SoccerMomma73 replied to ArmyWife&Mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Feb. 11, I was off through the 19th, worked 1/2 days the 20, 21, and 22, then was back full time in the 25th. The first couple were a strain. I'm making it through the day okay now but by the end of the day I am whooped! It's only been 3 weeks, must remind myself it's only been 3 weeks :$ -

An A1C under 6.5 is considered good control. Fasting glucose in a perfect world is <110, 116 is not bad but not perfect. Protein in your urine USUALLY means there's some damage to your kidneys....protein molecules are rather large and usually in a kidney that is working well, the itty bitty filters in the kidney catch the protein molecules and return them to the blood stream. As kidneys get damaged the holes in the filters get bigger and the larger protein molecules can squeeze through and you start to see them in your urine. (Some people naturally have a little protein I their urine and there are dozens of other reasons to have protein in your urine as well...this not is not meant to be medical advice!!! Just a friendly explanation!). If the protein is from your diabetes the best thing to do is keep your glucose under control, keep your blood pressure under control, and be healthy!!! A nephrologist is a kidney specialist and will give a who lot longer technical explanation. Congrats on your A1C, that is fabulous!!!! What ya eating tonight?
SoccerMomma73 replied to OleHippieGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
FF retried beans were on my liquids list I could start the week after surgery....I thinned them a bit with chicken stock while I was on liquids but once I went to mushies I started going thicker with them. I now eat them at the consistency they come out of the can at with no problems... (Other than gas! Yay beans!!!) I can only do an ounce at a time so maybe that's a difference but like I said, it's one of the first foods my nutritionist approves post-op! Good luck!!! I am wiped out!!! Spent the weekend camping in freezing weather with cub scouts, down in the mid 20's at night (thank god for the electric blanket!!!). I am so tired and sore (I'm guessing from sleeping on the ground). I need a weekend to recover from my weekend!!!! So glad our entire group of Fabulous February's are finally on the flip side!!!! Can't wait to see what the next few months holds for all of us HW 312, pre-op (lap-band) 294, pre-op (RNY) 255, surgery date 2/11/13, goal weight 154, current weight 234.8 -

FYI Tylenol pm has diphenhydramine in it...which is BENADRYL....so yeah, waste of your money if the Benadryl didn't do it. I haven't slept worth a darn either...I though since I started working full time this week that I'd be exhausted and just crash but nope, not happening. -
And here comes March!!!!! Good luck guys!!!! HW 312, pre-op (lap-band) 294, pre-op (RNY) 255, surgery date 2/11/13, goal weight 154, current weight 234.8

It's one of those 'ask your doc' moments but I've been taking extra strength Tylenol caplets since about a week out without any issue! I was scared to try the syrup so figured what the heck and tried the pills...no problems on my end! First day back after RNY on Feb. 11. I worked a 1/2 day today, tomorrow, and Friday. Then back to full time next Monday. While everything went fine, I am totally whooped!! It was really nice to hear 'OMG you already look thinner' a couple times though (even if they were lying!!!). Glad to be back in the groove again but I do believe it is bedtime for this girl!!!!! I had a longer hospital stay with the RNY because I wasn't passing gas and my surgeon is picky. I honestly don't recall a huge difference in pain between the two. For both I took pain meds for 3 or 4 days after I got home and that was all. I took a couple extra days off after the RNY. I was definitely a little slower getting around after the RNY.....that said 16 days post op and have been back at work full time several days and I'm going camping with cub scouts this weekend....so I'm okay

I started with the lap-band....because it seemed so easy. Reversible, help my appetite, etc. I was miserable with my band for 2 1/2 years before it slipped, herniated my stomach and requiring emergency removal. My 'so easy' lap-band had done so much damage and scarring that my surgeon could not convert me to an RNY and sent me home to heal for 6 months....I'm now2 weeks post-op from my RNY. The band works for some. I was not that lucky. Even following the rules I had problems. Even with a band that was empty or almost empty I had problems. If my allergies were acting up or I had a cold I wouldn't able to eat for days. The week I started my period I couldn't eat. If I was stressed out I couldn't eat.... I would live off warm fluids and that is all...I developed horrendous reflux eventually getting so bad I would wake up at night with stomach acid coming out my nose. I also had near constant chest and shoulder pain (which was gone the second I woke up post-op after my band removal!). My surgeon is now doing very few bands due to the complications. I won't say don't get a band but I will say proceed with caution and be sure to educate yourself fully on it!!!! Good luck with your decision!!!! Let me say mirena was awesome for my periods. However,it destroyed my orgasms!!! They were a piece of cake to have but the intensity was completely gone. My GYN thought I was nuts but had it take out 8 months later and the big O was back to normal! Just an FYI HW 312, pre-op (lap-band) 294, pre-op (RNY) 255, surgery date 2/11/13, goal weight 154, current weight 234.8
