Calcium Citrate vs. Calcium Carbonate
stewart replied to sixtythreenova's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor said calcium citrate is the best. We can absorb it better. I do have great news though, I get my calcium citrate in a chewy bite and they are to die for! I love the chocolate (it is like a caramel texture) and the raspberry is great (like a Now N' Later candy). They are Bariatric Advantage brand and I buy them off of Amazon. You should contact them and ask for a sample. You can get your calcium citrate in a chew, it is great. -
Questions about fills, protein shakes and suppliments....

I think if you buy a dry protein powder, you can get it in a larger quantity and it will last longer. You need to keep up on your calcium, iron and vitamins. Your doctor should check your blood periodically to let you know if you have any deficiencies. I take the Vita Band chewable vitamin by Bariatric Advantage. I buy it from Amazon and you can also get it from Amazon.Uk. I don't know if you have access to either of those from Korea. It is designed for people with the band and I think the berry flavor is the best. Best of luck! -
I buy all of my vitamins and minerals in chewable form. I struggled before surgery with swallowing pills. I mix brands between Celebrate and Bariatric Advantage. I prefer the taste of the Bariatric Advantage Berry Vita Band that is designed for our procedure. I order them from Amazon. I cannot stand the bitter taste of crushed pills! If it is rx, I would ask if it comes in a capsule form to dissolve easier.

In the beginning you can expect that gas feeling and if you try to hold it in, it will hurt! After a while, your body will adjust and things will hopefully settle down. You can try a probiotic and see if that helps. I bought one by Bariatric Advantage from Amazon.com and it seemed to help me get things under control. I think it is important to watch your dairy and bread intake, that seemed to affect me. Good luck!

Has anyone tried the chewable vitamins? I am taking the Vitaband multi vitamin from Bariatric Advantage that is designed for lap band patients. They have chewable iron, calcium, and various products that are also chewable. I had problems with swallowing pills before my surgery so these have been a lifesafer. You can now buy them on Amazon and Ebay and it makes it so much easier for me to get them in the mail. My doctor recently put me on iron and the chewable grape has a great taste.
