    Colonoscopy After Lapband Surgery

Nothing special, totally different end of the plumbing. Shouldn't have any effect in the colonoscopy at all!

    Lap Band Removal

I'm a candidate for anything but another band but personally am just more comfortable with the bypass. Im a family practice physician assistant and fairly knowledgeable on both, just feel that the bypass is a better fit for me personally.

New Life Started & Now I Need Advice

Relax, breathe. You have a ton of fluid from the IV, it takes 5 or 6 days for that to come off. You have to eat an extra 3500 calories to gain a pound. Is there any way possible you've done that at this point? Nope, didn't think so! It will all be okay, stop watching the scale and focus on healing

Okay, so without name calling, finger pointing, and generalized emotional responses (emotions do run high when discussing bariatric surgery) let me say, none of us are judge and jury. That is left to the physicians and (frighteningly) the insurance companies. Yes she was originally denied but obviously has a physician that supports her in this Quest. Yes she opened it up for public criticism when she started this thread but really, now you're just enjoying picking on people. Yes I know what insulin is, yes I know what insulin resistance is, yes I have many patients who are diabetic, pre-diabetic, have insulin resistance, and/or are on insulin. Yes I am associated and well educated on insulin, its function, its side effects, etc. Yes many of my patients with insulin problems are overweight and/or obese, but not all. Several are normal weight, for some it is easy to maintain that weight. For some it is a constant daily struggle, but they do it, and they succeed. Some may say you are using your insulin status as an excuse to justify why you deserve this more than others. And yes some people on here have no knowledge of basic chemistry. Our lives journeys have taken us down different paths. I know chemistry but my grammar and spelling stink. Some around here are kind, compassionate, and empathetic, some are silly, some are obnoxious, some are whiny and annoying, and some are just plain simple folks who didn't have a chance to get higher education and/or weren't lucky enough to be born brilliant and I sometimes wonder how some have managed to live their lives this long and not accidentally step off a cliff or walk in front of a bus. Most simply want help or support. Very few are here to judge others. All that said, dude, stop being a jerk. You're having fun being inflammatory and stirring the hornets nest. For the rest of you, I'll tell you what I tell my 8 year old who has a little girl next to him in class who is always pushing his buttons "just ignore it!!!". He's obviously discovered how fun it is to rile the whole forum up and is read to pounce at any chance.

FYI at 5 feet, 211 lbs her BMI is 41....by most doctor and insurance standards she does qualify.

I'm Just Waiting On Insurance Approval

My first week on the liquid diet I lost like 10 pounds, most of it Fluid. I've discovered when I eaten"normal" I get way too much sodium (I don't add salt, there's just so much in everything!) but when I'm on the shakes I get very little sodium and all my excess fluid goes down the drain. The first 3 days I was constantly running to the restroom to pee, my coworkers were highly amused. (they're twisted sick type people, gotta love em)

How Much Am I Expected To Lose

Oh goodness, it's so variable I don't think you can really compare. Depends on metabolism, eating habits, exercise habits, how strict you are with the diet during healing, how much Protein you get, how much Water you get, have you been sick, do you aveother health problems (thyroid or diabetes) that might impact....I just don't know that anyone rlse can really predict.... Good luck!!!

How Is A Slipped Band Fixed?

Mine slipped down and a portion of stomach was herniated up through it. With the position and severity my surgeon said essentially zero chance this would resolve. During removal surgery I had significant inflammation and scarring and he says the portion that herniated would have eventually strangulated and died. Yay!

    Cottage Cheese Shooters!

I think it's like a jello shot with cottage cheese instead of alcohol???
  18. No... But since I had my band removed 3 weeks ago due to slip and now have to wait 6 months for a revision to bypass, (because my stomach was so jacked up from the band) I can give you discouraging words on the band . You have to be comfortable with your choice. If you were doubting the band, then it wasn't the right choice for you. Good luck!!!!

Told I Need A Conversion. Anyone Done This?

Check out RNY talk, it's the bypass version of lapband talk. There's a forum for band to bypass revision. My band was removed 3 weeks ago secondary to slip, I get my bypass in February.....

    Dilated Pouch And Unfill

At least you have a chance to fix things now guys!!!! I had no dilation, just straight to slipsville and urgent band removal within days! With the dilated pouch YOU have the chance to save your band. You have the chance to work this tool you've been given. A dilated pouch can go back to normal. Follow your doctors rules to a T though!!! You have no room for error and cheating at this point, a bite of a big old Nasty cheeseburger may be all it take to cause a slip. Surgery is should be the leat of your worries, a healthy you should e the goal. The band is not the easy way out and if anyone told you this, they lied . Take care of yourselves. Take care of your bands. You can all laugh at me in 6 months when I have another surgery because my stomach was too jacked up to do a revision at the time of my band removal.
