    Syntrax Nectar

Just a Protein drink....not milky like most. If you pour it over tons of ice it's not horrible. They sell sample packs, just google it! Fuzzy navel is my favorite ( don't love it, tolerate it -) I also prefer the Syntrax sweets if I'm going to do a shake. Moms giving me cold feet

I'm a failed lap ban who had emergency removal and now has RNY....you have to be confident in your decision....if you need more time then take it! My band and I were never friends. I was a good lap band patient. I lost weight, but I was constantly sick, miserable. Had unexplained chest and shoulder pain the entire time I had the band which was miraculously cured the second I woke up post op from band removal...my recovery from both was very similar, I took a couple extra days after RNY but I'm older and had the time available, pain wise it was not biggie. People tend to be very polarized when it comes to bariatric surgery, if they've had xxx they will defend it to the death. Their uncle joe had zzz and such and such happened and no you should never do that surgery ever... Mom means the best and wants what safest...or what she believes is safest. My surgeon is barely doing bands now because of the complication and failure rate. The band is often consider safer because it's removable. What no one mentioned was that in rare cases the band can do so much damage that even after removal other surgeries aren't possible (I know 2 of these unfortunate folks). I had so much inflammation and scarring at the time of my removal that I couldn't be revised to RNY and was sent home to heal for 6 months before my surgeon felt it was safe to do my RNY. I'm almost 3 months post op from my RNY I feel better than I ever did with my band. I have no pain, I don't get 'stuck' I can eat almost anything just in small amounts..... Do your research, talk to your doc, sorry to go on and on but people extolling the safety virtues of band freak me out a bit

maybe too high risk for surgery

I would look for a second opinion with someone who specialuzes in revisions....I too am a failed band to bypass. Band slipped, stomach herniated, I was a mess. At the time of band removal I had so much inflammation and scarring that they had to postpone my RNY for 6 months....the RNY surgery and recovery ended up being a piece of cake for the most part....I've even been labeled an easy patient by the surgeon because I've just had no problems. FYI I had gallbladder removal 6-7 years ago, band put in 3years ago, then band removal, my surgery was several hours longer than a usual RNY because if the scar tissue and cleanup but all is well. And had a hiatal hernia repair with my RNY... My surgeon is probably the best in the state for complicated cases and revisions though....he drives me insane with his surgeon personality but his skill cannot be questioned. Any surgeon should be able to tell you how many revisions they've handled and their rate for complications. Good luck!!!!
