  1. 33 lbs in 3 weeks is huge but yes, it will slow down. You have to have Water and Protein for your metabolism to keep going. It's up to your surgeon when you can start working out and how intense he wants you exercising. Also, you can't dump off smells....they may make you sick or upset your stomach but it's not dumping. Dumping in caused by either carbohydrate or fat intake but you have to actually consume them..... Good luck!!!!

    Surgery tomorrow!

You're in my thoughts and prayers. The night before my lap band, I tucked in my son, waited til he fell asleep and. Laid in his bed and bawled 1/2 the night. THEN got up and wrote him a letter just in case I bought the big one the next day....I was still crazy, but a little less so, the night before my RNY. Just know the crazy emotions are normal and we are here for ya! Can't wait to hear from you after . Best of luck! We are rooting for ya!!!! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 206.8

    When will I feel full?

Nope! Your stomach had major surgery and was sliced and diced, nerves were cut, etc! It was at least 6 weeks before I had any sensation I fullness. For some people it takes months. Be very careful at this point to measure your foods and follow your doctors orders, it's way too easy to eat too much and you don't want to put strain on you healing tummy.

    Loose Skin

Once skin is stretched beyond its breaking point you are up a creek. Exercise will tone the underlying muscle but no exercise in the world can fix the hanging skin. You either learn to life with it or pay to have it removed. Also, while moisturizing is great for your skin, don't waste your money on lotions that say they'll tone you skin, they won't. Your skin is like a rubber band, it stretches and stretches, and stretches but eventually those stretchy fibers snap, once the rubber band is snapped there's no putting it back together.
  12. Self confidence and pride.... I do feel so much better too though! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 206.8

    Ok desserts never again

IF you dump (most people don't) you have to have a certain carb load to cause it. My first dump, the one I thought was going to kill me, was about 3 weeks post op. I dumped on a small bowl of cream of wheat, a completely approved foot at that stage. Since then, I've discovered I can eat cream of wheat, but I have to have protein with it to help level the glucose drop so my answer is if I'm going to have cream of wheat, I drank 1/2 a protein shake while I'm cooking it and I do fine. With sweets I can take 2-3 bites of pretty much anything and I'm fine, I typically do it when I have something else in my system as well so it's not straight carbs. Funny enough, 2-3 bites is pretty much all I want of a dessert now, it satisfies the craving and doesn't make me feel like death. Win win situation!!! For me personally it appears I can pretty much handle anything in moderation HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 206.8

    Surgery Dates for July

If it gives you hope, every time I have to do liquids, I start feeling better on day 4 or 5 (by better I mean less completely and totally miserable, headache and hunger fade, energy still sucks)..by week 2 I'm pretty numb and just roll with it! It is SO worth it though!!!! You'll see HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 206.8

    vitamins

Yup and without as much fat the body can't hoard it all like it used to. Curious once I stop losing (hopefully no time soon!!) and stabilize, where the D will go! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 206.8
  18. In a few months you'll be eating normal foods again, just tiny portions of healthier foods. I find that I eat so slow (gives me time to talk more too!!!) that I finish eating my tiny portion about the same time every one else does. Don't fret! Advice? Buckle up and get ready! It's a crazy ride!!!! Also keep a sense of humor. There will be weeks where you do everything perfect and lose nothing and weeks you do everything wrong and lose 4 pounds. There is a huge learning curve, don't expect miracles,be patient with yourself (and those around you cuz at some point you'll want to kill them for saying something stupid), and do NOT obsess about the scale....they are evil and do strange things, the scale will make you crazy. Also, men often lose faster then women, this does not mean your husband is doing better, everyone loses at their own rate. And congratulations on taking control of your health. Enjoy the new you my friend! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 206.8

    June Post Ops!

    vitamins

It does vary a lot...some docs are anti-flintstones but they'll likely give you a list of what they consider good. I take 2 flintstones complete daily (Kroger generic) 2000 units vitamin D once daily, and calcium + D twice a day. I also get a B12 shot once a month but I was doing that and the vitamin D for years before my RNY. Funny enough my vitamin D is the highest it's ever been so I'm actually only taking it 2-3 times a week now. (And its staying up) HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 206.8
