spoiltmom replied to Rachel412's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Honestly I had surgery on Friday and was fine by Sunday. I never even used my pain meds at all. I hope you feel better soon. -

I'm sorry. I can definitely understand your fears. I cannot imagine being without my band now. Have you thought about a sleeve revision? -
I want a hamburger so bad! I can't eat bread anymore and that's fine. I can still have a patty with veggies but I dont know how to make one that is good and moist. The last time I made them I used 80/20 ground beef and pan fried them. They were so dry I couldn't eat them. Any tips for me?

Got a tiny fill today and goal weight issues....
spoiltmom posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think I'm pretty close to where I need to be fill wise so today the doctor added only .2 cc's. Now I can fill everything I drink. Like I feel it slowly going through my band. Is that normal? Also my other question is this. I'm currently 5' 5" and I weigh 174 now. I'd like to be around 140. My family doc said that's fine b/c it will put me at a normal healthy BMI. Also I have arthritis in both knees so my family doc said it's ideal to get me to a normal BMI. She said it would help lessen my knee pain. Anyway, my surgeon thinks that's unrealistic and I'll be too skinny. He thinks I should stop after I lose another 15 pounds. That would put me in a size 10/12 and my weight around 160. I would like to be at minimum a size 8. He says he's not going to put much more in my band because he wants me in maintenance mode after I hit 160 but that's not what I want. Am I being unreasonable? Before I started having weight issues I weighed 145 and I was a size 8. Advice? -
had lapband today 4/13/11
spoiltmom replied to options123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just keep walking and moving around as much as possible. My Lortab was also liquid form. I thought that's what all Lap Band surgeons prescribed. -
Got a tiny fill today and goal weight issues....
spoiltmom replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone. This is the second time he's mentioned a goal of 160/165. He's seems so adamant on it and I'm so not. I want to keep going. I'll just take it slow and see what happens. -
Way to go! Those are huge accomplishments:)

Magnesium & insulin resistance
spoiltmom replied to ElfiePoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your welcome! Just make sure if you try it that you get the name brand Natural Calm. vitacost or Vitamin Shoppe, I can't remember which, but one of them makes a generic version. It's not quite the same. It's awfully gritty and doesn't dissolve all the way. It's like trying to drink sand:( Natural calm does fizz but I mix it up and then let it sit 15 minutes. Then stir it again really good and let it sit. I drink it once most of the fizz is gone. -
What were YOUR favorite mushies???

Magnesium & insulin resistance
spoiltmom replied to ElfiePoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here's a site that may be helpful to you www.petergillham.com I take his natural calm magnesium supplement to stay regular. It also helps my neck cramps. -
How many of you use one of these? Which one would you recommend? They both have a pedometer built in right?
-
What did they ask you exactly? I've only ever been asked if I smoked or not or had any type of cancer or lung disease.

If I wanted to try low carb....
spoiltmom replied to Jess55's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tried it about a month ago. I found that if I stuck to 1200 calories a day that I could do 55 grams of carbs a day and still stay in ketosis. -
Things are better here also. I'm loving it:)

Shoud I or should I not
spoiltmom replied to martinbjl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here's my 2 cents:) After surgery the pain wasn't bad for me. I never even needed my prescription pain meds. I've been banded since August 2010 and like you I worried I might regret it but I don't. I'm loving it! As for the vomiting and nausea... for me I don't really get nauseas. If I eat the wrong thing and get stuck it just hurts. Once I throw up it's over and I feel 100% better. It's not like the vomiting and nausea you would experience with a stomach virus. Also, I don't throw up daily. Mostly about once a month when I eat the wrong things or I eat too quickly. I thought about doing it back in 2006 and I got scared and chickened out but last year I decided that since I kept thinking about it I should just give it a shot and I did. I've never looked back. I always thought I would worry about the foreign body thing also but I haven't. Do you know anyone else who has a band? If so you should talk with them also, if not go to a couple of Lap Band support group meetings and talk to some people there. As for the reflux I think for some it can go away but you just never know until you lose the weight and see what happens. When I had my band put in I had 3 kids at home. At that time they were 9,3 and 5 months. I was back to caring for them full time 2 days after my surgery. My surgeon said that I could do it but he said I wouldn't want to because picking up the baby would really hurt, but it didn't bother me at all. -
Those of you using My Fitness Pal

Wow! I never realized there were forums on that site. I've always just used the MFP app on my Iphone but I've started looking at the actual site and I'm finding some really good recipes on the forums there. I can't wait to try some of them out:) -
approved pain relievers/non-approved
spoiltmom replied to options123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon says I can have Ibuprofen or Tylenol. I even take Mobic every day. -
While I know that part of my problem with losing weight was due to always being hungry, I've also come to realize that I honestly think I'm addicted to food. I binge eat and I eat to feed my emotions. I also have depression so my emotions are all over the place. If I don't fix this I'll never reach my goal weight. Where do I go from here? Any advice? Should I just seek out a good counselor or what?

Calorie Deficit and Body bugg
spoiltmom replied to christina353's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would think with that big of a deficit every day you would eventually go into starvation mode and stop losing. Have you tried eating a little more to mix it up a bit?
