New insurance - no coverage

Those are all good ideas. Also check with your HR department. They can tell you if your employer for sure dropped bariatric coverage. -
Plastic Surgery (Tummy Tuck)?
spoiltmom replied to Nettie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't wait to have my tummy tuck but I have to get closer to my goal weight first. It's entirely possible that having all that skin removed will actually put you at goal. As for the scars I was told if you do a full TT it will take care of any scars and marks that are below the belly button. -
August Bandster-only 30 pounds lost
spoiltmom replied to belbarr1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm glad you posted this! I am losing very slowly but my restriction isn't lasting. I have 6 CC's in a 10 CC band and my surgeon says most people hit their sweet spot at 5.5 so I've been feeling a little defeated over that. I am hoping to get more next week. -
Can u get stuck just from eating too fast or is getting stuck always due to not chewing well enough? I ask b/c in the last 2 weeks I've gotten stuck on a slice of deli ham and on a taco. inormally eat that stuff with no problems.

Are there protein bars WITHOUT sugar alcohols?
spoiltmom posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I prefer Protein bars to help boost my protein intake but the sugar alcohols in them really mess my stomach up. Is there a brand without the sugar alcohols? -
Please Compare....

I have had a lot of surgeries and the Lap Band surgery was nothing for me painwise but then my gallbladder was nothing either. It's really not bad at all. -
Are there protein bars WITHOUT sugar alcohols?

What do they use to sweeten them with since there are no sugar alcohols? I'm curious now and I think I'll try them out. Thanks! -
Any new bandsters drinking tonight??
spoiltmom replied to beergut's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded in August. I will definitely be having a couple of drinks tonight. I've never, ever liked beer though. My drink of choice now is Diet Cranberry juice with Coconut Rum. -
I've only been banded since August but I wish I would have done it sooner!

To fill or not to fill? I need help please
spoiltmom posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay I got my last fill December 7th. It took me up to 6 cc's total. I felt a lot of restriction for the first 3 days and then nothing. I was hungry all the time and able to eat anything again. It was like the fill did nothing for me. Now on Dec 16th my family doc started me on Wellbutrin. Well with the Wellbutrin my appetite is curbed and I'm losing weight again, although I can't seem to get below 190. Here's the thing though: My surgeon thinks that at 6 cc's I should have my perfect Sweet Spot. If he sees that I'm losing weight he may be reluctant to do another fill but at the same time if the effects of the Wellbutrin wear off and my appetite comes back then I'm afraid I'll gain. I stop eating early now and I don't eat that much but it's b/c I don't have a much of appetite. It's not b/c I'm feeling any restriction. Does that make since? I can still eat more than I should be able to but it's still less than I was eating last month so the weight is moving now. So if you were in my shoes would you fill or not fill? I'd love to get into the 180's, that's my next goal but right now I can't get below 191. -
To fill or not to fill? I need help please
spoiltmom replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I guess the difference is my surgeon says if I can eat more than one cup of food than I need a fill but he also says If I'm losing I don't need a fill. I can and do eat more than 1 cup of food and I think that's why I'm stuck and can't get below 190 but I'm not sure. -
I had a lot of issues with my body before I had WLS. With my first pregnancy I had pre eclampsia and I gained 80 pounds. 40 of it was just fluid/water weight. It caused me to have stretch marks on my thighs, stomach and the backs of my arms. I also have saggy skin around my thighs from it and my stomach is droopy. Anyway for the longest I was so upset about it and then dh had a long talk with me and basically told me he really didn't care. I was still beautiful and I needed to get past it and stop worrying over it. Well now after 3 kids and Lap Band surgery. I'm starting to wonder what I'll really look like when I hit my goal weight. I told dh I'd like a tummy tuck and a boob job when I reach goal and he is fine with that but I'm worried about how my thighs and arms will look. I can't afford all over PS and I'm worried what dh will think. Part of me thinks he won't care if I have saggy skin but part of me worries about it and you know what's worse? I can't even talk to him about it b/c I'm thinking he may never even notice or focus on the saggy skin as long as I don't point it out so maybe I should just shut up. What got this started you ask? A friend of mine lost 100 pounds with Lap Band and she showed me her thighs and OMG. I couldn't believe it. It wasn't even saggy skin it was like she lost fat in some places and not in others so her thighs are a saggy pooly lumpy mess. I know I will have saggy skin b/c of what I've already seen with my pregnancies. Then I remember watching this show once on TLC where this lady had WLS. She got to her goal weight and her dh divorced her b/c he said she looked disgusting and he couldn't get past the hanging skin. BLAH! And people think WLS is so easy.

I'm doing pretty good now but I'm stuck at 191. I bought a heart rate monitor and I've been exercising every day. Wow what a difference it makes! My legs are so sore:) I start back to college next month and I don't want to be that frumpy overweight old person you know? -

What is your favorite alcoholic beverage post banding?
spoiltmom replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks guys. I ended up ordering a Rum Runner. It was huge and it really tasted mostly of rum. I have an 8 month old so I haven't had any alcohol in oh 18 months or so. Needless to say that one was enough. I was great until I stood up from the table then things started to move a little. LOL We had a great night though. -

Dh and I are going out tomorrow night for our wedding anniversary. I rarely ever drink, in fact it's been over a year now since I've had anything but I'd like to have something tomorrow night. I don't like beer or wine. My favorite thing to drink was always rum or vodka mixed with diet coke. Any recs for a good drink I could try? -
Just try some tiny sips every 15 minutes or so. I was told to try warm liquids rather than cold stuff.

Good Luck to you! I hope all goes well!

Yes Gas X helps and yes that patch is why you aren't nauseated. Just an FYI b/c noone told me this until after I was freaked out- a side effect of that patch is that it can dilate your pupils and cause blurry vision. I wasn't told that and I went in to have my tubes tied. The next morning I couldn't see out of one eye. I kept thinking WTF? WTF? I was freaked out. LOL It went away on it's own within 24 hours though. Just keeping sipping on your fluids. That patch will last for 72 hours so I say keep it on for a while longer.

Kids Meals
spoiltmom replied to gotmyeyeontheprize's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree. Most kids meals aren't healthy so I order a regular meal instead. I eat a small portion of it and take the rest home. -
Anybody Zumba for Wii?
spoiltmom replied to LargeMediumSmall's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the Zumba Videos but not the Wii game. My latest buy for my Wii is...don't laugh... Dance Dance Revolution. That's a fun game to play and definitely a workout. Not my only form of exercise but a fun way to add in extra. -
I was taking it but I switched to Flexeril b/c the Flexeril is so much smaller and easier to swallow. It's also on the $4.00 list at Wal Mart. LOL

Trying decide if I should stay in or leave my marriage!!!
spoiltmom replied to purple3797's topic in The Gals' Room
I'm a little late to this post but for me abuse is never, ever acceptable. If I were you I would leave him. I know it's a hard choice but once you leave him and get settled in with your kiddos you will be in a much happier state. ((HUGS))
