I have always been tall for a girl. I wasn't ever "big" though. Through high school, I was active and did lots of sports. I never had a problem with my weight until I had children. I wasn't stick skinny at all, but I wasn't fat. I was just average size. Then, I had two children 13 months apart, and that did it! I developed hypothyroidism, which makes it nearly impossible to lose any weight, got high blood pressure, and began a list of medication. I got up to 243, and said no more. I decided to look into lap-band, because i had heard a lot of good things about it. I found Dr. Bovard, told him my problems, and he told me that I was the perfect candidate for surgery! My insurance letter was submitted on a Friday, and came back Monday approved! I have no problems at all with any of the process. I am a year post op now, and I am disappointend in my progress. It's totally my fault though, because I go to the gym for a month, eat really well, and then something happens that always makes me back slide. Family issues, traveling where you can't always eat right and work out, something. Then, it takes me FOREVER to get back on track. As of 2009, I thought I would never have to make another new year's resolution to lose the weight...but I guess I will again this year!! In 2010 I will resolve to stay on task and not let anything come between me and my goals!! I have lost 46 pounds so far....which is DEFINATLY not enough!!!!!!!!!!!! I have 47 more pounds to go....let's hope it doesn't take another whole year!!!
