  1. That whole bob and the rat saga...ewww, ewww, ewww... I took my ticker back to 75 pounds which is where I was pre-dehydration (and what I was back to the day after the unfill and 24 hours of heavy drinking (in the good way of course). I will NOT add back on the 2-3 I've gained since because they're temporary, really, they are, I promise!!! The 5 was just Fluid and never really gone, just wishful thinking :tt2: Congrats principal Shad!!! If we're bad we don't get detention do we? And welcome newbies!!! Congrats on your decision and progress so far, banded life is an interesting little journey, enjoy!

    My Dr. is Fill Happy

My first was 4.4...they usually try to do 1/2 for the next then 1/2 of that until you get happy good luck!
  3. Just lay it all out, what you've tried, what hasn't worked, and what your future as an obese person holds....Good luck, I'll be thinking about you!
  4. Just when I think Steve has snuck out in the middle of the night and gone fishing, WHAM, he reminds me he's still there. Nice to have ya back old buddy, nice to have ya back.

    Is this me?

Yay for you!!! I just graduated from the women's section to the "normal" section last weekend and about killed myself trying to try everything on. It was beyond awesome!!

    Puree's are YUCKY!!

I tried purees and like you found them repulsive, I just stuck with liquids making them thicker and thicker until I could go to mushies. Sorry I don't have a lot of suggestions, just know that you're not the only one who felt like this and you will survive! And Ohhhh mushies were oh so good once I got there!!

My new 9 week cross training

You are my hero... Or you're crazy.... Or you're my crazy hero, but whatever, YOU GO GIRL!!!

Need unfill or is this normal?

As long as you are keeping fluids down you're okay to play with it for a few days and see if it settles down. Anytime I starting vomiting/PBing, I go back on liquids for a day or two then SLOWLY progress to soft/mushies to everything time to settle down. I've discovered sometimes my band/stomach/stoma get irritated by something and if I don't back off and give it a brek it just gets worse and worse. If you're having trouble with liquids then you need to speak with your surgeon ASAP.
  9. I would go and enjoy yourself, try to follow the rules, then come home, get a fill, and get serious about it. People react so differently to fills. You'd likely be fine, but, coming from someone who has completely obstructed and had to have an emergency unfill, it ain't pretty! I, personally, would wait until I was home, on my home turf, in my comfy zone before I got my first. Good luck!
  10. Yay on the promotion, boo on the job bid thingamajiggy. My slight unfill has reminded me, beyond a shadow of a doubt, why I have to have a band....sheesh. I've gotta get my behind in gear or I'm going to explode in the 2.5 weeks before my refill. I have NOOOOOooOOOOo self control at all. It's just pathetic (but oh how delicious was the biscuit at Red Lobster??? OHHHh how delicious). Have a lovely weekend, hope ya'll are a cooler than we are down here!
  11. I'm so sorry Leigha....maybe things will be looking up a bit and it won't be an issue after all. I'll keep you both in my prayers.

    Nervous...

My band likes spring rolls, even when I'm tight tight....USUALLY mexican isn't an issue (except rice)...I was never a big soda drinker so can't help ya there....the trade offs are worth it. You'll do great!

    /Not losing weight???

