  1. An unfill isn't an option until I see a new surgeon because my current surgeon doesn't see a problem. I saw him 2 weeks ago and asked about an unfill and he said it was not needed.
  2. I rarely have chest pain, only when something gets stuck. Honestly the radiologist referred to it as my esophagus, he never really said anything about the pouch. The barium was going down but only a trickle was going through the band. The rest he said was sitting in the "esophagus". Still he said it had plenty of time to pass completely and it didn't. It just sat in the esophagus above my band.
  3. Did your dr think it was just esophageal dilation?? I go for weeks where I'm fine, no problems, pain or vomiting. Then I have weeks where I vomit CONSTANTLY. Sometimes to the point of dehydration. I am considering removal or sleeve revision depending on my Upper GI results.
  4. I've been banded 2 1/2 years. I have gotten down to 160 so yes I've lost weight. The problem is my diet is all over the place. I'm either too loose or too tight. I've spent the last week so tight that I threw up at least once a day and had nighttime vomiting and reflux. Now suddenly my restriction is gone and I can eat normally again. I can eat anything I want including vegetables, bread, chicken and fruits, nothing is off limits. I go back and forth like this constantly. When I'm tight I can only do soft crappy foods like cereals, Soups, crackers, Ice cream or sometimes liquids only, no food at all. When I'm not too tight I eat lots of grilled meats, chicken breast, fish etc and lots of green veggies. I've regained 15 pounds that I cannot get off. Also, if I have a headache and try to take something for it I get an intense burning that I'm assuming is coming from my pouch. It will last 45 minutes to an hour. My surgeon suggested liquid Advil but I get the intense burning even with that, even liquid Tylenol is a killer. I've had a love/hate relationship with my band for a while now but I think the hate is now outweighing the love. I'm considering removal. Advice?
  5. The other doctor requires that I get all my medical records and let him review them first to see if he will accept me as a patient. He also wants to read my op notes. How mad is my current surgeon going to be if I request all my records? I mean, if I can't find another doctor then I may HAVE to stick with my current one and I don't want to make him mad.
  6. My bariatric doctor. Actually my "bariatric doctor" is just a general surgeon. I'm in a very rural area. The closest surgeon that does only bariatrics and nothing else is 85 miles away. He is supposed to be an awesome doctor but HE REQUIRES the Upper GI first. I'm also looking at another doctor but he is 120 miles away and I'm not sure yet what his requirements are.
  7. I'm not really sure. I assume it's vomiting because sometimes it is an awful large amount. IDK. For example, Saturday at 8 am I slowly drank 8 oz of JUICE. I didn't have anything else. At 10:30 am, 2 1/2 hours later my chest started hurting and it all came back up. If it's just juice shouldn't it have gone down? I've ended up dehydrated twice over similar episodes.
  8. A new doctor won't touch me without an upper GI first. Since my PCP doesn't know much about the Lap Band she will order the upper GI if I can convince her/show her why I think I need it even though my surgeon says I don't.
  9. Basically he said that throwing up and being tight is just the new normal for me. He said its a problem I got when I traded my old problems off, like my excess weight and my high blood pressure. He said when I'm tight like that just do liquids for a week. He also feels I have some esophageal dialation but he said to fix it would require deflating my band which would make me gain weight. He said every banded patient has it so its not a big deal. His advice was just to leave my band alone and not mess with it. I'm frustrated. I have 3 kids that have ADHD. When I'm throwing up and living on protein shakes I just don't have the energy I need to keep up with them.
  10. I also have sleep apnea and I'm on a cpap at night with a full face mask. TMI but I threw up in my sleep Saturday night. I felt like I was draining. It ran all in my mask and down through my tubing. It was the protein shake I had drank 6 hours before:(
  11. I see my doctor today and yes I do have horrible allergies. I've read that can cause swelling but my surgeon does not believe that at all. I go for weeks just fine and then overnight I get so so tight that I'm throwing up for the next week. I know there's nothing good for me in ice cream but I'm hungry and some times when you go for days on just Protein shakes you want something different you know?
  12. I would have WLS again but I would NOT get another Lap Band. I am currently considering removal and revising to a sleeve.
  13. Remind me, If I have back pain while I'm eating is it because I'm eating too fast, or not chewing well enough, or both? It's right at or just above my brastrap to the right of my spine.

    Chia seeds anyone?

I'm wanting to add chia seeds to my shakes for their health benefits but I'm wondering if they are safe. Supposedly they swell after you eat them. Could they swell and overfill you?

    Chia seeds anyone?

    Thank You!
  16. Over the summer my band got too tight. I wasn't able to keep anything down and I kept getting fever, chills and body aches. I called my surgeon the same day and his advice was to stick it out, probably a virus. Well once I got an unfill and started drinking again my pains, chills and fever went away. I've been throwing up on and off now since Saturday. Last night for supper all I had was a Popsicle. At 4 am I woke up with nausea and threw up the Popsicle. Like clockwork I now have chills, body a he's and a temp of 101. I can't take anything for it because nothing will stay down. Do I wait until my surgeons office opens and call and beg him to see me or just go to the ER? At least at ER they can give me something for the body aches, and fever that will stay down and they can hydrate me. Chances are great that my doctor will make me schedule an appt for an unfill and that won't happen until next week when he's in the office again.

    Am I dehydrated?

I feel so much better today! I got a bit of fluid removed from my band yesterday afternoon and then started really pushing fluids. My fever is gone, my allergy eyes are way wing again(they were too dry to water and run yesterday) and all my nausea and vomiting is completely gone.

    Am I dehydrated?

Thanks guys. I saw my surgeon this morning and he was "busy". He had drink a cup of juice and told me to come back this afternoon and he will remove the fluid. My pulse was up, blood pressure down and I have a fever but he told me to keep sipping on juice and he will see me after lunch. I'm not happy. It wouldn't have taken him 5 minutes to fix my band.
  19. Yes my doctor knows and is okay with it. When I was first banded I used Mobic on a daily basis.
  20. In the morning I take my daily meds with my coffee. They go down just fine with no issues. I get TMJ headaches often though and always later in the day. If I take just 1 Aleve I feel this burning feeling for 20-30 minutes afterwards. I guess maybe its sort of like a heartburn feeling. I definitely feel like the burning is around my band. Should I try taking it with something warm instead or ask my doctor for a liquid version? It's not the Aleve itself, yesterday I took a Audafed and had the same burning pain.
  21. B12 huh? I'll have to look into that.
  22. It will take me weeks to get in with my surgeon but my PCP knows all about my band and is good with prescribing me meds that will go down easier. I could see her this week. Do you know if Aleve even comes in liquid? I know Motrin and Tylenol does but they don't work for me like the Aleve does.
