Good Luck tomorrow!! -
What did you eat the first week on the REGULAR diet?
spoiltmom posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
According to my diet sheet next Friday/Saturday I'm supposed to start eating regular foods again. Some things listed are deli meat, chicken/ham/tuna salad, lean tender meats and raw fruits and vegetables. We're going out of town for the weekend and I'm freaking out about this. I'm afraid I'm going to get sick or something. What did you guys eat the first regular week and did you have any problems? -
Wow girl! Your arms are looking great!

I'll have to read up on this. I've never been a runner but I'd love to be. It's great cardio. My knee problems/pain have always kept me from running but once I start losing weight that should get better also. How does it work?

I've read the same thing. I've read you can't absorb more than 25 grams at a time. I used to take Appearex for my nails. It's Biotin and I remember it being small. It was just more expensive than other brands of biotin. -

I can't find those at all where I live at. I can't find the clear fruit flavored Isopure drinks either. -

So in the meantime will you be on just liquids or soft foods also? -
Anyone bandless Post op

Yep this is how it was explained to me also. I was also given a picture of my band in place on my stomach. You can actually see that they have my liver folded over in order to get to my stomach. If your liver is fatty it will tear and bleed no matter how good your surgeon is b/c it HAS to be moved out of the way. -
I have one. I don't use it as a primary form of exercise but it definitely does help burn more calories and it's fun at the same time! We like the Wii Fit, Wii Ski and Boom Blox the best but we're also going to buy Dance Dance Revolution. My kids and I are always playing on the Wii.

I'm 30 and just had my third child. My friends didn't even start having their babies until 34. I wouldn't worry about it:) With the weight you will lose that will increase your fertility also. -

Yeah I know what you mean. It seems we are all on a different kind of plan. As a matter of fact I got one plan from the hospital dietician and a different plan from my surgeon but my surgeon MADE me see the dietician to get the darn diet plan. I had to pay an extra $125 for that. Crazy! -
Are any of you cold a lot??
spoiltmom replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I'm not really complaining. I'd much rather be cool or cold than hot. I'm a stay at home mom and dh works 12 hours a day. For the past few years I spend all day lowering the thermostat constantly to make the A/C kick on again. Now maybe my light bill will go down some also. -
Finally! I'm down a size!!

My gas pressure just went away on Thursday. I've been feeling really great since then!! Also I stalled out after surgery and didn't see the scale moving until I started eating more calories. I started using skim milk in my shakes instead of water b/c I was only getting 500 calories a day. More calories definitely helped. -
Finally broke the 240 mark

I know it makes me nervous but a friend of mine works for my surgeon and just got banded by him 8 months ago. She swears she had no problems and that all patients start eating again at week 3. -

August Rush in bandland!
spoiltmom replied to AmberK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most of it I lost on the 10 day pre op diet. I've only lost a few pounds since surgery and right now I'm stalled. I think it's because I'm not eating enough. I've only been getting around 500 calories MAX per day. I need to increase it some and try to shake things up a bit. -

So I'm curious since all these doctors have different diets what week does your doc allow you regular solid foods again? My says at the start of week 3/ Day 15 post op. -
I've been itching since last Saturday but the itch was around my incisions and not the actual incisions. Well the itch got very, very bad and I noticed a rash around all my incisions. I know I shouldn't have but on Thursday I couldn't stand it anymore. I pulled it all off. My itching has now stopped and the redness is fading. My incisions are completely closed on the inside but not on the outside. There are no signs of infection. I only pulled it off b/c I knew I had stitches on the inside so I wasn't worried about them popping open. Anyway you think I could take a shallow bath now? I've been putting prescription Bactroban ointment on them twice a day just in case.

I'm still waiting to see if my insurance will pay but it's not looking good. In the meantime my surgeon gets $12,500 cash. So Care Credit approved us and I have questions: How much will the monthly payment be? Right now all I have is an approval letter. I can either use Care Credit OR take a loan for 5800 from dh's 401K and another $6652 from our credit union. The monthly payments would be $254.00 a month for 60 months. Or I could just use Care Credit. or I have $3K in cash and I can finance the other $9500 between Care Credit or our credit union and 401K. Advice?? Thanks!

I still can't believe I did it either. I'm glad though and I can't wait to start having real food again. -
"Shaking" things up with those protein shakes ...

Today I had a pumpkin pie shake. I got it off the bariatriceating.com site. It was really good!! I'll have to try adding pudding though. I have lots of SF FF pudding mixes. -

I was burping a lot at first also. It finally stopped a couple of days ago. It was making me crazy at first. -
Did anyone cheat on the post op diet?
spoiltmom replied to dreamskin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on clear liguids for 2 days and then full liquids for 5 days. I'm supposed to be on purees now but I'm waiting until my appt on Tuesday first. It seems every doctor has a different diet plan.
