    Filling, long-lasting foods

I had chili today, and it was soooooo filling! It lasted for hours. Check it out. :puke:

    Missed Periods

I wish I could miss a period or two. Mine seem to be longer, and I seem to spot more. Ugh. :puke:
  3. User error is probably the biggest reason why bands slip.

    Gas Pains?

Shelley & JanB, Was your gas pain very sharp and very painful? I was banded back in April and I've been having very sharp and painful pain under my left rib cage, down to my belly button, and into my back. I wonder if this is gas. How would you describe your pain? I didn't have gas pain when I had the surgery. Odd, huh?
  5. I'm sorry about your very rare infection. I know that must be hard. Get well soon!

    UGH......gained weight???

That's normal. Your weight fluctuates with water. For example, before I workout, I may weigh 2 pounds more than after it. I've sweat off a good amount of water. Also, your weight fluctuates with bowel movements and the such. This is TMI, but I decided to see what I would weigh before and after a BM. I ended up weighing 1 pound lighter than before my BM. Yeeeeahhh.... don't worry about those 2 pounds. They will be gone soon enough.
  7. HALLELUJAH! (Pretend to hear angels singing) I'm glad to see that a couple of people got it. Getting the band was the worse pain that I've been in. It was soooo worth it though. I couldn't have lost 67 pounds by myself. Plus, why would you want to go through another surgery to get it removed? ...... somtimes I wonder how some people pass the psych evaluation.
  8. Yes. I recently got a fill even though I was getting stuck. I was getting stuck because I was trying to eat the wrong things... mostly bread. I'm such a hard head! Getting stuck on bread is a sign you may be getting close to your sweet spot, but sometimes you need to do maintance fills.

    Hate to exercise...

I hate to exercise. I really do. But I know I HAVE to. That is why I got a personal trainer. I pay him to train me. Therefore, I HAVE to go to the gym. I got a gym membership but that means nothing if I don't use it. If I get my fat 260 pound butt on a treadmill and run a mile, anyone can!
  10. Wow. I would hate to see you give birth to a baby. "I hate my child. I am in so much pain and discomfort down there...." Pain is temporarily. I was in a crap load of pain, but I honestly couldn't have lost 67 pounds by myself. You'll get better.
  11. I love you. lol I've NEVER thrown up either. If I ever vomit, I'm going to drop everything and run (or drive) to my dr's office! I do bring my stuck food up some of the time. I kind of push it up like I would do with mucus. A lot of times it does go through though.
  12. Great post! I also think there needs to be a thread about vomiting vs. productive burping. I've had my band for over 6 months and have yet to vomit. In fact, I think the last time I vomited was 2 years ago because of some stomach flu. Vomiting requires pretty much your abdominal muscles to push the food up. Productive burping is like when a cat is trying to cough up a hair ball (with or without the added noise, lol). I saw a thread and the woman was like "I'm scared because I'm not vomiting like the rest of you!" WTH? Really... Thanks for your great post. I think you need to post it in the pre-op section too!
  13. When you type "lap band" into google, this forum is probably on the top 5 websites listed. That is the reason why you hear more negative things than positive. People go here because they are scared, worried, paranoid, whatever. So they post it here. Most of the time it's nothing. Other times it's serious. Trust me, you will eat. I still eat. I wish I didn't eat. But you have to eat! If you don't eat you won't lose weight. So don't worry about not eating. I also drink alcohol, but I'm not a drunk so I only drink it once in a while. I also have soda once in a while (I shouldn't though - actually no one should drink soda. It's bad for you!) I was in a lot of pain. It was the worse pain I've ever felt. I've never had children, so I don't know if that's saying much. The pain does go away. It's just frustrating. I would have the surgery all over again if I had to. There is no way I could lose 67 all by myself.
  14. I'm not sure what a band slip feels like, but you will know if you're stuck. You'll feel it in your throat or sometimes in your back if it's really bad. It's very uncomfortable and frustrating.

    You Guys are SCARING ME!

There's nothing wrong with you. Vomiting has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE BAND. I've had my band for 6 months, and I have not vomited once! I wish people stop associating the band with vomiting.
  16. I was 327 when I was banded. The reasons why I chose the band were: 1. It's reversible. 2. I have control. My band can be adjusted, and I won't have to just simply "deal" with just a smaller stomach. 3. Bypass patients will gain weight back. 4. I know a couple of people who had the bypass and they don't look too good. They look saggy. They lose weight too fast and they look saggy and sick. 5. I don't have nutritional deficiencies. 6. Lap Band patients don't have dumping syndrome (google it if you don't know what it is) 7. Surgery is minimally invasive. I have all of my organs and nothing had to be "rerouted." 8. If bypass patients want to make "adjustments" they have to have another surgery. I.e. doctors have to go in and restaple their stomach. 9. I'm sure the ladies that I know that had the bypass are not just losing fat - they are losing muscle. 10. Bypass has a higher risk of complications. Opti-fast.... Day one

Ugh. I hated optifast. Blah! It makes me nauseated just thinking about it. Sometimes I gag when I try to make a protein shake. I still think about mixing the opitfast. Blaaaaaaaaaah!
  18. I didn't know what time to be at the hospital until the day before. I was working the day before my surgery, so I was trying to work and trying to play phone tag with the nurse at the hospital. It was very frustrating. I wish I had knew a little more ahead of time than just the day before.

    Shoulda, Coulda and Woulda

I think the hardest thing about dating after the band is that guys see what you are NOW not for what you will be. I know I won't be this fat forever, but they don't see that. I'm not sure if guys are going to beg for you attention. (They don't beg attention to my skinny friends) Dating after the lap band is hard. I've tried to date a couple fo guys, but it just doesn't seem right. I hope you have good luck though!

SLIPPED BAND...It is a BIG DEAL!

That sounds so scary. I'm sorry you had to go through that. I'm sure the person who said "a slip band is no big deal" is probably ignorant. I hope you feel better soon!
  22. Slim fast gives me horrible gas plus "extra." I can't stand the stuff.

    Vacation

So you could eat more? That defeats the purpose of the lap band. You're suppose to be practicing eating habits... etc.
  24. A couple of people at my work has had the gastric bypass. One has had her's done a month after I was banded. She has lost a lot more weight than me, but she's so saggy looking. It's like everything (fat and loose skin) is falling down. I congratulate her on her progress, but she looks kinda bad. That is one of the many reasons why I chose the lap band. My weight loss is steady. :rolleyes2:
