Please be honest with me.....
SoccerMomma73 replied to philippians413's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, yes, you are the only one EVER to cheat!!! I was supposed to be on liquids for 2 weeks, about day 9 I added crackers with a pureed spread on them....I shouldn't have but I was starving (or so I thought). I was careful, ate small amounts and chewed thoroughly and was fine...THEN...because I was doing fine, I started adding mushies early, scrambled eggs, creamed or scalloped potatoes, etc...I didn't do anything too crazy, no hamburger for me. My nurses advice (pre-op, I never confessed post-op) was if you slip-up, brush it off and get back on track the next day. As long as you don't get something stuck and have to have it removed no permanent damage done BUT, you are taking a risk. You know you're doing things you're not supposed to and even though you're not eating as much as before you are falling back into bad behaviors, the exact behaviors that got you here in the first place. SOOoooOOo STOP! You know what you need to do, start doing it, find something healthy (and safe) to replace the burger and get back to where you should be. Once you're fully healed and back to "normal" there will be lots of time to nibble on a burger, a couple weeks without will suck but it's all about the end result. Good luck! -

Dirty lil secret or business as usual??
SoccerMomma73 replied to JustAskinThx's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I have to agree. I can see them possibly charging one or two hundred simply because it's a lot of work to get this surgery through insurance and I'm assuming they are trying to weed out who is really serious about it vs. who just had a random "I want to lose weight" thought...4K is nuts. (FYI mine had no program fee) -
Crunchy-raw veggies, celery, cauliflower, peapods, etc? You won't get to eat them for a while post op so enjoy!

Thank ya, thank ya, I signed up last week but now i"m on the spreadsheet too. Thanks for your hard work.

My Husband Is Driving me Nuts!
SoccerMomma73 replied to titiay30's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I actually probably would have gnawed the arm off first so he couldn't reach the wings and I could have them all.... Willpower problems? Who me?? Sometimes you just want to talk...you just need to get it off your chest. We all have a right to our opinions but sometimes I feel like a couple people around here are under the impression that their opinion is always right and that everyone must be exactly like them no matter what.... And if someone doesn't agree with them 100% of the time they are either bad people, stupid, or ignorant.... And it just ain't so. Don't get me wrong, most of the people on this board are bright, caring, and hysterically funny but sometimes I want to just scream "CHILL!" If they were my kid they'd be in the corner right now in time out for being rude. -

SoccerMomma73 replied to titiay30's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh come on, she was 10 days post op and just venting...Which she has every right to do. It's not like she was banning wings from her home for all of eternity but at 10 days post op when you're trapped in bandster hell. I can see how having something that smells so delicious would be, err, irritating to say the least. I probably would have just gnawed his arm off if it had been me. Can't we all just shake hands and go back to our lives? -
Glued Incisions-Removing Glue
SoccerMomma73 replied to banded213's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you're referring to the suger-glue like stuff they use instead of tape sometimes, it will wear off a couple weeks after surgery. I think within 2 weeks I was glue-free. I just washed with soap and water and my "poof" in the shower. -
I don't understand!!!
SoccerMomma73 replied to Bell1138's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 2 months post-op and down 34 pounds...the first couple weeks were HELL...I thought I'd made a huge mistake and would be starving forever. After my first fill things were better but not great. I could still eat much more than I should and if I tried to eat a really small portion like I was supposed to I was still starving, if I ate a small portion I was hungry again in 2 or 3 hours....so I ate more than I should but not as much as I would have in the past and tried to fill myself with healthy stuff and just hang in there until my next fill. I lost 4 pounds in 4 weeks. Not great but still 4 pounds. I had my second fill 2 days ago and I'm in heaven, I know it's likely temporary and my band will loosen and I'll need another fill. However right now I can eat essentially whatever I want just in a very small portion compared to my old life. I ate lunch at 1:00 and wasn't hungry until I was making dinner at 5:00, had some Water during the afternoon but no snacking and no desire to.... In 2 months I have not thrown up once. Ive only been stuck once and it was because I was in a rush and took a huge bite. I can't eat anything without problem I just have to take small bites and chew...If I eat too much I get chest pressure and I don't like it so when I start to feel full at all I quit, it's enough to satisfy me without stuffing me. There are rules to follow and foods to watch, the weight will come off quicker with you exercise, eat healthy food, and drink water. I could sit and drink milkshakes all day if I wanted, but I won't...that doesn't mean I don't steal a sip or two of my son's but I won't get my own and I won't drink much. That's where will power comes in! However! The fact that I'm not freaking starving all the time like pre-band makes it so much easier. Good luck, work through it and use the support you find here. A healthier you is so worth it! -
Woohoo!!! People with no compassion or concern for others just don't belong in medicine. I hate that she got fired but she doesn't need to be there. Good for you! Aren't you glad it's a short month??? Miralax is a gift from heaven. It saved my life and my ass the weeks pre-op and then until I could actually eat food with fiber (YAY BEANS!!!!) again during the mushies... Congrats again, keep up the good work!

So, shake=good Cracker=not so good. Water=good pureed soup=good cheez-it (sp?) stolen from son at dinner=not so good. I guess he wasn't joking when he said liquids today.

4 weeks Post Banding..Lost 22lbs..Now Gaining!!
SoccerMomma73 replied to NoelG's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yup, I'm similar, I'll lose 2-3 in 1 week, gain back 1 or 2, then hold steady a couple weeks, I guess while everything evens out. After my initial post-op loss when I started semi-normal foods, I gained 5 in a week, even though I was exercising and eating 1200-1300 calories a day. Sometimes I think my body is 2-3 weeks behind my scales. -
OMG you are hot, you go girl!!!!

Easter Challenge Anyone?
SoccerMomma73 replied to mrsgriffin2u's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me too, me too!! I'm at 262, I failed the VD challenge...I shouldn't say fail, I didn't fail, I continued to lose, just slowly so I'm shooting for 10 pounds by Easter which will put me at 252, 2 pounds from the lowest I've been in 10 years (more like 13 years but close enough). Good luck everyone! -
You have to be provided copies of your records if you request them. IT IS THE LAW....they do not give originals and they are allowed to charge a small fee but if you ask for copies they must provide them. If they truly have refused you need to contact the medical board and let them know his office is breaking the law. Now, I'm not saying walk in screaming and demanding them right that second. It may take a day or two to get the copies made, and, as I said they may charge you for them but you are entitled to copies if you request them. After all, they are your records....Good luck.

Fill Number 2 in 4 hours....fingers crossed this gets me a bit more restriction! I've only lost 4 pounds in the last 4 weeks and have this horrible feeling my doc is going to nag (he's a good nagger). I know, I know, the band is designed for 1-2 lbs weight loss a week but I still feel like he's going to give me hell. Wish me luck!

errr....4.4+2.1=6.5 not 6.3, sheesh

How do you make Refried Beans?
SoccerMomma73 replied to Mickey527's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
FYI, 1 order of taco bells pintos and cheese has 180 calories, 7 grams of fat, 6 grams of fiber, and 10 grams of protein. Hope this helps. -
Negative Reactions...from other WLS patients???
SoccerMomma73 replied to ChicagoWinter's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had to attend 1 pre-op support group meeting. The meetings at my hospital are combined, with band, bypass, etc. I felt like the entire meeting was spent with the bypass group telling us how much better their surgery was and how we were wasting our money getting a lap band. I too don't understand, I would think that as obese people seeking a healthier lifestyle we'd support eachother, no matter which direction we choose, apparently that ain't the case! Good luck to all of you, keep up the good work!
