Food and Nutrition reorg?
SoccerMomma73 replied to mistysj's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
I'm in too...I think the similarities far outweigh the differences between the procedures....of course, it'll piss off some that want everything segregated but I think the value of combining outweighs the negative. -
totally unrelated to anything weight loss related (except that flying is the freaking bomb now that I don't feel like a stuffed sausage when I'm on a plane) but I'm looking for suggestions on vacation spots for my 9 year old son and I. We did the keys last summer (was the bomb!!) and I'm starting to plot for next summer. They can be historic/learning based or just for fun! Just not ridiculously expensive! Thanks in advance for your brilliance!!!

Confessions Of A Chocoholic
SoccerMomma73 replied to patticake1448's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Potato chips and Funyuns are banned from my house. I cannot stop at a portion or two or three. Even with my dumping issues I will continue to eat them and make myself physically ill. On the flip side, I sat inches from a bag of rolos and a bag of Hershey's kisses for 9 hours at work yesterday an ate 2 rolo's all day. We have to discovered and redevelop our relationships with food. What I cannot control (no one can eat just one!!!) I must avoid, what I can control and maintain a healthy relationship with is fair game. I have a similar philosophy in relationships with people, only the healthy relationships are allowed to be part of my life We're all on a similar journey, but where we came from and the detours and obstacles we meet can be very different. Merry Christmas and happy holidays my friends! -
Confessions Of A Chocoholic
SoccerMomma73 replied to patticake1448's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have this surgery so I had to deprive myself, I had it so I could eat normally, like everyone else. So, as long as it isn't a trigger to binge and eat a bag full, there's nothing wrong with a Hershey's kiss or two. If you're sticking with your program, eating well, exercising, it all falls in to place (in my program nothing is forbidden, just eaten in moderation). If you find you are eating more and more of the forbidden fruit, your weight loss is stalling, you're allowing your old eating habits to take control, you may find that you need to kick these foods out completely. But as long as you're controlling them and they aren't controlling you, I don't see a problem. That said, I do recommend following your doc and program....if you're not supposed to eat cuz until xxx then be very careful and do what is recommended. You're doing well, keep it up! -
Life without band is delightful congrats!

What Were Your Favorite Post Op Foods?
SoccerMomma73 replied to KristinaRnY's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
The baked ricotta was my favorite purée food....love it! -
I still have 40 lbs to lose and I'm a shar pei....I was 39 when I had my RNY. I'm 5'6 and topped out years ago at 312 (BMI 54...I was a very big girl). And I've been overweight my entire life and obese my entire adult life....I'm also very thin skinned and don't seem to have a lot of elasticity (thanks mom!!!!). I think there's absolutely NO chance in hades that this skin will spring back. You've got age on your side! Keep yourself and your skin hydrated and cross your fingers

Need Help From The Other Side
SoccerMomma73 replied to tirsh29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bless your heart . They likely won't let you wear a tampon for surgery and will give you a special pad to lay on...if you're REALLY lucky they'll give you the sexy mesh panties and diaper sized pad to wear post op. It's like having a bible in your panties it's so freaking big. I highly recommend taking your own feminine hygiene products -

30-Day Plank Challenge: Who Is In For This One?
SoccerMomma73 replied to gamergirl's topic in Fitness & Exercise
The only place we have carpet is my son's bedroom so that's become the official plank spot. Tonight 1 of our 2 dogs joined and was attempting to clean out the boy child's ears while he was planking....I cannot laugh and plank. Period. -
I was at a play last night and completely and totally comfortable. I didn't feel like I was spilling over on my neighbor, I wasn't worried about my fat touching someone. I had room to wiggle and cross and uncross my legs... It's the little things that make post-op life so awesome.

The Slow Losers Thread
SoccerMomma73 replied to Mid West's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
so let's be realistic here, could you have kept up, for the rest of your life, the diet you were on the week before surgery (I certainly could not have spent any longer living on clear liquids and protein shakes). Also keep in mind that when you first start a strict diet you lose a bunch of water weight, it's still weight, but it comes off much differently and won't continue to come off like that. Seventeen pounds in 3 weeks is amazing. It's over 5 pounds a week! What exactly were you expecting? You've got a LONG road ahead of you, plus a lifetime of bad eating habits to overcome. I encourage you to set some realistic goals for yourself and not expect miracles and to embrace your success!!!! You are doing great. When's the last time you lost this much weight without starving yourself??? Enjoy the journey, stop focusing so much on the goal and enjoy the trip, it's a wild one!!!! -
Scared! Here's My Story...
SoccerMomma73 replied to nervous&happy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Agree with the above..fear is nature and there's help for it. Passing blood in that amount is not normal and is not part of dumping. Something is very wrong physically and you need help now. Please go to the ER and update us when you can. -

From taste of home. I use 1lb turkey instead of 2 lbs beef, a glob is sour cream and sprinkle with shredded cheese. Warm and extremely filling.
