    Did you cheat?

Yup! The first week I allowed myself 1 or 2 boiled egg whites (pure Protein, minimal carbs) and raw veggies (celery and cucumber) (again, little to no carbs). I tried to cheat in a way that wouldn't Hinder my weight loss pre-op and the second week I was by the book. The first 4-5 days were the absolute worst, after that I felt more in control and slightly less miserable. Do your best to do your best! And try not to worry to much, you'll get through it. If you do have a bad day, pull yourself up, dust yourself off and start fresh the next day! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 210

    going out of town

I would look for places that have Soups, here in central Arkansas Jason's Deli and Panera bread come to mind. A lot of more upscale restraints will have a Soup or two on the appetizer list, these days most places have web sites you can browse before you go in. Take it slow and don't push it! Good luck!!!! Last word of advice, don't slack on the water!!! I tend to not drink as ugh when I'm traveling and 2 weeks out ou need to really be careful not together dehydrated HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 210

how fast is the weight loss?

Oh my dear, it's so variable! I'm 4 months post and down 45, I seem to be losing slow compared to most on here but I have no problems with any food and I feel great so I'll take it! I'm 5'6, started at 255, shooting for 150, currently 210. I am a revision from a lap band and was warned revisions tend to lose slower... I highly recommend not comparing our journey to others though,it'll drive you crazy!!!!! Good luck!!!!! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 210

    I miss food!

Somebody on here suggested melting laughing cow cheese in the eggs....works well and keeps them moist, plus there are a lot of different flavors! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 210

    Questions on hospital stay

I'm amazed they let him require a private room! But whatever, I'll take it!!! After my band and band removal I was in the step down unit (picu I think) with the sliding glass doors where they watch you 24/7....did not like that at all!!! Felt like a goldfish in a fish bowl ring stared at all day/night...much more comfortable in a regular room this last time. HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 212

    Questions on hospital stay

The 'meal tray' was an experience. It had a 1/2 cup of juice, a bowl of broth, and SF Jello. I was to take 2 one ounce cups and pick 2 ounces of what I wanted for that meal and 'eat' em....the rest went back to the kitchen. This was fine until they stopped my IV Wednesday morning and I ended up staying until Thursday night....by then I was drinking Water fine, peeing like a champ, but 2 ounces of apple juice, 3 times a day as my only source of calories did NOT work. (15 calories an ounce for a total of 90 calories a day) by the end of Wednesday afternoon I was light headed with a terrible headache and woozie and thought I was going to pass out when I was walking. I mentioned it to the RN and she said that was all i was allowed to have, so she gave me a sugar free Popsicle...which helped none. Mom smuggled me in apple juice and 2 ounces later headache magically gone and no longer felt like I was going to die....at least for a few hours. Told the doc the next morning at rounds and he was PISSED, I was supposed to be sipping juice all day since I was still Clear liquids and everything else had zero nutrients....but he never clarified it with the nurse so when I mentioned it later thursday morning she checked orders and said there was no order so no...they eventually called the surgeon, who was in Surgery all day and unreachable. We thought I'd be leaving that morning so really didn't push it, until the day progressed and I started feeling crappy again so mom smuggled in another bottle of apple juice....he did clarified the order at 6:00 pm, I finally got to leave at 7:00 pm. I guess the issue was that I had to stay an extra day and a half, they usually pull the IV right before you leave (it has dextrose which is sugar so you've got a slow steady drip going 24/7) but I was up and moving around and drinking fine so the took it out on schedule but then I couldn't pass gas so I to the extended stay and someone want familiar with the extended stay policy? All that said, I had no other complaints and had the utmost respect or the entire nursing staff, I'll never know how the do what the do!!! Also, I not a crazy rebel and I typically follow Dr. orders to a T. But I knew what my post-op diet was supposed to be, I had the packet with me and I was supposed to be sipping diluted fruit juice all day, so I did, eventually. Also I'm for sure not saying eat/drink whatever you want and be merry, I'm Saying sometimes things are missed or done incorrectly. (I'm sure someone's gonna yell at me for this now!) I think you're going to be amazed at how well it all goes, just sip and walk and remember drugs are your friends!!! I took almost nothing once I left the hospital but the first 48 hours that morphine pump and I were BFFs! The pain was ever ridiculously horrible but the meds made getting up and down and around almost painless. HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 212
  13. I'll leave the food and exercise suggestions to others but wanted to say you have some brain work to do my friend! You're losing almost a pound a day....on no planet does that qualify as slow losing. Your weight loss is amazing an you need to learn to look at it as 'I've lost 35 pounds!!!!' Appreciated it, Celebrate it, claim it and be proud. This 'I've only lost xxxx pounds' is way too negative. This is a marathon, not a sprint, don't expect miracles (although the surgery itself has been a miracle for many of us) set realistic goals and celebrate when you achieve them. I swear sometimes I think 2/3 of tr weight loss game is mental. Good luck, you'll get there, but why not enjoy the ride while you're in it?

    Questions on hospital stay

Never hurts! No one truly knows what it's like unless you've been through it....even the surgeon and staff.....they think they know, but they don't know like we do! Keep on reading and asking questions, I'm excited for ya!!!!!

    Questions on hospital stay

They told me I was a low maintenance patient because I didn't have any problems or need anything so they pretty much left me alone except to do vitals every few hours or bring me meds/meals/etc....pretty sure they forgot I was there at times leg compression garments are not painful at all, feel a little weird and do get warm if you're all bundled up so I kept my socks on and my legs uncovered when I had them on. I'm am extremely light sleeper and the leg garments didn't wake me up. My hospital has wifi....basically I walked and dozed. I'm not a TV watcher so I played on my iPad and texted the entire universe out of boredom. My doc requires a 2 night stay of his RNY patients AND I wasn't passing gas or anything else so they made me stay a third night (I TOLD him to let me go home and i would pass gas the next day but nooooooo had to stay...and passed gas the next day just like I told him!). It really was uneventful and boring! (You're allowed to have 1 person stay overnight if you want...I'm single and by the end of the day needed a break from mom's mothering so happily sent her home at night!) Good luck, you'll do great!!!
