What to bring to the hospital?
SoccerMomma73 replied to punkin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Really truly not much!!! My own pillow (heaven at the hospital and nice to hug on the drive home), Chapstick (woulda died without it!!!) phone and charger (I also I took my iPad), clean panties, tooth brush/paste, hair brush/clip/band. I worse sweat pants and a baggy thirst to the hospital and wore the same thing home. Until all the tubes and IV were gone I wore a hospital gown, when I got up and out i put another gown on over it to cover my posterior. Didn't want blood or stuff on my night gowns! I did have 1 pair of soft Jammie's I bummed around in the last night once all my extra parts were disconnected, would been fine without em! I don't like slippers so I wore the socks with grippers on the bottom (brought a pair but had to stay longer than elected so used the hospitals) took a book, never opened it. pre-operative liquid diet
SoccerMomma73 replied to lashacarpenter's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hang in there, it does get better. For me, the first 4-5 days is the worst. Typically days 2-3 are my own personal hell. The hunger (physical and emotional) are insane. BUT, for me, the worst is the headache and ridiculous fatigue. (Well, and I always get diarrhea the first few days on Protein shakes). The headache and hunger fade over a few days. I swear after 4-5 days my body realizes I'm not giving up and the hunger starts to fade. Unfortunately the fatigue has always stayed until I'm allowed to eat more. My best advice is hide from the world, sleep when you can, drink Water or crystal light all day long and try to keep busy. Week 2 has always been a fair amount better for me. It is SO worth it in the end....even the post-op liquid diet is a breeze compared to pre-op. keep your chin up and your eye on the prize!!!!! YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!! So my nut would disagree here....I would decrease my protein and exercise for 2 weeks (not stop exercising and not eating crap) then starting hitting it hard again. Doing a little shake up in routine seems to be my best options when things freeze for more than a couple weeks. That is personal advice, not professional, 'always ask your surgeon first'

Worried about work retreat 2 weeks Post Op. Advice?

And yes, I almost froze to death and was miserable, but had no tummy issues. Just fatigued and colder than I thought was humanly possible. -
Worried about work retreat 2 weeks Post Op. Advice?
SoccerMomma73 replied to McLynz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I camped in a tent in 25 degree weather sleeping on the ground 2 weeks post-op (for cub scouts)....it can be done. As long as it doesn't involve anything super strenuous and you prep for how you're going to eat and drink it truly can be done. -
I officially no longer like dill pickles...fine with sweet or bread and butter but just don't like dill any more. How odd. HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 207.4

You look awesome!!!! I do dump if I do an overdose of simple carbs or something greasy but otherwise can eat anything!!! Steak, chicken, bread, Pasta, nothing ever gets stuck...I've not met a food that my pouch doesn't like. I consider myself extremely lucky!!! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 207.4 -
I day have a Hershey's kiss and kill the craving. If I really want something I obsess and am better off taking a bite or two and getting over it. If I don't I start feeling deprived and end up over doing it when I finally cave. HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 207.4

The whole taste bud thing is WEIRD!!!!! I've loved good dill pickles for 40 years...no more! What a freak quirk . Even if you don't like em, you can make them for her! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 207.4

Well yeah, there is that too . I tend to not pay much attention to that, rarely hit the upper end and no blood pressure or swelling issues. HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 207.4

I'm so craving muffins for Breakfast. I've made the ricotta/egg muffins and loved em but they were more custardy then muffin. Any recipe suggestions for high Protein, low carb muffins? Blueberry or apple spice are really calling my name! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 210

Fabulous February Post-Op's
SoccerMomma73 replied to ArmyWife&Mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Cleaning house today and wearing a grungy old t-shirt, stopped at the bathroom mirror to admire how huge it was on me and it was ridiculously enormous. Got to thinking, at my highest I was 312 lbs (about 6 1/2 years ago), now I'm 208. Holy cow, that's 104 lbs...I have an 102 lb 9 year old. I've lost all of him plus 2. That's insane. So I grabbed him and had him crawl up my shirt and he fit, with room to spare....just wow. Totally wow. HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 210 -
