Saw the doc yesterday about my tiredness..
spoiltmom replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One more quick question: Even though my labs where good do you think it still might help to add in a good B-12 supplement? I'll ask my bariatric doc Tuesday but the only problem with asking him is of course his bariatric counselor tries to sell you her products specifically. I have no idea what brand of Vitamins they even carry. -
Saw the doc yesterday about my tiredness..
spoiltmom replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hmmmm, well my blood work was all completely normal so if it's not related to my sleep apnea then her only advice is to take the Nuvigil daily:( My B12, Iron and TSH were all great. She doesn't really think it is related to my sleep apnea though. I see my bariatric surgeon Tuesday so I'll ask him about it. I'm getting discouraged:( -
Me too. I think Cobra only applies if you lose your job and then it applies to the current insurance company=not the previous one.

Go back and talk to your HR department and tell them what Cigna told you. They should be able to clarify it for you. Have you met all of Cigna's pre op requirements yet? Have they given you a letter of approval?

Congratulations!! -
Right before I started the pre op diet my PCP lowered my thyroid meds a bit. For the last 3 weeks I've been freezing. Normally I keep the a/c on 78 and I wear shorts around the house and still sweat. Now I'm freezing a lot of the time and I'm fine in pants instead of shorts. I think my thyroid meds may have been lowered too much but a banded friend of mine said it's b/c of my weight loss. She said she was cold at first too. So what do you guys think? I've only lost 18 pounds surely that's not enough to freeze me right? I see my PCP again on Tuesday for more bloodwork.

Medi weight loss clinic diet!
spoiltmom replied to esv2000's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Why spend that kind of money when you are already banded? My surgeon says when you stall to go back to a liquid diet for 1 to 2 weeks. -
About to have a melt down here...
spoiltmom posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I posted last week about how tired I've been. I also have anxiety and depression. I went to my family doc 2 weeks ago b/c my anxiety and depression had gotten worse and I was feeling tired all the time. She changed my Prozac to Cymbalta. I'm still tired but my anxiety and depression is less. I've never had my Iron levels or B12 levels checked. My surgeon doesn't check those at all. I also have sleep apnea and I haven't had it rechecked since 2005. I'm using a CPap machine and I'm using the same settings that I've used since my last sleep test 5 years ago. I'm so flipping tired of being tired and exhausted. I cannot even find the energy to workout. Should I just go back again this week and see if she can do some blood work and maybe another sleep study or give the Cymbalta a little more time? I'm so frustrated right now. -

August Rush in bandland!

Cpap -- to use or not to use...
spoiltmom replied to Renee1003's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Honestly it takes getting used to. It was probably 3 months before I could wear mine all night. I would pull it off in my sleep b/c I felt smothered. The hospital never cared that I have sleep apnea or that I didn't bring a CPap. It was a non issue with the anesthesiologist. If your feeling really tired or have high blood pressure the CPap will help with that though. It will just take you time to adjust to it. -

Part of me thinks it maybe something to do with my CPap but then again I'm more tired now than I was 30 pounds ago. I would think my apnea would be better now and I wouldn't be as tired. -
August Rush in bandland!
spoiltmom replied to AmberK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm having that issue too but I really have no restriction:( I'm so stressed, overwhelmed and tired lately. Grrr. Can't wait for another fill. -
I'm trying to figure out how long I should really wait in between my Synthroid and my Vitamins. I know you aren't supposed to take them at the same time but how many hours apart should they be? I've been taking a Multivitamin and an extra B complex. Can I take the multi at night and the B complex in the am with my Synthroid?

I'm eating everything in sight....
spoiltmom posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm absolutely starving:( I got my first fill in September. It brought me to 4 cc's and I had great restriction for about 2 weeks. Then it faded down to almost nothing. 10 days ago I got my second fill which brought me to 5 cc's and still NOTHING. I'm starving ALL THE TIME and eating everything in site. My next fill isn't until 11/18. Do you think If I called they might do one earlier? -
How many of you take Bariatric vitamins of some type?
spoiltmom posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After feeling tired and crummy for a couple of weeks now I'm looking for some new Vitamins to try. I was using Vitafusion gummies but if you read the label they really aren't all that great nutritionally speaking. I bought some One A Day Women's vitamins and they are great but a little hard to swallow. I'm looking for something chewable instead. I know there are several brands. So far I've looked at Bariatric fusion and Bariatric Advantage. Do any of you recommend one brand over another? If so why? Are these really chalky tasting like the kids chewable vitamins? -
How many of you take Synthroid?
spoiltmom replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay I think I found my answer in this link. It looks like you CAN take B complex with Synthroid just not Multivitamins. Can thyroid supplements be taken with food, Vitamins, Iron, or other minerals? My Synthroid comes from Caremark mail order and their pharmacists will answer your questions but you have to stay on hold FOREVER and then half the time they are hard to understand. If it weren't for that I'd just ask my pharmacist. -
I've been thinking about trying the Muscle Milk Light. I find if I buy premade shakes then I drink 1 every day. If I have to make my own I start lagging on it. I just can't find time to make them. I know it only takes 5 minutes but it's easier and quicker to drink one pre made.

August Rush in bandland!
spoiltmom replied to AmberK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay turns out my 2 little ones have Strep Throat. Now I'm running fever also so I'm off to the doc tomorrow morning. There are antibiotics we can swallow right? I mean I won't have to take nasty liquid stuff will I? -
August Rush in bandland!
spoiltmom replied to AmberK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hope so. In the meantime my dd is sick. Yesterday while we were eating lunch she threw up on the table. That definitely helped curb my appetite:( -
What colour are your scars?
spoiltmom replied to WrenBird's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine are red and I was banded in August. I also have several other scars on my stomach from a laparoscopic gallbladder surgery. They are all white now so I figure in time the band scars will be white also. -
What am i doing wrong????????????
spoiltmom replied to Fluffy_Gurl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Personally for me I had to up my calories a bit before I started losing. I had been making my shakes with water but I switched to skim milk and then I started to see a difference in the scale.
