My cousin is the same way. She just has a protein shake at breakfast. She's been banded for 14 months now. -
How fast is too fast for weight loss?
spoiltmom posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm trying to lose at a slow and steady pace. I worry about having a lot of sagging skin. Since my fill last Tuesday I've lost like 5 pounds this week. I think my weight loss will continue like that for a while b/c I'm just not hungry. I eat 3 meals a day but they are very small meals and I'm done. Is that okay or should I eat more high calorie foods so I lose slower? Also right now I'm not even exercising. I had a hysterectomy almost 4 weeks ago so it will be 2 1/2 more weeks before I'm cleared for exercise again. -

Autoimmune disease from gastric banding
spoiltmom replied to Daemon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It really is:) You can look up anything on there. I was given that site when my doc wanted to do tubal implants instead of tying my tubes. After reading on that site though I decided very much against it. I didn't even know it existed before that. -
3 fills in 1 month - anyone else???
spoiltmom replied to CSinTX's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Honestly? I think your going to have problems once you start solids. I say that b/c liquids go down really easy. Last week after my fill I had 4 cc's total and I was on liquids. I was starving and thought the fill didn't help but then once I started solids it was perfect. I had the perfect amount of restriction and I wasn't hungry. I worry that you may end up being too tight once you start real foods again. -
August Rush in bandland!
spoiltmom replied to AmberK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon does 3-4 for the first fill. I had 3 already from surgery so he gave me one more for a total of 4cc's. I'm glad they got it but that doesn't seem like much. Did you have any in there already? -
Restrictions and so on...
spoiltmom replied to precious85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt the same way until I got my first fill. I ate just like I did before the band. I was still hungry ALL the time and never felt full. For me the first fill stopped all that. Good Luck!! -

Autoimmune disease from gastric banding
spoiltmom replied to Daemon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Also if you haven't already you can go to the FDA's MAUDE site and look up lap band and realize band. It will give you all the reported cases of side effects, complications and etc associated with the band. MAUDE - Manufacturer and User Facility Device Experience Hope that helps you! -
Autoimmune disease from gastric banding
spoiltmom replied to Daemon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree that seems most logical. Anything that stresses your body can trigger an autoimmune disease. You probably already had the autoimmune disease and it just now showed up. Edited to add: I've read that if you have an autoimmune disease then YOU ARE NOT a candidate for banding. -
I have reached my goal weight!!!!

Weight gain before or during your lady days ?

Do you ladies still get insane cravings and have an increase in appetite around that time? -
Autoimmune disease from gastric banding
spoiltmom replied to Daemon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Autoimmune means your body turns on it's self. I wouldn't think a band would cause that. It may just be a coincidence that symptoms started around the same time. I know a lady who is 50 and has had Scleroderma and Lupus since her 20's. She is still fine and still working full time. -
I am being banded TODAY! have the worst headache
spoiltmom replied to babyk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good Luck girl!! I wouldn't worry too much about the headache. All the meds they give you to knock you out should take care of it. -
Just had my first fill... don't feel any difference/ yummy soup recipe
spoiltmom replied to jingleboob's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love that soup but I make it with 93/7 lean ground beef. We just don't like ground turkey. My dh hates ranch dressing but he LOVES this soup! I made it once on a camping trip. There were 4 couples and we picked a night for each of us to cook. I did this soup and they all LOVED it. There was none leftover. -

When did it stop being a diet...
spoiltmom replied to zeniada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me it stopped being a diet last week after my first fill. My first fill brought me to 4cc's total and now I can get full on a cup of food and I stay full until my next meal. Just hang there. It's so worth it! I'm amazed at how well my band is working for me:) -

It's an amazing feeling!! I still can't believe it:) I'm so happy with my band:) Barneygirl- WW online won't give you materials. I would recommend you buy an at home kit through WW or you can sometimes find them on Ebay cheaper. -
Normal heartburn or band too tight??
spoiltmom posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay last Tuesday I had a 1 cc fill. I already had 3 cc's so I now have 4 cc's. The first two days I was on liquids. I was STARVING! I had a bad headache and I took 2 Tylenol- they went down with no problem. Then Wednesday night at bedtime I had heartburn it was mild nothing severe. Friday I ate a piece of a roll and a sip of Water and I had heartburn. I took something for it and it went away. Then today I had 2 cups of coffee no problem. Then at lunch I ate some stew. I had 1 piece of a stewed tomato in mine and I got severe heartburn from that. Now I can eat anything I want with no problems. Dry meat, bread, nuts no issues there. I just want to make sure that my heartburn is not from my band being too tight. I don't have heartburn every day or even at night/bedtime. No coughing either and I did have Acid Reflux before getting banded. I'm currently not hungry, get full on a cup of food and I've lost 3 pounds since Tuesday. So is it a band problem you think or just my normal heartburn? I just want to make sure I'm doing everything right. -
Normal heartburn or band too tight??
spoiltmom replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I have had reflux issues in the past. Tomorrow I'll pick up some Prevacid OTC and try that. Hopefully that will work b/c right now I'm happy with my band. I think it's in the perfect spot for now. -

spoiltmom replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Also I should add I'm not throwing up at all or having any problems keeping my food down. Just the occasional heartburn. -
Is there a book or something I can buy that lists Protein counts of different foods? Like how many grams are in 1 oz of pork, chicken, etc. Are how many grams in egg whites vs. whole eggs?

What I just found out from insurance.
spoiltmom replied to honk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The policy I had excluded all my preexisting conditions and I had lots and it really only covered like major major medical. Like catastrophic stuff that would leave you in a huge bind otherwise. I still had to pay for most daily/routine care. I had it on my son also but it covered more for him b/c he had no health conditions. I'm just saying it might be worth it to call an independent insurance agent and see what they can do. Oh one thing though for me to get it I could not have a lapse in coverage. It started the day dh's policy dropped me and I had to provide proof of continuous coverage. Oh and I meant to add there are other companies besides Blue Cross that offer these policies.
