spoiltmom posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't judge my befores too harshly. At that time I had a newborn at home that was screaming 24/7 and not sleeping so my hair was never done and I was never dressed up. I know in this pic I look pregnant but I was actually like 4 months post partem. This is a size 18/20 taken at the start of my Pre Op diet: This is me yesterday in my new size 10 jeans:) : -

Should I or shouldn't I

First what's your BMI? I'm glad I got my band and I wish I would have done it sooner. It's been awesome for me! -
Those of you counting calories....
spoiltmom posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm out of lean ground meat so I'm using ground chuck for a recipe. I pan browned it, drained it and rinsed it. Now that I've gotten most of the fat out of it, how do I figure out how many calories and fat grams per serving? -
How often you organize your closets?
spoiltmom replied to Russian_BANDit_inNY's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I go through mine once a month. If it's too big it goes. If it's too tight or fits perfectly it stays. If I don't do this then it takes me forever to get dressed because I have to try so many things on before I find something that will fit. -
A few weeks ago I was too tight. I couldn't keep anything down and I was having reflux. Then I got an unfill. I'm eating again and having no reflux problems but when I drink coffee or eat something hot/spicy I get heartburn. I have had heartburn issues prior to the band. Is this something normal or am I a little too tight still? It's fine as long as I don't eat/drink any trigger foods.

August Rush in bandland!

Jan the spotting could be due to either. You should get your hormones checked. That may help you a great deal. Way to go Shadena and Khloe!! I'm now down to 165 and a size 10. I'm wanting to lose about 20 more though. -
Where do you buy your protein powder?
spoiltmom replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is that thick or thin? I bought some BSN Lean Dessert and it mixes up really, really thick. I'm not liking it. -
Poll: Which shake is the best?

You can also order a variety of samples from Nashuanutrition.com My favorite is the Syntrax brand. -
Almost 2 weeks ago I went for a fill. He added .5 cc's. After that I threw up constantly and was in pain. I went back this past Monday and he removed .2. After that I drink easier with no pain so I thought that fixed it. He said to do liquids for 24 hours and then eat after that. So 24 hours later I tried eating some soft food. It went down fine but the last little bit got stuck and I started throwing up again so I went back to liquids. On Wednesday I could only drink very small amounts. By yesterday I was able to drink more and I managed to get all my Protein shakes in for the day. I thought I had finally turned a corner. Then this morning I slowly drank my Protein shake. I got half of it down and started sliming and threw up. Now nothing wants to stay down-again. I called the docs office and they said Monday is a holiday so they will see me Tuesday for an unfill. I'm starting to get worried. I mean is un fill really all I need? Before that initial .5 fill that got me too tight I was able to eat everything and anything and was hungry constantly. Now I can eat nothing. I've gone from 176 to 165 and I'm still losing. Since my shake was liquid shouldn't have gone down instead of getting stuck? I'm not in pain so that's a good sign right? No pain just vomiting? TMI but ever since this started my urine stays dark and thick so I'm assuming that even though I can get some liquids down I'm still not getting enough down.

Insurance United HealthCare UHC - Approval Process at 35 BMI
spoiltmom replied to DrmBig4Evr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have UHC choice plus. I was told that MOST UHC plans require a 6 month supervised diet before approval. My insurance is through my husband's work. My husband's work doesn't put strict criteria on weight loss surgery. My BMI was 37 and I had sleep apnea and high blood pressure. I was approved within one week of my papers being submitted. I did have to do a dietician eval and psych eval first though. -
I'm starting to hate my band:(
spoiltmom replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
FINALLY! I guess I was still swollen. Yesterday I was able to get all my Protein drinks in, 4 small servings of soft/mushy foods and my daily meds and it all went down with no problems. Today I will try the same thing and if all goes well then tomorrow I may try something else. I'm hoping maybe I was just extremely swollen and won't need an unfill. My vehicle is currently in the shop AND my babysitter is tied up Tuesday. Getting another unfill would entail borrowing a vehicle and dragging all 3 of my kiddos with me. I was not looking forward to it. It will be a long time before I get another fill, that is for sure. -
((HUGS)) I hope you feel better soon.

vaginal hysterectomy
spoiltmom replied to lovemysgt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a vaginal hysterectomy back in September. My Ob/Gyn said that the anesthesiologist required the band to be empty. Something about being able to get a tube down your throat if they need to. -
I'm starting to hate my band:(
spoiltmom replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
He's not concerned though. He says as long as I can swallow my spit then I'm okay until Tuesday. I just called the ER and they said all they would do for me was IV fluids. They don't do unfills and they said they will call the surgeon and let him know I'm there but he still won't come there and unfill me. My surgeon isn't even on call this weekend. It's someone else instead. -
I think I need an unfill help please
spoiltmom posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeons office closes at noon tomorrow and my surgeon is in surgery all day tomorrow. I got .5 cc's added on Tuesday. Since then I haven't been able to eat anything-even ice cream got stuck and came up. Today I've had like 8 cups of hot coffee and some hot tea. Hot, thin liquids are all I can get down and I have to sip those. I've tried eating but I throw up everytime. A while ago I took 2 tiny pills with some hot tea. They went down fine but I now have pressure in my chest and tons of slime. It's possible in so tight due to the swelling. I threw up within an hour of my fill and I've thrown up 10 or 12 times since then. I'm thinking with the weekend here I should just get some removed instead. What do you think? -
It is an antacid/anti reflux med. If you have issues taking it in applesauce the pharmacy can compound it into a liquid. My baby took it for months that way.

spoiltmom replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It would be awesome if my doc had someone on call like that. My weekend was miserable. I was so sore and uncomfortable and on top of that I was sneezing my head off and our darn lights went out for 13 hours on Saturday after a storm so I was burning up, sneezing my head off and my chest was hurting so badly from the throwing up. It was just a sucky weekend. -
Is my band too full?

I would think you are a bit too tight. Even a slight unfill could do wonders for you. -
I think I need an unfill help please
spoiltmom replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They had me drink but I didn't feel really tight until about an hour after my fill. Today he removed .2 cc's and I feel so much better! I can drink cold stuff with no pain and eat mushies. Before he did the unfill I was hurting and had lots of foamy stuff coming up. Now it's all gone. I do still have some reflux but I'm hoping that will get better also. -
What do you think about this suit? I want something that covers my thighs but is still cute:) http://www.onehanesplace.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product__10151_-1_11001_119750_24557 The $75.00 is quite a lot though. Opinions?

spoiltmom replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone! The funny thing was when I got my fill in February he said we need to go really slow because your getting close and he did just .2 cc's. Then the other day he's like your getting so close I'm only going to do .5 cc's. I was like what? I expected another .1 or .2 cc's. -
Found something great to flavor protein shakes with...
spoiltmom posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've never been a huge fan of the Torani or DaVinci syrups but I found these drops that are awesome! They are called Capella flavor drops. You use 1 drop per oz of liquid. They taste awesome and the bottles are tiny so they don't take up much space. I've tried them in my coffee and protein shakes. I plan to try them in my plain greek yogurt. http://capellaflavordrops.com/flavordrops.aspx
