I'm hoping maybe that other 1 cc will make a difference but it was definitely not what I was expecting! -
August Rush in bandland!

Well that was discouraging:( September 2nd I had a hysterectomy. My Ob/Gyn's office called my surgeon to verify that my band was empty. The nurse told me and my Ob/Gyn that it was indeed empty. So I go in today for my first fill and the surgeon says he's going to add 3-4 cc's and I'm excited thinking maybe that will be a big change from nothing to 4 cc's but nope. The nurse was wrong. There was already 3 cc's in my band from surgery so he added one more. Now I'm at 4. I'm back on liquids for 2 days and then onto normal foods. I'm hoping that 1 cc will help some b/c I'm starving lately!! Oh and painwise it hurt but only for a second. It wasn't bad at all. -
I think I've finally gotten a handle on my gas. Since Monday I've been taking Digestive Advantage Gas Defense Formula. You take one small tablet a day and it's like $7.62 for 32 tablets at Wal Mart. My gas is definitely 90% better now. It came with a money back guarantee so I figured why not try it? Digestive Advantage Gas Defense Formula

Friend says she has 11 cc's in a 15 cc band...
spoiltmom posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a question. A banded friend of mine has lost 50 pounds with another 50-75 to go. She said she has 11 cc's in a 15 cc band and that she had good restriction for a while but now she has much less and she's going back in for another fill. It may wonder a few things. First off does some of the Fluid ever evaporate? I mean if they put in 10 cc and you don't ever get it filled again in 12 months time will it still have 10 cc's in it? Is it possible to feel a band as full as it will get and still not have restriction? I'm just curious. I go for my first fill tomorrow so I really don't know much about it yet. -
Pre-Op Appt.-What to expect
spoiltmom replied to babyk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My pre op was just a quick chat with the doctor to ask any last minute questions and then I went to the hospital for blood work, EKG and paperwork. Good Luck!! -

Good luck to both of us tomorrow!! -
I've taken Zyrtec daily for years now. It's a small pill and I even took it 1 day post op. It won't hurt anything and it won't make you sleepy.

I've always had a huge weakness for sweets especially birthday cake. We had ds's bday party yesterday and guess what? I had one small piece of cake. I still have leftovers and I'm not even tempted by them:) I never thought I'd see a day where I didn't pig out on sweets!!

spoiltmom replied to PuppyBandit's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have to bring mine. Like you I'm supposed to use it but I don't. I had no problems. My 02 sats stayed around 97. -

spoiltmom replied to carebear99's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm wondering how this works also. I go for my first fill on Tuesday and I'm hoping if I need more I can go back in 4 weeks. I really want to get some restriction and see some progress. -
Congratulations!!!

Finally! I'm so excited! I'm doing good and dropping sizes in my jeans but I had to buy dress pants for a funeral and wow was I ever discouraged:( They are an 18 and they are tight:( My jeans are a 16 and loose, I have to wear a belt with them. But on the positive side I bought cheap pants b/c I'm determined that I won't be able to wear them for long.

So on a scale of 1-10...
spoiltmom replied to Day's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I chose a 2. The only pain I had was gas pain and that was it. It was a very easy surgery IMO. -
After stressing over it I was approved yesterday and my surgery is set for August 6th! I'm so excited!!

Personally I would just try and switch to the other practice and keep the band. It may work great for you if you get good follow up care. 70 miles isn't all that far and the benefits for you would be great if they can make your band work for you.

Congratulations!! That's a great NSV!

how well did your husbands/wife take being at the hospital
spoiltmom replied to lovemysgt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It didn't bother my dh. I've had several surgeries this year and dh was only bothered with one of them. He has ADHD and he smokes. As long he can smoke occasionally he's fine and not wired up. Well I picked a non smoking hospital. You had to walk out to the road and stand on the curb to smoke. He was nuts by the time we left. The last 2 surgeries I used a hospital that you could smoke at as long as you were outside. He did fine that way. -
WLS article in my local paper today...
spoiltmom posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I went for my pre op appt the doc asked me if I was wanting the Band or the Gastric Sleeve. I said definitely the band. He said they offered both. Then today in my local newspaper they ran an article about a lady who received the FIRST gastric sleeve in my area just a month ago. She's doing great and the article went on to say that WLS is NOT a miracle or a quick fix and that you still have to work at diet and exercise. I was glad they pointed that out. My FIL thinks I'm crazy and I've taken an easy out here. -
Carbonation!!!!!!!!!!!
spoiltmom replied to kellyodoran's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
On the carbonation I was told the carbonation can expand your pouch. That said- I have 3 banded friends and they all drink sodas still and one of them even drinks them through a straw. Personally though I'm too scared to try it although I had a dream that I was in Wal Mart hunting through their Coke cooler to find me a cold Dr Pepper. I had open and boom I woke up. sigh. -
LOL! At least I'm not the only one who has no clue:)

I have a problem with salt. I crave it constantly. I eat it to the point that's it's very unhealthy especially since I have high blood pressure. Now when I was pregnant with my last baby the craving went completely away and I gave it up no problem. Then when I was about 8 weeks post partum the craving came back with a vengence. I eat so much salt that I stay swelled up even though I take a Fluid pill every day for my high blood pressure. I see my family doc tomorrow and I will be talking to her about it but in the meantime any advice for me? The craving is so strong and I just can't get enough salt and then of course I can't get enough Water b/c my mouth is so dry.

Well I got a pretty bad rash from the Dermabond. Did they use that on your incisions? If so that may be the problem and it needs to be removed.

WTG girl!! That is awesome:)
