  1. I have the same requirements as well. I was banded May 4th. I am having a hard time getting the protein requirement. I am very tired of having soup, jello, and the protein shakes. I will start on pureed foods next week, but I'm not really looking forward to that either. At least I can have mashed potatoes then though! I do pureed for a week then soft foods for a week. After that I can have a regular diet. So looking forward to that!
  2. Hey all, What is all this restriction business? I'm 12 days away from surgery and have no idea what restriction is? Is that when your stomach tells you it doesn't like what you are eating? My dr hasnt' told me anything about fills yet either. So I have no idea about fills and restrictions. Maybe I should be asking more questions to my dr.

    Any May 2010 Bandsters?

My surgery is May 4th!! It was originally scheduled for April 20, but Aetna insurance denied it the first time. They denied it because my 2008 BMI was 39.9 and it needed to be 40. Come on, really?!?!? 0.1% away and they can't accept it. So my doctor figured something out but it had to be moved into May. I'm on my 2 week protein only diet. It's been hard for sure. Especially since I've used this time to go cold turkey on diet coke as well, which I LOVE! The first day, the headache was insane. But it's day 3 and it's not so bad. I've had both my pre-op appts and with my dr and the hospital, so now it's really just a waiting game til the 4th gets here. I've told pretty much anyone I can. I've gotten some really good support too. I'm really excited.
  4. Hey all. I am in the process of getting the lap band surgery. I starting everything on 12/10/09 with the seminar, saw the surgeon 12/17/09. I have to do an upper GI scan and an x-ray on 1/4. I do the psych eval and the nutrition counseling on 1/6. Aetna won't cover it unless I do a 3 month program, so I am hoping it will be approved in March to do the surgery in April. I am 28 years old and have been obese/overweight my whole life. Thank you genes. lol. I have teetered back and forth about doing the surgery and am finally doing it. I have gained a significant amount of weight in the last 2 years, now being 255. I am definitely not happy with myself about that. It's time for a change. I am glad I found this site. It seems to have a lot of great information.
