    Best Snack Foods?

My mid morning snack is either carrots or apple slices (sometimes dipped in Greek yogurt). The hard dense foods stay with me longer so I'm not starving at lunchtime and eat like a piggy.

    Best Hot Cocoa Protein Drink

So I'm sitting here drinking my first cup of the Proti diet hot cocoa and I'm loving it....scalding hot with no protein clumping. Woohoo!!!! So looking at the ingredients it's basically milk protein concentrate, cocoa powder, plus some stuff (gelatin, corn syrup, etc). There's nothing magic in it. I'm thinking....you could do this with non-fat powdered milk and cocoa and save a bunch of $$. It's 90 calories (delicious calories) , 5 carbs, 15 protein. Anyone tried to do this homemade?

My dad (whom is a goofball) has a tin of nuts by his back door. He puts a few nuts out every day to amuse the dogs while the squirrels come to eat (okay, truly it's sadistic and drives the dogs ape-shitted but it amuses us). After Doing this for months we looked up one day and there was a squirrel at the sliding glass door, paws and nose against the glass, staring at the tin of nuts....'yo! Hey! We know they're in there!!! Gimme some nuts dude, come on!!!' Now the little rats do it all the time.
  11. Seriously.....tell me I can't have it and even if it's something I HATE I will go crazy wanting it . I'm like a little kid

    Fabulous February Post-Op's

Ha! 194 this am, lost another so woohoo!!!! I'd love to be 154 just so I can be 'normal' however I'll be happy at 175. Hell, I'm fairly content now, but I know I can do a little better . We may not be perfect but we're so much better off now than 9 months ago!!!!!
  13. I'm 9 months post RNY, 4 years post band....not sure I qualify as a honeymooner??? But I like the honeymooners! They have an innocence and excitement that a lot of old timers lose so I say post away youngsters!

    Fabulous February Post-Op's

9 month check up. All is well. Have to start taking my B12 shots twice a month instead of once but otherwise labs are fab. I may be one of the slowest losers from our group but as long as it keeps coming off, I'll be happy. His only advice was to not fall in to old habits over the holidays.....
  15. My son was 5 when I had the band and 8 when I got my RNY. He was allowed to visit both times, though I don't really know why......it's was the pick me up I needed most.

We have a small family. I've been divorced since the kiddo was born (err, 9 years) and my only sibling is on month 3 of a 12 month deployment to Afghanistan. His wife is working that day so it'll just be my folks, the boy, and I. And we like each other so, yay! No drama! It's when the relations from Jersey decide to join us that things get not so fun. Those people are just weird :/

  21. If I forbid foods, I will obsess about the forbidden and be a fool. The ONLY thing I've banned from the house is also the big bags of chips....tried it twice, did bad bad things twice. However, I currently gave a 50 pack of the single serving chips in the cabinet for my son, but like you, won't touch them.... Goofy. The difference now is that I can have 3 or 4 bites of something bad and that's all I want (except chips). The uncontrollable urge to eat an entire cheesecake is gone. We've had a bowl of Halloween candy on the table for three weeks. I've eaten a miniature mr. Goodbar and 2 starbursts....previously that whole thing woulda been in my belly the first weekend.

    The Slow Losers Thread

so, I'll make stretch here and you are averaging losing a pound a day...that pretty freaking phenomenal. Your body is adapting to some huge changes...relax and give it time. (PS I've lost 60 in 9 months....enjoy your success)

    The Slow Losers Thread

So I'm 9 months and 60 pounds...sounds okay but over the last 5 months I've lost 10 pounds....I'm averaging 2 pounds a month at this point with about 40 pounds to go (though I'll be okay with 25). My theory is this, I feel good, I eat what I want just smaller portions, I exercise 2-3 days a week, moderately (and sometimes I skip!) I am comfortable, do not feel deprived or like I'm forcing this to happen. It just is sort of coming off naturally. (Well as naturally as I can being post RNY!). I can easily maintain my current lifestyle therefore I should be able to easily maintain the weight loss I experience. I'm okay with this! I expected to be closer to goal by now, I have counterparts that have lost well over 100 pounds during the same timeframe with similar stats....oh well! This is what I've got and I'll take it!!!

. I'm lucky to be in a group that sees us in a good light. They're trying to get to where there are 2PAs for every 1 MD. REALLY cuts the overhead...but yes, doctors are a tricky group, you have to convince them it's their brilliant idea or the buck...gotta love em...cuz it's illegal to kill em.

    Anger Anyone?

I don't have a good article but adipose tissue produces estrogen....as the fat cells shrink all that damn stuff is released and we become super-psycho-PMSy x a zillion.....it does get better after the initial surge of weight loss....the first 6 weeks post-op I was nuts :/
