    food

I started it just days post op in my shakes, love it! I don't make it a daily food due to calories and fat but I have it once or twice a week.

    Gas TMI

This reminded me of an old SNL skit 'toot tones' http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=ZdCkbOwbVps&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DZdCkbOwbVps. We just need to change it to smells!

    Soda yes? No?

I drink a diet sprite occasionally. They don't bother me unless I take a big slurp! But, I tend to have a bottle or glass around and drink it for hours so its usually just slow sips. Never been a huge soda drinker anyway. HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 210

    Birth Control Problems!

The upper weight limit for the patch is around 185-190 lbs, above that and they cannot guarantee the patch will work! Said it before, but LOVE my nuvaring, wish I'd done it years ago!!! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 210

    Vacation

I leave Friday morning for a week in the Florida Keys...I am not stressed about sitting next to a stranger on the plane and worrying about my flab busting over the seat and touching them. I have a new size 14 bathing suit that looks adorable on me and makes my waist look tiny and my boobs look great. I'm going parasailing with my 9 year old and am not freaked out about looking like a flying whale....I'm not worried I'll get too hot or have to take a break from walking. I am just happy and excited and feel like a kid at Christmas I'm almost 1/2 way to goal, about 60 pounds to go and I feel like, for the first time ever, I'm living my life and not just watching it go by because I'm fat and insecure. Life...is....good... HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 213.2

    PreOp Class

Do you think they'd be amused if you brought a Big Gulp and bag of frito's to snack on during the 8 hours????? Maybe order in pizza? (I know this is serious stuff but I'd LOVE to see their faces!!!) But seriously, 8 hours is LONG!!!! Good luck sitting through it! I read another post with someone saying they'd been scheduled for their pre-op boot camp...wow!

    June surgeries!

Take a deep breath and step away from the scale!!!! 33 pounds is huge, I'm sure your body is freaking out thinking you're starving it to death and is trying to hang on to every ounce. It will start again eventually, but it old be days or weeks. Stick with the diet and exercise program you've been given and you'll be fine. And get used to this, happens to almost everyone post op. at 1 month post-op I hit a wall. Eating 800 calories a day, walking 45 minutes 4-5 days a week and lost 2 pounds in a month...I was fit to be tied! I really really really recommend only weighing once a week or every other week though...those scales will make you crazy!!!! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 210

    6-17-13 Exploring options

The band is great or some but there's a large faction of us for whom t was total hell! I learned to live off liquids because my band was always acting up and making me miserable.glad you're doing your research and good luc!!!! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 210

    Barrett's Esophagus

Trust your surgeon . The band and VSG are both notorious for GERD, with Barrett's, you want to protect your esophagus as much as possible so my semi-educated guess (I'm a physician assistant) is to agree with you that that your surgeon will recommend RNY in this case. On a personal note, take care of yourself. Please get your follow up EGDs when you are scheduled to and definitely don't ever smoke!!! Best of luck on your journey and please keep us updated!!! Smoking Questions

Off topic, but having followed you for a while now, your husband sounds like a jerk....sorry, been wanting to say it for a while. He really needs to figure out how to support someone instead of beat them down. HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 210

    What ya eating tonight?

Small carb smart tortilla warmed with 2 ounces FF refried beans, 2 ounces low fat ground beef, 1oz shredded cheese, 1 T low fat sour cream, and globs of salsa....had the same thing last night. My kiddo is still out of town so I'm just piecing together easy stuff that doesn't really require cooking (the ground beef is cooked in the fridge, just nuke it!). Works for when I want real food but don't want to cook, I do the same with pre-cooked grilled chicken from the deli section too. HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 210

    Anyone 5'10-6' tall?

At 5'10.5 you'd be at a healthy BMI from about 142-175....seriously 142 at your height sounds TINY!!!!!!

    16 days until surgery!

I just got back from vacation (I'm 4 months post). Had to ponder menus a few times and got my but whooped by a half a scoop of ice cream (knew it was gonna happen but we'd just finished parasailing and were so hot and it looked soooo good, and I was so hungry! Oops!). You should feel fine to do whatever you want by 3 months, try not to stress

    16 days until surgery!

Eventually but it is all consuming leading up to the big day!!! Then post op you get crazy hormones and may be crazy psycho again....thought I'd lost my mind the first 6 weeks post op...cried about everything, was depressed (I am so not a depressed person) worried and obsessed about every freaking thing. I was not a little ray of sunshine :/. Now it's just second nature. Where ever I go I'll find something okay to eat, I don't have to plot out every meal and every second of my life (I still plan meals ahead of time....that works best for me to not eat crap and get in Protein but if my co-workers decide to go out to lunch I know now I can gland ill be okay. ). Once it all starts to click it is pretty awesome! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 210

    Did you cheat?

Post-op is SO much easier....there's no comparison. Not hard to not eat when you don't feel like youre starving to death! It does get boring but still was nothing compared to pre-op hell, at łeast for me HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 210
  21. After a failed band I wasn't getting ANYTHING other than RNY....doc wanted to talk to me about sleeve just so I'd know all my choices but success rates are better with RNY...I've failed once, I wanted nothing but the best this time. HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 210
