What to wear home from surgery?
SoccerMomma73 replied to punkin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Every time Dr. B gets me (this was my third surgery be him :/) he uses 1 tiny incision way up high on the left, I believe its where the camera goes....it's always the smallest yet most annoying of my incisions.....but yes, the boob rubbing it was MISERABLE...but luckily I earned that lesson after the first surgery! What to wear home from surgery?
SoccerMomma73 replied to punkin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't wear a bra when I had my band an my saggy boob rubbed the upper incision the whole way home, was irritating as heck so this time (I feel like a surgery pro) I brought a soft one that just sorta holds em up a bit, worked well. -
Protein pancakes!
SoccerMomma73 replied to futuremrsparker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on the hunt for a protein muffin recipe. I've done the egg/ricotta muffins and love em but really want like a good old fashioned blueberry or cinnamon apple muffin for breakfast. I've googled recipes but they all seem iffy! -

T-shirt and yoga pants, what I wore to the hospital, also wore home. I had no problem putting the shirt on. If you wear a bra make sure it's soft and a bit loose. HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 210 -
work related issues and restrictions
SoccerMomma73 replied to Amanda R's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The problem here is that they aren't required to grant you light duty...they might be nice and do it, but, as you said above they may just say that as long as you are unable to perform all aspects if your job you have to stay off work. The flip side, if you go back not telling them you're not supposed to be lifting and hurt yourself A-you've hurt yourself and some of the things that can happen could be serious, B-you'd likely be in trouble at work for not disclosing that you were supposed to have restrictions. My employer requires a release from your physician after any procedure/surgery stating that you can perform the functions of your job safely...no release, no return to work. Good luck, but keep yourself safe!!!! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 210 -
Rephresh is what I tell my patients with recurrent BV to use...seems to do fairly well. HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 210

How to get out of bed
SoccerMomma73 replied to MGteacher's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would roll Over on my side, push my torso up with my arms while swinging my legs down off the edge of the bed. That was my technique from day 2. By about day 8-9 it was no longer an issue. Good luck!!!! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 210 -

Oh man, I think I made a mistake!
SoccerMomma73 replied to PittGuy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've had multiple catheters and really, it's annoying to try to move, roll, whatever, but otherwise just not that big of a deal (I've also put em in other people, again, no biggie). A little sting coming out but not terrible. Pulling the JP drain was like razor wire, pulling the cath, meh, no biggie. I DO like that they now put em in after you've passed out...more from an embarrassment standpoint then anything. HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 210 -

different goals?
SoccerMomma73 replied to deaddemmama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't maintained at under 230 in my entire adult life so being 208 and steadily losing at age 40 I already consider this a success. I haven't seen anything under 200 even for a day since I was about 16....I absolutely cannot picture me at 150 because oven never seen me anywhere close. If I'm a14 now, holy cow, what will I be then???? I pretty much consider every pound off an absolute miracle at this point! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 210 -
different goals?
SoccerMomma73 replied to deaddemmama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeons goal is for me to be healthy....that's all he'd give me. And heck, it's probably the perfect goal. My personal goal at 5'6 is 150. This puts me at a BMI of 24 which is just inside the cut off for a healthy weight. HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 210 -
If we could change our lifestyle we wouldn't be fat!
SoccerMomma73 replied to Kcarr1120's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
It's so much easier to change your lifestyle when you aren't starving to death all the time and when you physically can't eat a quarter pounder with cheese, Large fries, and a milkshake....and if you did manage to eat a decent sized chunk you'd be sick as a dog....for me, eating healthier is a million times easier because it's what makes me feel good. I'm not perfect! I had 1/4 of a cupcake yesterday.....but 1/4 of a 400 calorie cupcake is much better then the whole thing and I was totally satisfied with what I had, no feeling of deprivation and wanting more like I would have had pre-op. Now...exercise is a whole different story, I have to pretty much force myself to do it, but in, once you get into a habit, you feel so much better...plus the ever decreasing number on the scale really pushes me to keep rolling with it. It's all about habits and this surgery makes I so much easier! It's pretty much magic in my book! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 210 -
Should I take my scales?

Girl cut the cord!!!! -
You could call them and ask but very likely they will cover it. You have gallbladder disease and its not 'elective' like RNY often is considered. HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 210

Lose, Lose, Lose Gain?
SoccerMomma73 replied to Toby Michael's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So there's 3500 calories in a pound....have you eaten 17000+ calories in the last couple days??? If not then its not fat. Could be retaining Fluid from the heat or too much salt or various other physical issues, or in need of a good poo, or, if you've exercised a lot you're muscles can sometimes hold fluid when they've had a massive work out....so many variables....the Long and short of it is keep on keeping on and it'll start back up! You are doing awesome!!!! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 210 -

Warm tea or coffee...completely dissolves (though its not BAD in cool liquids either). I have a 9 year old that tends to be constipated, we make hot tea and mix in the miralax and share a cup of 'poop tea'....but we're weird! . Hope it works!!! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 210

Honestly? I think a heartfelt letter of thanks would mean mor than anything to them. Maybe with something your daughter made for them to go with it? HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 210
