till 2 am this morning. Then back up at 8. I can't go to sleep and there's nothing to do. I never thought I'd hate recovery this much. I normally like to be lazy for awhile. LOL -
What is your favorite non carbonated beverage?
spoiltmom replied to ladybug on a mission's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I drink water and Crystal Light. -
Thanks guys! I'm doing great! A small amount of gas pain but that's all. Once that goes away I'll be 100% again:)

Officially DENIED by Ins.
spoiltmom replied to cat lady's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My insurance said the same thing. They said the blood pressure needed to be un controlled. Mine is controlled with meds and somehow they slipped me right on through anyway. Have you had a Sleep study done to check for Sleep Apnea? Have you had your cholesterol and tryglicerides checked? If not you need to. Sleep apnea is a good co morbidity to have. -
It gets better. If you stick with it and don't cheat by day 3 your hunger will go away completely.

liquid diet bathroom issues
spoiltmom replied to jingleboob's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought I was the only one with that problem. I was in the bathroom so much last Sunday that I guess I got dehydrated or something. I almost passed out in my kitchen floor. I felt incredibly weak. I started taking Citrucel and it helped a lot. -
I was banded yesterday! SO glad to have surgery behind me:) The only pain I have is gain pain and it's mostly in my left side and my chest. Hopefully it will pass soon.

Vomiting 2 days post op
spoiltmom replied to AmberK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got banded yesterday. I've felt nauseous a couple of times but for me a cup of warm broth gets rid of it. -
Surgery went well and fast. The pain isn't bad at all. Mostly just gas pain and that's it. The nurse they assigned to me just had this done in June so she was able to put me at ease before I went to the OR. She used the same doc as me so she told me all about her experience and told me that the pain would be comparable to the pain I had from my gallbladder surgery-which wasn't bad/much. I'm home and resting up now. I'm so excited to have my band in:)
