  1. You really should watch the show. It's sort of like the Biggest Loser except for kids and it has a HUGE price tag on it. The kids even cry b/c they are homesick and just want to go home.
  2. Congratulations!!! That's a HUGE NSV! Have fun shopping:)
  3. Congrats! Definitely time to clean out the closet!!
  4. My doc told me no liquid calories after I get back on a regular diet. Then yesterday he said no liquid calories EXCEPT that he still wants me drinking 1 to 2 Protein shakes every day. He said the people who eat the most protein are the ones who lose the most weight. He said I need 65 grams of protein a day and even if I get that from my meals it still won't hurt to add more in the form of shakes. What were told?
  5. How do you warm them without the protein curdling up?
  6. I was able to have coffee with splenda and Coffee Mate after surgery. As for cooking I quit cooking and gave that job to my dh for a while. He totally understood.
  7. I agree. I hope it doesn't turn into a WLS bashing show.
  8. We're in the south and dh was raised on a farm so he's a fried meat and potatoes kind of guy. I totally hate that. The only meat he will eat that isn't fried is grilled on the charcoal grill. I'm happy with a chicken breast on my George Foreman grill. Anyway that's why I'm asking what you guys eat. I need to find an easy compromise for all of us.
  9. Well I can currently eat all those foods but I don't. It's not a big deal really. I'd rather lose the weight than to be able to eat pizza and bread you know? I figure all diets make you give up something and all those diets never worked for me. At least with the band it will work and all I have to do is eat right and give up things like fried foods, breads and sodas. I'm fine with that:)
  10. My band is like yours and holds 10CC's. I have a friend who told me she's at like 9 cc's in a 15 cc band. That sort of scared me. It made me wonder if a 10CC band will really do the trick but then she was a lot bigger than me to start with so maybe that's why she got a bigger band?
  11. I currently have 4 cc's and since I can still swallow pills with no problem I guess I don't have restriction yet. I'm hoping I get some with my next fill but I know everyone is different on this.
  12. She was the only one I noticed the scars on too. As soon as I saw them I thought she must be banded. I can't wait to see how the season turns out.

to band or not to band......

I agree. I wish I had done it much sooner!
  14. I'm on liquids again for 48 hours since I had my fill yesterday. I'm starving!!

    Zumba

I have the DVD's also but I haven't been able to start them yet.
  16. Well I don't think most 14 year olds are old enough and mature enough to make the changes that need to be made in order for the band to be successful for them. But on the other hand- Have you guys ever watched Too Fat For 15 on Style channel? They are trying to lose hundreds of pounds with no help at all just exercising, restricting calories and counseling. For a 14 year old I'm not sure which would be worse.
  17. Montina's profile says she actually had Lap Band surgery. Jessica's profile also shows she had Lap Band surgery.
  18. I would look around for a new surgeon. There are no after care fees with my surgeon. Everything was covered 100% except for my protein shakes.

    I am approved!!!

    Congratulations!!!
  20. Okay I'm newly banded so I don't know everything there is to know yet but here are my thoughts on the Lap Band contestant. Did you see how much she was struggling during the challenge? She finished last. If she were exercising all along like she should have been doing then she would have finished quicker. The Band can't and won't do everything for you you still have to put in the effort to exercise and eat right.

    first fill today

Honestly I think it varies from person to person. I just had 3 cc's added today for a total of 4 cc's. I'm hoping it will help at least some. I go back in 4 weeks for another cc.

    Tough times

First off ((HUGS)). A few years ago I lost 50 pounds on Weight Watchers. I was still not at my goal weight but I was keeping it off and then 2 of my close relatives were shot and killed. I gained it all back and then some. Like you I just could not find the motivation to keep going. I highly recommend you seek some counseling. I've been on anti depressants ever since and it took a while to find the perfect one and the perfect dose but I'm much better now. Much more like my old self. My dh said that I was lost for quite a while and he wasn't sure if I was coming back.
  23. IDK. I figure at first until we get good restriction that we'll have to diet. I just don't see any way around it.
  24. Those look good! thanks for posting the link! When I used to do WW I got a lot of great recipes from here: http://greenlitebites.com/
  25. I've only been banded a couple of months but I was told with Lap Band you are expected to lose 100% of your excess weight as long as you do your part. With GBP I was told it's normal to regain 10-15% of the weight b/c the stomach will stretch a little bit.
