  1. How tight your band is does not equal weight loss. It's about eating right and exercising. 4 pounds in 2 weeks is great. It's right on track.
  2. You shouldn't expect more than 1 cc per fill. The first fill isn't about hitting that sweet spot instantly. It's better to put too little than to put too much. I don't understand why people expect so much. It's like hardly anyone is doing their research...

    Water Exercise Classes

Has anyone done any water exercise classes? If so, how do you like them? What type of people are there? (ie skinny, very healthy, fit, overweight, want to be fit, etc.) I don't like being in a swim suit, but I think water exercise would be fun. I just don't want to feel self-conscious if there is a bunch of skinny beautiful women around... you know?

I love mine. I love how I can log my food. It keeps me from eating bad things. Because if I didn't log it I know I would be lying to myself. I think it also helps with portion control. I only eat the portion that is on the package. In all, I really like it. No one looks at me as if I were crazy. I really don't care what anyone says. No one is going to lose this weight but me.

    No Straws!!

Every doctor is different and every patient is different. I guess some people are more likely to get gas. I don't have a problem with straws. Just keep doin' what you're doin'. :w00t:
  6. 1000 calories is too little! You can still exercise though. Get some 3-5 pound weights and do some lifting with your arms...

It tells me I should burn 3450 calories and that I should consume 2400 calories. Each person is different. It depends on your goals that you set, your weight, and health.
  8. I was banded April 7th. I had my second fill today. I had my first fill on May 3rd. During those two weeks, I lost 6 pounds! I'm doing great. I love my band. )

    May 2010 Mile Challenge

Get a pedometer. I have one and I use it often. Apparently 10,000 steps is considered healthy for weight loss. 10,000 steps equal 5 miles. 2,000 steps equals 1 mile. Pedometers are great for those who have sedentary jobs.

    average weightloss per week?

Average is .5-2 pounds a week. Clearly, everyone is different though.

    Do you use a straw?

I still use a straw. I don't have any problems with using a straw. I guess it depends on the doctor, but it shouldn't since we pretty much have the same band...

    Slow losers lol

I felt like I was losing slowly, but then I did a search and like everyone said the band is for losing 1-2 pounds a week. I guess when people get weight loss surgery they expect insane results quickly. It also seems that people around the patient want to see insane results. It makes us feel bad when those around us question our "losing abilities." You know?
  13. The only mistake you are making is being obese for the rest of your life. If you don't get the band, you'll still have to lose the weight somehow. If you are scared talk to your normal doctor and see if you can get on some kind of weight loss program Go see a nutritionist. Do that for a couple of months and see if you still want the band.

    Protein Bars

I like the snickers marathon Protein bars. They are like 290 calories with 20 grams. They are huge though. I don't eat one in a setting. I normal nibble at it or eat half at one point and eat other half at a different point. They are $7 and some change at Wal-Mart. Also, I have tried the target brand of protein bars. They have 14g of protein. They are really good. They are $3.99. However, they are smaller so I can eat one in one setting. The Pure Protein bars are nasty. They smell like they taste. Blah!
  15. I agree with everyone. It depends on your BMI and your insurance. My BMI is high so losing any weight wouldn't have really affected my chances of approval. I did end up losing 5 pounds on my own. However, it doesn't hurt to start eating healthy and exercising though... things don't change once you have the band. It doesn't turn on some switch in your brain that says "starting eating better now."
  16. Did you lose any weight while you were waiting? You probably could have lost a good deal of weight during the year and a half you were waiting with frequent visits with your doctor and a nutritionist. I lost 5 pounds on my own before my pre-op diet. Though, it is easier to lose weight with the band than without out it...
  17. When I'm full, I know I've eaten too much. If I feel satisfied, I know I've eaten the right amount. Also, I know when to stop when I feel like I have to do a big sign. I've gone past the point before, and it doesn't feel good.

    for girls only!

I had my period during my pre-op diet, but that was when it was supposed to happen. HOWEVER, it restarted a couple of days after surgery! It lasted 18 days with some very heavy days. UGH. I have the Nuvaring and that makes me pretty regular. However, throughout this whole weight loss thing, I'll hope for the best because I heard that losing weight can effect your period.

I just ordered mine this morning. I did all of the discounts that Amy did. It took me forever to order both things though. It took me through loops! I would put it in my shopping cart then it would somehow not appear in my shopping cart, then it would mess up my address, then it would sign me out. lol I don't think they wanted me to have those discounts. But I finally got both ordered. I this will really work for me.
  21. My largest incision had stitches on the inside, however, the others just had steri strips.

I'm trying to figure out how the BB works. Does it have like a USB port that I can plug into my computer? I'm so confused, lol. Can you explain it in layman's terms? That would be so helpful! lol
  23. That's disgusting. It's nasty. Ugh. I only imagine her hygiene, health, physical, and emotional problems...

    i am soo mad!

That really sucks. I'm sorry that you had to go through that. Just a FYI: I got a fill last week, and it didn't hurt. So, just because it didn't hurt doesn't mean you didn't have a fill. However, I do believe that your doctors sucks and basically lied to you.
