I had a mint one day at work....terrible after taste from the shakes, needed something, just about got ripped apart by my co-workers!!! It was awesome they were so supportive but I was like 11 or 12 days in and miserable and pretty much was 'give me my damn mint or I'll gnaw your arms off'. Support is fabulous though, glad you have it!!!

Pre-Op Liquid Diet is a fail for me, HELP!
SoccerMomma73 replied to amcdowell779's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Talk to your PA, ask if there are things you can do to keep from feeling like you're starving. Do they have a list of 'free foods' that you can snack on (celery, cauliflower, cucumbers) stuff that will give you a crunch and fill you up....I know it's hard, but somehow you have got to find a way to work through this.....you CAN do this!!!!! Part if the pre-op is to shrink your liver, part of it is to prove you can follow a regiment for an extended period of time. Post-op, if you cheat on the wrong things at the wrong time you can do damage...you have to show them you can do this correctly. And lastly....do you have a counselor or therapist? It may help to talk this out and make sure there's not an underlying reason you are sabotaging yourself.... Good luck! You CAN do this!!!! -

Five days post-op and feeling more human by the day . So very weird to just not be hungry, at all. I know this is temporary but such a nice change after starving to death for 2 weeks pre-op!!! I can't remember if I posted this here or post-op but I really didn't have a huge issue with pain. Yes it hurt but with the medications it was tolerable. In the last 72 hours I've taken 3 half doses of pain medication total.... My biggest issue has been dizziness be nausea!! The nausea was terrible!!!! Thursday and Friday was pretty sure I was just going to die, today that is starting to get better. Yay!!! So for all you fab Feb pre-oppers, keep pushing on! You are so close and you can do this!!! Good luck to this weeks batch!!!

I have my own horror story I'm actually a failed lap band converted to RNY. Had my band in December 2009, lost 70-75 pounds but struggled the entire time I had it, if I had PMS or my allergies were flared up or I was stressed out, I would barely be able to tolerate fluids and absolutely couldn't eat during those times. I'd come to accept the fact that my band would eventually have to go but last July got extremely sick, stomach pain turning into chest, jaw, shoulder pain, again barely tolerating liquids. Discovered my band had slipped and my stomach was herniated up over the band. Had an urgent band removal which was supposed to be converted to bypass at that time but once the doc got in I had so much swelling and inflammation from my band that he didn't feel it was safe to convert to RNY at that time. So he removed my band and sent me home to heal for 6 months. It has been a LONG road....I cannot tell you how glad I am to finally be post-op and moving on with this!!!!! Again, I wish you the best!!!

Welcome to the club and congrats on having rocking insurance!!!! I'm 5 days post-op fromRNY so not much experience yet. I have 2 dear friends who go sleeved in Nov. 2011, one has lost about 20 pounds, the other 40 (he needed to lose at least 150). They eat around their sleeve and essentially they have failed their sleeve but it just seemed too easy to do.... Good luck in your decision!!!! Under the heading 'things I never thought I'd say out loud'. THIS MORNING I WENT POO POO IN THE POTTY!!!!! Woohoo!!!! So all parts are working as needed. Still having a lot of dizziness and nausea. Truly that's been my biggest issue so far. Pain, not horrible, fatigue fairly miserable, emotions all over the place, but the nausea and dizziness totally blow :/. I'm still blaming anesthesia but if it's truly that it should be resolving in the near future... Let's just keep rocking and rolling ladies! We got this!!!! Help! Being revised from band to RNY on Monday. I don't know what to expect!

I'm already getting bored out of my mind!!!! My mom had 'stomach stapling' 30 years ago and while she is awesome and the best mom in the universe, I'm about to strangle her!!!! She's trying to be supportive but also thinks a lot of what I have to do is total bunk and keeps asking if I can eat, x,y,z....and then seems exasperated when I say no (FYI, she had no pre-op other thanNPO day of surgery, and her post-op was to use common sense and eat healthy foods....so she was eating Soups and crackers the day he came home from surgery). I'm not hungry but I'd kill for a cracker!!!!! HW 312, pre-op (lap-band) 294, pre-op (RNY) 255, surgery date 2/11/13, goal weight 154, current weight 240 -

Made it home late last night (by home I mean my parents so mom can babysit me for a couple days). Yesterday was miserable, after I had what I think was dumping off the lortab liquid, I never really got the dizziness and nausea under control. I had several shots of zofran with minimal improvement, dry heaved the whole way home only to find out the pharmacy had nothing for nausea for me. ::sigh:: it was a long night. Finally stopped throwing up sometime after midnight (dry heaving, nothing to throw up!!!) still queasy and extremely dizzy if I move. I am burping and tooting like a frat boy so all necessary parts are functioning. I haven't had anything for pain since before noon yesterday and really no major complaints in the pain department (except when the pulled my JP drain, holy crappola!!!!!!). I did have a little Greek yogurt for Breakfast, my first non-clear anything since last Saturday! It was divine and had no issues with the tummy at all. Gonna get crazy with cream of wheat for lunch I think, something warm sounds wonderful. So I guess all in all doing well. I will be happy if no one EVER sticks anything up my behind again....that was not a fun day boys and girls!!! And congrats to everyone who made it over to the flip side while I was out if it. At long last I am passing gas...please let me go home today!!! So I've been on oral pain medications since early yesterday. About 20 minutes after I got a dose late this morning I got dizzy, queasy, clammy, thought I was going to puke and pass out. Got some Zofran which helped queasy a bit but still felt like hell for a couple hours....almost had to be the pain medication. Lord I hope I'm not one that dumps on every thing they eat....that would suck!!!
