    What to take and have on hand...

    My short list of hospital necessities: Chapstick Lotion (hospital lotion is watery and I was DRY) Tooth brush and paste Socks with grips on the bottom for walking Clean undies I wore yoga pants and a baggy t-shirt to the hospital that I could wear home as well Phone and charger My own pillow!!!! (Heaven in the hospital then hugged it in the ride home. Make sure it's washable though, gotta clean off hospital cooties) Gas-x strips (my docs nurse told me to smuggle em in) Heating pad!!!!! Hairbrush/clips, etc Deodorant I did not bring a gown or robes wore the hospital gown plus another over it backwards when I was up and about. Less really is better,I always bring a book and never read it (pain meds make me drowsy and dizzy) I did use my iPad but coulda lived without it. HW 312, pre-op (lap-band) 294, pre-op (RNY) 255, surgery date 2/11/13, goal weight 154, current weight 221.6

    What I got from Bobbie (babysteps) can't wait to try the Protein bats!!!! (Pardon the dog nose) The itty bitty spoons and forks are hysterical, think I'll take em to work since lunch seems to be hardest for me (more junk around). Love it all, thank you so much!!!!

    Dumping Syndrome Question

    Yup, weak, shaky, heart racing, queasy, headache, sweaty, feel almost like you could pass out....I haven't had pain with any of my episodes, that sounds more like eating too much too fast or just too big a bite of setting that got stuck for a bit. My bad bad dump was on 4 ounces of very loose cream of heat eaten over about 20-25 minutes.....it wasn't that I the too much it was that I am sensitive to carbs an had no protein to help level it out. Fun times!!!!

    What Foods Do You Dump With?

    Cream of wheat if I have it alone, it's fine if I have 1/2 a Protein Shake with it. I haven't been super adventurous yet with food but anything on the greasy side makes me queasy but the cream of wheat was the only full blow 'omg I'm gonna die' dump.     Well im THAT girl...

    I'm that girl too....better safe than sorry. I'm a family practice PA and during the six months between band removal and bypass I did a lot of research. It appears more and more docs are going to waiting between the band removal and bypass....complication rates seem to be lower. I you need a shoulder to cry on, I'm your girl. I felt so betrayed by my body at first....I was sad and cried then I got madder than hell. Keep on doing what you're doing. Your time will come. Honestly the first month or two took for ever but after that it flew. The one thing that really helped was that they gave me a surgery date at my 2 week post op follow up....I started counting days 6 months before I had my RNY....having the date, having an end in sight, really helped me!!!! You can do this :$

    You gotta drink your shakes though dear, gotta get your protein!!! You'll be fine, follow your docs rules and go slow
