    Need some advice

Family is family...you'll never ave another....that said, just be ause they're family doesn't mean they're great people. Small grievances with family must be forgiven and forgotten however if their relationship with you is truly toxic and continues to have a negative impact on you and you've tried to talk it out (bluntly, some people require bluntness) I'd just stay away, when they ask why, tell em....if they stil can't change and support you well then their loss! Water Woes

My instructions were to drink at least 4 ounces an hour...no max. I couldn't do it if I could only do 4 ounces an hour!!!! Different docs....they'll make you crazy!!!!!!

    Watermelon?

Not everyone dumps but if you do it's based on how many carbs you eat...4 oz of cantaloupe has about 8 carbs, 4 ounces of brown rice has 22 carbs...if you were a dumper (I am!) it takes a decent serving to get a lot of carbs in ya. I've eaten a cup of cantaloupe with no problem, wouldn't eat more than that because above about 15-20 carbs is where I start to have problems.

    What ya eating tonight?

It's awesome!!!! I was so bored without fruits or veggies, just the little crunch has made it all better . Plus I really don't think we are designed to live on Protein alone....there's so much good stuff fruits and veggies give us . I feel normal!!! What ya eating tonight?

I was released to eat salads this weeks. Every day for lunch I'm having baby spinach with 2 ounces of diced up turkey, 1 ounce of cheese, and a sprinkle of sunflower seeds, and light balsamic dressing....it is HEAVEN!!!!!! (PLUS!!!! Added spinach AND I started pooping again, TMI I know but it's so awesome ) I'm a happy girl!!!! Watermelon?

Watermelon, strawberries, and cantaloupe are so far my go to fruits....no problem with em at all. Haven't gotten brave in the fruit department yet! HW 312, pre-op (lap-band) 294, pre-op (RNY) 255, surgery date 2/11/13, goal weight 154, current weight 225

    Vitamin D increase post surgery?

Ah ha!!! A question I can answer!!! Vitamin D is fat soluble. Almost ALL my obese patients have low D because it sort of gets absorbed into the fat where it can't be used for bones or be measured in blood work. Less fat to absorb D = higher Vitamin D....ALSO some of the newer studies show higher D levels actually help burn fat, go figure. Whatever, it's a win win for you!!!! Water/fluids

I've always been a BIG drinker (HA!) and truly it's not been that big of a deal post-op. I, luckily, can take regular swallows but only 3-4 at a time instead of 1/2 a glass. I pretty much have a drink going all day long and typically have 8-10 glasses a day. I think because I'm doing it constantly I don't get 'thirsty' like I would have expected not drinking 200 oz a day . It all works out!! Showers and work

I'm a family practice physician assistant....I basically walk from room to room and stand and talk. I went back part time at a week and a half, and full time at 2 weeks. I had about a week where I was pretty darn tired and if I went too long without 'eating' would start to get weak and shaky....I kept Syntrax nectar made with 1/2 juice 1/2 Water and sipped it all day and that kept the weakness at bay....I honestly was starting to get bored at home and was ready to go back. The more I moved the better I felt the more I was out,the more normal I felt. Of course, I also went camping with cub scouts 2 1/2 weeks post-op in freezing weather....now that I thought was going to kill me HW 312, pre-op (lap-band) 294, pre-op (RNY) 255, surgery date 2/11/13, goal weight 154, current weight 225
