Coughing, Reflux & Regurgitation out of the blue

The night time reflux and cough were my sign that I'd slipped. You my just need an infill but please don't ignore this, your doc needs to evaluate it.

    rebanding after erosion?

My doc won't reband after an erosion either, says the risk of complication is too high....good luck! I've had my RNY 6 months now and its been such smooth sailing compared to my 3 years with a band

    Fabulous February Post-Op's

So, if anyone reads Alex's Big Book On Gastric Bypass, there's a LONG story at the end on Chapter 16 about Christie From Arkansas...that'd be me!!! I cannot tell you, after hiding my weight and weight struggles from the universe my entire life, how bizarre it is to have it all out in print for the universe to see. Feeling somewhat naked right now :/. I thought they'd just take excerpts from my responses but they pretty much published everything I said! I do tend to ramble HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 202.4

    Anyone have a band slip?

I had no pain with my slip. It was ridiculous reflux 24/7 (like out your nose in the middle of the night) and couldn't eat ANYTHING, after a couple days I could only sip hot tea slowly, even Water came back. HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 202.4

    Medicaid Question

The sleeve is a portion of the duodenal switch. The band, shouldn't be, ever, in my personal opinion, a first step or precursor to any bariatric surgery, the failure rate is just ridiculous. The DS is an entirely different procedure and much more involved than the others with a slew of side effects, but pretty good weight loss, typically reserved for very large people and not performed by many surgeons....I'm not saying not to do a DS but you sure need to be educated on it before doing it.

    Fabulous February Post-Op's

I found a photo today of me at my heaviest. About 312 pounds....OH MY GOD....how did that happen?!?!?!? I look in the mirror and see a thinner girl, but definitely still fat...I look at that photo and I'm horrified :/ HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 202.4

    Periods?

So my period has been totally unchanged by surgery...started on schedule 2 weeks post op, pretty normal, bleeding and cramping nothing out of the ordinary....started using the nuvaring about 2 months post-op so now I have almost no period. Woohoo! Just wanted to share that for any pre-op folks that were reading this thread thinking OMG IT HAPPENS TO EVERYONE?!?!? Not everyone, but it does sound like a pretty good chunk of folks have some hormone changes! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 202.4

    Feeling so frustrated!

I stop and pee 20 times on the way to my surgeon and I don't drink for several hours before. I do NOT recommend this!!! I just can't seem to help myself. I so hope to be able to just go and weigh and not get all OCD about this stuff some day!!!!
  21. Call!! Bug em!! Be proactive. The number of people who start this process then never actually do anything to pursue it is astounding so I doubt they follow up with everyone. (And congrats on getting started!!!)

    Medicaid Question

Ultimately it's a very personal decision. WHat's right for me isn't necessarily right for you. If you're not comfortable with what you've been told then I recommend holding off while you get more information and seek a second opinion. I am not your doctor, I don't know your history or know why he said eat he said, but until you are comfortable with it, I would not have surgery. Period. This is a life changing decision. You, and only you, have to live with the consequences ( be they good or be they bad!) you need to be comfortable with that decision going in! Good luck!!!!!! How about some NSVs!?!?

Lol, TMI moment but I like ever poop any more...I'll go 4-5 days then finally give up and take MOM and lose a pound or two....I'm on day 4, hoping it'll kick in ANY time and move the scale down. We're camping this weekend and will be hiking and canoeing all weekend....that really ought to drop me over the edge!!! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 202.4
