  1. Way to go girl!!! I have to do a formal presentation, with professional dress, for one of my classes. I'm waiting until a few days before to buy anything to wear. I can't wait to see how I'll look though:) It's so much fun to dress up now days.

My favorite is the Chobani brand it is so good. I especially like the Chobani Pineapple but it's the hardest one to find:(

    Banded Today!!

It's not uncommon to lose weight in the first month as long as you stick to the rules. You have to remember though you will be pretty hungry just like you were pre band so it can be a big battle with the will power to control your calorie intake.. at least for most people this is true. Congratulations to you!!
  4. Okay I have to brag! According to the BMI charts I'm now just overweight instead of obese! I'm so happy with that label:)
  5. I like the Syntrax brand. They have an awesome chocolate and Cappucino flavor. For the mornings though I've been drinking Click Espresso Protein drinks. They don't have as much protein as most shakes but they are WAY good. They taste like coffee but have the consistency of hot chocolate. They are smooth and creamy.
  6. I've been using MyFitness Pal on my IPhone to track everything I eat and drink. As long as I stick to 1200 calories a day my weight loss is consistent. But I've noticed I lose even more if I stick to 50 grams of carbs a day and 1200 calories. Out of curiosity I got some of those test strips for urine that test for ketosis. At 50 grams of carbs a day and 1200 calories i reach and stay in ketosis. Is that a good or bad idea? Or should I just count calories and ignore the carbs?
  7. My surgeon only does the Lap Band but that is what I preferred. I read something about how the Lap Band fills uniformly all the way around but the Realize band doesn't so I thought maybe the Lap Band would be a better choice.
  8. Yeah I'm with Cleo's Mom also. These surgeons all have a different idea of what to do and how to do it. I know 4 other women who are banded. We've all had different surgeons and all been given different directions about eating. So I emailed Allergan to ask what their take on it was and you know what they told me??? Your surgeon has been trained to perform the Lap Band procedure. You should follow his directions as to what to eat. WTH. The maker of the band can't even tell me what their standard is, or do they not know either?
  9. Well I don't really consider 1200 calories a day to be too low cal. My doctor says I should only eat 900-to me that's too low cal. I get between 65 and 90 grams of Protein a day and stay at or below 1200 calories.

I use MyFitness Pal on my iPhone. I'm addicted to it! It tracks food intake, weight, daily vitamin intake levels , exercise and daily nutrition info like total amounts of fat, carbs and calories. I can add my own recipes and the food database on it is huge. I was using lose it but I was having to add to many foods to it. I don't have that issue with MyFitness pal.
  11. do soft foods or liquids for a couple of days or resume eating normally? Last Sunday I had a stuck episode and I had to do liquids for a few days after that b/c solids wouldn't stay down. I had another stuck episode a few minutes ago and I'm wondering should I try again later to eat regular food or go to soft stuff instead? Today I wasn't chewing well enough. Last weeks was from the food being really dry.

Well I'm the same way lately. Dh told me last night that I need to start putting the kids to bed earlier if I was going to keep this up. :blushing:
  13. I currently have 6.5 cc's in a 10 cc band. My last fill was over a month ago. That said I have days where I can eat everything in sight and I'm hungry all day long. Then I have days where I'm not very hungry and I have a lot of stuck issues. The thing is my doc says if you are able to eat 65 grams of Protein a day and over 900 calories then you need more fill. I'm limiting myself to 1200 a day and some days I have 90 grams of protein. But I'm afraid if I get any more put in my band I won't be able to eat at all. Something got stuck on Sunday and I had to go back to liquids for 3 days b/c I couldn't keep any solids down after that. What do I do?
  14. I'm down to 178. I only have about 30 more pounds to lose. Should I wait until I'm at goal before doing my TT?? I've had 3 kids so belly is awfully flabby and stretched out. I'd like to have the smoothest flattest stomach possible:)
  15. That's not bad at all and it sounds yummy!! I love the pineapple flavored Greek Yogurt but they don't sell it here anymore:( I just make my own with pineapple and plain greek yogurt.
  16. Thanks ladies. Also I'm wondering, how much weight do you lose from the tummy tuck itself? I mean I know it won't be a huge amount but all that skin does weigh something right?

    Help- really strange pains

Are you sure it's not gas pains?
  18. I had 3 cc's put in at surgery then I got 1 more cc after that I get .5 each fill.
  19. Oh and I'm not exercising either:( I know I should but I have 3 kids, a dh that's always working and I'm in college full time. Between classes, the kids and homework I honestly have no extra time right now.
  20. Well as of this week my BMI is now Overweight instead of Obese:) I'm getting there. Though this week my band is wonky and I'm on liquids until Thursday. It's swollen or something and I can't hold down any food only liquids. I'm hoping that resolves by Thursday and there's not any real problem.
  21. Okay I talked my surgeons nurse. I'm on liquids until Thursday. If I can't keep food down by lunch time on Thursday then I have to go to the surgeons office. The nurse thinks I've irritated my band and it's swollen now. If that's right it should be better by Thursday if I stick to solids until then
  22. Okay I've tried to eat twice today. Both times I got stuck immediately. I can hold down liquids just fine but no food. It comes back up every time. Should I just go back to liquids for a couple of days and see if it gets better? I haven't had a fill since January so there's not anything new going on. I've been able to eat just fine so am I maybe just swelled?
  23. Okay it happened again this morning. I took my morning meds with about 10 oz of Water. I took them seperately rather than swallowing them all at one time. On the way to take my shower I started feeling like a pill was stuck. I ended up throwing up 3 times in the 15 minutes after that. Each time it was just water and no pills. After the third time I felt fine again. I have 2 weeks out of the month where I will feel tight like this and then 2 weeks in a row where I feel completely loose and can eat anything and everything I want. So am I overfilled or do I just need to slow down more or what?
  24. You could also check into a 401K loan if you or your spouse has one. The interest on those are very, very low. I know I looked at CareCredit at first and sometimes they offer the first 6,12, or 18 months with no interest. You might ask about that. That would at least give you some time to pay towards the principle before the interest starts kicking in. Another thing, just keep checking with different surgeons. We actually have one in my area that will do the band for $8900 in Mexico. That includes your plain ticket, all hospital charges and hotel accomodations plus one year of fills.