Your screen name says it all....LoseItQuick... The band is awesome, magical, wonderful, however, it doesn't work over night. I went into banding assuming that the first few months were where the big numbers came off. Not so. You have a long road ahead of you. You did not get obese over night and you won't get to a healthy weight over night. Take a step back and look at your success so far. You've lost 17 pounds in a very short amount of time. You are doing great. I was told to expect a 1-2 pound loss per week. In reality I'm a little ahead of that but the first month post op I didn't lose much at all...then I found restriction and boy did things change! If you are watching your diet, exercising, eating healthy, etc, the weight will come off, but it does take time. Fills help, but the vast majority of us require several fills before we reach restriction and really start to notice the pounds coming off. Focus on healing and adapting a healthy lifestyle. And, although it is hard, try to be patient. Good luck, I know it sucks right now but you will get there!.
  14. I'm now officially a misses, I have abandoned the women's department and will never look back! WOOHOO!!!! Just had to share that with the world.
  15. Ya know, I have no right to talk with my formerly super-obese self but I'm going to anyway...I watch biggest loser and I cheer for 'em all, well, most of 'em, but constantly think OMG how can they get up there dressed in that knowing the entire world is watching!?!?! And yeah, they have impressive moobs sometimes too. I am going to get on the scale tomorrow and whine. After the slight unfill I'm at a happy happy place where I can eat, well, anything, at any time, in any amount. While kinda cool for a change I've gotta get back on track of the new non-women's sized clothing will be waiting in the back corner of the closet for me to lose what I gain. Hormones and a loose band, it ain't purty. Since I've been somewhat of a freaky bandster these last couple months, he wants to leave me where I am for a month before adding anything back. Okay, whine off.
  16. Did you just tell Bob to show his boobs?

    Weird feeling in my throat

From time to time I get that feeling, it usually lasts a few days then goes away. I had it for about 6 weeks post op as well. It seems to correlate to times when I am tighter (i.e. about to start my period). My doc isn't worried about it either although I've never asked for a full explanation of what causes it.... I'm just shy of 7 months post-op. Hope this helps!
  18. Leigha-I was showing my 6 year old your pictures and explaining that you'd had the same thing done that I had...he looked at me WIDE EYED and said "you're gonna get THAT skinny?!?!?" Consider it a compliment that you are THAT skinny!!!!!

To fill or not to fill...

If you're still losing consistantly without struggling and don't feel like you're starving I would wait a bit and see how it goes. If you are really struggling too not eat too much or really struggling to not eat at night ten I'd go in for a little tweaking. Good luck you are doing AWESOME!!!!

to band or not to band.....

I had considered bariatric surgery for years but every time I got serious about it I guilted myself out of doing it (kind of a "what the hell is wrong me with me, why can't I lose weight like everyone else on the planet does" mentality). When I finally decided I WAS GOING TO DO THIS...I felt like such a failure. Had it really gotten so far out of control I was willing to voluntarily let someone cut me open and wrap plastic around my stomach???? That lasted about 2 days and then the sense of relief kicked in. I had a couple really bad days where I beat myself up but got past it and haven't looked back. I wish I'd gone through with it sooner, maybe I'd be sitting her at goal instead of having 60 more pounds to lose. Who knows  Trust your instincts but don't rush. Get your questions answered and make sure you are comfortable with your decision. Good luck!

    Everything has changed.

I went shopping in the non-fat girl section today for the first time since I was about 14 or so....I all but cried in the dressing room (I'd actually brought some 16Ws in to try on to because I was convinced the plain 16s wouldn't fit). And I've recently discovered these 2 lumpy things on either side of my neck, I think they are called collar bones but I've never (personally) seen 'em before so I'm not positive.... Leigha-you are an inspiration to all of us both with your success and your attitude...I'm sorry things are such a day to day struggle for you. I'll keep you in my prayers! :-P

    Woman no more!!!!

I know, I know!!! I'm so excited!!! Lane Bryant, while I thank them for being there and keeping me out of mumus the last 20 years, can kiss my ass! Banded life is good!!
  23. Holy crap Leigha! (meant in a good way naturally)

  25. Official SUBWAY Restaurants' Nutrition Information So, there's the subway nutriontional value if you don't believe us and think we're being cliquish...I read a similar discussion the other day on Olive Garden being evil and not band friendly and us never being able to eat there....Yeah, uh, not so much. Now I could go there and kill myself on bread, bread, and more bread but I can also go there and eat a relatively healthy and completely pain free meal. It is what you make it. When I hit the lottery I'm buying all of us matching cheerleader uniforms with a big "B" on the chest...you can decide if it stands for Bob, Brian, or Band. So truthfully I just always wanted a body that would look good in a cheerleading outfit and I'm using this as my excuse.
