I contemplated surgery for a couple of years, researching etc.  While eating dinner with a friend that I hadn't seen in a while, I found out she had the lap-band surgery a few months earlier.  I was so excited for her to share her surgery.  Afterwards I was convinced this is what I was going to do.  I called the same Dr. she used and started the process.  I was a self pay so I was able to get my surgery done within a couple of months.  I remember waiting for the call to schedule surgery.  When they called it was scheduled for 2 days later.  I was a little freaked out because there wasn't much notice, but after the immediate shock I was ready and excited.  My husband wasn't really on board, but I was doing this for me and nothing was stopping me.  He did go with me for surgery and take care of me after surgery.  By the way he likes the results. After surgery you have the gas pains, I used the large heat pads so I wouldn't have to lay on a heating pad all day.  I could have gone back to work in a week, but I took 2 weeks because I was able too.  The first few days are not the most comfortable, but it is not the worst.  You had surgery so yes you will have some discomfort.  I followed the diet provided from my doctor without any problems.  It has been 2 years since my surgery and I haven't weighed in like I should have.  I have noticed more of a difference in my clothes than what the scale showed.  I was wearing a 22 and I now wear a 14.  I would like to wear a size 7 - 10.  I have not excersied but I highly recommend that you do for better results. You will have to make good food choices, this is not a miracle surgery.  Speaking from experience, I find that sweets go down easily...........not good.  I have not had a soda since my surgery and I don't miss them.  I drink water and a lot of crystal light.  I have found everyday is different.  One day I am not able to eat a particular food, but the next day I can eat it without any problem.  I promise you will find out what you can and can't eat.   It has become a way of life and I have no regrets and it was the best gift I have every given myself.Oh I do have to mention how great it is to hear how great you look, and when people don't recognize you and seeing the surprise on their face..lol
