What Was Your Ah-Ha (Or Oh Crap) Moment?
SoccerMomma73 replied to SoccerMomma73's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
oh, ouch, I can see how that would get your attention:( -
I would write a long and heartfelt letter telling him why you are so worried and letting him know you are there for him if he ever wants to talk about any of it. Don't nag or push the surgery, just tell him you're there for him and ask that he be supportive of you as well. And then I'd drop it. He's a grown man responsible for himself and until he is ready to change, no amount of pushing will help (and would likely have the opposite effect). It's a horrible thing to watch happening to someone you love (I have major guilt over the worry I put my parents through the last few years). Just be there and be his sister.

I had a lot of nausea weeks 2-6 (still get it sometimes at 9 months out). I lived off zofran for a while. I also eventually figured out that nausea was my signal I was hungry. Let your doc know. There are things he can give you. You need those fluids!!!

Totally unrelated to anything, but every time this has popped up on my Facebook feed I think of you....I will forever picture you as a dachshund in my mind now. (Butters is no longer lost FYI)

I miss John and Chris Farley...amazing talents, sad waste. But yay for us all for being proactive! -

What To Expect When They Wake Me Up In Recovery!
SoccerMomma73 replied to MinnesotaDreaming23's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It varies a lot from person to person...I had an EXTREMELY dry mouth and was a little woozy (slept off and on the first few hours then once anesthesia wire off that was gone). The first night I had almost no pain at all, anywhere (yay for good drugs!!!). I don't remember being cold but I was bundled up. Really, wasn't a bad surgery at all for me, hope yours is just as easy! -
My mom is 32 years post gastric bypass (the old stomach stapling) and still dumps off carbs....oatmeal or ride for breakfast will get her (and me) every time....so, for some, yes dumpling is forever.

. It was just plain old regular pumpkin pie....typically if I just have a little of something (even sweet) I'm okay, apparently even a little pumpkin pie goes over my carb load. C'est la vie. Will settle for a bite or two next time!

Dinner was great, no problems....last night had a small piece of pumpkin pie, dumped my butt off....today had half a small piece...dumped my butt off...dammit. I love pumpkin pie . I'm gonna miss it!!!!

For The 1St Time Since Surgery
SoccerMomma73 replied to vicki s's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Likely a mild case, yes. Mine starts with the racing/pounding heart and nausea, if it's a bad one i'll break out in a sweat and get weak and shaky too. -
Hope you and yours are all enjoying a wonderful day full of food, family, and friendship. I'd like to thank you all for you friendship and support this last year. From the just about to have surgery high, to the post-op hormonal crazy low, to the endless thrills and stalls...it's been a heck of a year and y'all have helped pull (at times push) me through.

Alex to the rescue, it's back to normal. Thank you and have a great thanksgiving!

At some point today the app decided to make me all lap-band, all the time, I'm seeing nothing but lap-band threads unless I specifically go to the RNY boards and search them individually (which isn't an easy feat). I went to the web site where I'm still listed as RNY and getting RNY posts except according to the web site there's no new content on the RNY boards so again I have to go in to each topic individually....so basically I'm staring at lap-band threads. So....how do I get the app (iPad/iPhone both) to make me an RNY again. Nothing against life with a lap band but I did my time there just not pertinent to me any more!
-
Checked that first to see if it had reverted back to band again but it had not, I'm still RNY and the web site links me to all RNY stuff..::it's just the app and just started yesterday.
