    Dallas area physicians

I went to Dr. Benavides's free seminar on the band and came away impressed, he really does give you the impression that he does want to help. I'm not banded as of yet but i've signed up to get the process started with him and his team. Good luck on whomever you choose!

    Patient gains from loss

Taquela Hilton lost 137 pounds in 10 days, but her weight-loss method is not one she would recommend to anybody. Most of the weight was removed through surgery Jan. 10 in the form of a 93-pound ovarian cyst. Apparently she was trying to get her weight down to do gastric bypass and discovered she had this http://www.tulsaworld.com/NewsStory.asp?ID=070128_Ne_A13_Patie28429# :faint: :faint: :faint:

I Know this is a BIG NO! But...????

Doesn't sodas possibly cause erosion of the band? Please correct me if i'm wrong.
  5. My sis in law had gastric bypass and while she had lost quite a bit of weight she gained a lot of it back, mainly because she didn't bother to stick with the proper eating and exercise. On the other hand tho, I had two co workers do the gastric bypass and lost a ton of weight and both look great. My main reasons i'm choosing the band vs bypass is 1. can get fills to restrict 2. ain't gonna get gutted like a fish 3. reversable if needed 4. out only a few days vs weeks Obviously i haven't been banded as of yet so who knows, my look on it could totally change.. BUT, after seeing what my sis in law went through I wouldn't do it. just my .02 :guess

    For Just Us Guys

What's up guys, I haven't been banded but i'll have my initial consultation with the surgeon on 02/01 and hopefully from there it'll be a quick turn around time for me to get banded. Randy
  7. Would anyone be willing to share how much energy they felt they had right after Post-Op and especially well after their surgery was over?? I'm just curious how much energy one has on a daily basis given the reduction of food intake..

    Suicidal thoughts with obesity?

I myself voted as being one who took it seriously, especially during several moments when I was younger. I know from the time I was in jr high to a few years out of high school I was suicidal and having to take antidepressants along with a few stint with counselors. It was really hard for me, growing up in a small town and in school kids could be VERY VERY cruel. Funny thing is, is that I wasn't really that overweight to begin with back then but it didn't matter when your the 'little big' guy in a small town. To this day, sometimes when I think about it, I still get those old feelings that come back to haunt me from those experiences, it almost feels like it just happened yesterday. Another problem was that I never felt normal, I saw a bunch of my friends able to get dates, girlfriends..etc; I was lucky to have gotten the couple of first dates that I had gotten and nothing more. While others were able to lead a normal life at what should've been the time of your life at that age, it never really was for me in many aspects. Things of course are better for me now but I still feel those emotional scars that honestly, even if I can drop this weight with the band, I wonder will ever fully heal...i'm just hoping that if/when I can do this and get to the weight I feel I should be at, I won't ever feel a need to revisit those bad memories ever again.. I'm sure i'm not the only one who's been down this road, if not still on it. I just hope for any of you who's still contemplating suicide I hope and pray that you decide to LIVE on despite whatever that ails you and do whatever it takes, regardless of the odds or naysayers that stand in your way.

Good songs to work out to...

Van Halen - Right now, Humans Being, I'm The One, Top of the World, Unchained AC/DC - Who Made Who, Thunderstruck Judas Priest - You've got another thing comin Nine Inch Nails - The Hand that Feeds Stone Temple Pilots - Sex Type Thing, Heaven & Hot Rods Velvet Revolver - Slither U2 - Vertigo, Walk On, Elevation Sammy Hagar - Shaka Doobie Army of Anyone - Goodbye Rocky IV Soundtrack - Burning Heart, Heart's On Fire, Eye of the Tiger, War, Training Montage I really recommend the soundtrack to the new Rocky Balboa movie too, it mostly has the songs from Rocky IV but also has the original theme 'Gonna Fly Now', plus in it at the end of most songs it has clips from all the Rocky movies, there's one that really gets me going at I make myself think that he's saying it to me (instead of it being a clip from the movie) "Your gonna have to go through hell, worst than any nightmare that you've ever dreamed...but in the end, I know you'll be the one standing, you know what you gotta do...do it...DO IT" Yeah I know it's cheesy but it really motivates me

Good songs to work out to...

I use it, i'm more into downloading torrents tho and getting an entire discography vs single songs now. If you use limewire, kazaa, bearshare..etc to get your songs, i highly suggest you d/l peerguardian to use in conjunction to prevent you getting busted by the RIAA or any of their counterparts and also set your p2p program to turn off sharing.. It works on the packet level so it will block any incoming connection based on the IP address of that peer your attempting to share with or share from. BELIEVE ME WHEN I SAY THIS, when I first got peerguardian and looked at the list of ip's blocked when i tried to d/l certain songs from limewire I was in shock...everything from certain law firms to the DoD (dept of defense), so when you don't think anyone is paying attention to little ol you downloading a song here or there or sharing songs...DON'T BET ON IT. Granted you have a better chance of getting hit by a bolt of lightning vs getting sued by the RIAA....it still something i would consider mandatory using when d/l'd pirated anything. Take it from someone who knows and also works for an ISP. Randy

Looking for Bandsters near Denton, TX

Hi, I live in Denton but haven't been banded as of yet. I went to Dr.Benavides seminar this past Thursday and signed up to get the ball rolling for a Feb 1st initial consultation. My doc originally directed me towards Dr.Marsden but I found the website both these doc's 'share' and attended the seminar hosted by Dr. B and figured i'd just go with him. Unfortunately I won't be able to attend this one because of a prior commitent but hopefully I can attend another in the near future. Randy
