    Tossing the Scale??

I weigh myself, but I really don't count it. In my ticker, I use the weight that I get at my doctor's office. P.S. What does trinity mean in your signature? I secretly love Twilight. lol

    Always Cold

I've grown a tail since being banded.
  3. I had ripping/tearing pain where my port incision is. I was in soooo much pain. I suggest you take your pain meds and Gas-x. It does help. I think you'll feel better in about a week. At least I hope so!
  4. It seems that new bandsters are NOT doing research. I have seen more "OMG I'M 3 DAYS OUT AND OMG BUT I CAN'T LOSE WEIGHT! OMG OMG OMG OMG!" Good Gosh! The band is not magic. I'm a month out from surgery and I've lost 1.2 pounds. I'M FINE WITH THAT! Because I know that I will lose more weight later. You're still healing. I'm still healing. Have patience, PLEASE!
  5. The only trouble was that they make you move from one stretcher to another when you're more than half way drugged.

    can the port move?

When I had my first fill, my dr. said that my port was on its side. Either it moved that way or that's the way he put it like that by mistake or something.
  7. Manda87

You got to move it, move it.

My mom bought a treadmill for the house maybe a year ago. It's only been used like 7 times, if that. So, I've been on that every day for 30 minutes. I end up doing a mile. Also, while I walk I carry 3 pound weights in my hand. I lift them over my head and such. Also, I just got a balance ball and a resistance workout band. I'm going to figure out how to incorporate that into my work out.
  8. Mine was about a month after surgery.
  9. Some people have insanely big signatures with big graphics that slow up my computer.

    What is this feeling???

Your stomach is swollen so you may have some restriction/tightness.
  11. I think season three's winner did gain all of his weight back. They had some kind of show either on the discovery health channel or TLC about his weight gain and how he was going to get it off again.
  12. I had my first fill today. It was fun. It didn't hurt at all. My doctor is awesome too. I don't have a real desire to eat though. Anyway, I wear those underwire bras. When I sit it feels as though it is pushing on my stomach. Since my fill today, I feel it even more pushing down. Anyone else have this problem?

    Infection

Also! Wash your hands. You could have been poking at it, and you had MRSA on your hands. Hand washing is the best way to prevent infections!

    Infection

MRSA is pretty much everywhere. It's even on your skin when you are healthy. I'm sure most people reading this has some MRSA on them, but not an infection of MRSA. You'll be ok.

No sterile gloves used in Mexico?

Just before my surgery, I had a lap tech not use gloves to draw blood. I thought that was a little weird. I'm a CNA and I use gloves for big and simple things like helping someone brush their teeth. I'm a germaphobe though.

    Lack of knowledge about Lap-Band

What does a PCP do when they cannot help you? They refer you to a specialist. For example, my PCP won't treat me for infertility, however my OB/GYN has more knowledge. It's crazy how many people think doctors are Gods and they have magic in their fingers. I hate to state the obvious, but doctors are human too.

    co-morbidities

    Osteoarthritis, maybe acid reflux?

    Pre-Op Hell

I almost went crazy too. I started watching the Food Channel (apparently a lot of people do the same, lol). Head hunger is crazy. The last couple of days of my 2 week diet, I really didn't drink anything. Bad advice, though. I didn't have any desire to drink anything. I was supposed to have 5 shakes a day, but I ended only have 2. Again, bad advice. It does get better though. I promise you.

    post-op ..home care

I will have to say that make sure that you have something to hold onto when you sit down and get up from the toliet. You'll have to use your arms because it will hurt if you try to get up or sit down the "normal" way.

    post-op ..home care

I let my mom do most of the driving for the first couple of days. Also, I couldn't really bend down so if something was on the floor or I dropped something, I would have to have someone pick it up for me. Also, use slip on shoes. That way you won't have tie anything. Also, I got "stuck" on the bed a couple of times (hahahaha) and I had to have my mom help me. Other than that, everything was ok.

    Hunger? Day of Surgery?

The last thing you will be thinking about is food. You will be in pain. Bring a bottle of water and chicken broth if you're staying the night in the hotel. I wasn't really hungry, but I knew I had to have something in my stomach. Plus, I wanted to put something in my stomach when I took the pain meds.

    Insurance Angst!

I got a response back within a week and a half.
  23. I think the fact that they exercise the whole day is the main reason why they lose so much weight. You really shouldn't compare your weight loss with those on the Biggest Losers. It is not reasonable to lose 10 pounds in a week unless you're on a liquid diet, plus pretty much all of the weight coming off would be Water. With the band, the idea is that you would lose faster than with "regular dieting," but you would lose slower with than the gastric bypass.
  24. Usually, even before being banded, I would take water and bring my own snacks. Theater food is so expensive anyway.
  25. You don't have to have fun with cigarettes or alcohol! However, choosing alcohol would be the lesser of the two evils.
