I have been struggling with weight loss my whole life... In Sept. 2008 I went to a seminar and spoke with the Dr. who deemed I was a perfect candidate.. Then they told me the price... 18,000! I went into sticker shocke and decided I could lose weight on my own as I have lost and gained about 1000 pounds in my lifetime... I knew I could do it... Well, fast forward to November of 2009... I had a serious injury in a fall in the mountains while hiking and found out I needed knee surgery... It was during this time that I could tell from the fit of  my clothing that I had not lost any weight in the last year so I decided that while I was out from work already I would finally take the step to a new healthier fitter me... Two reasons... One, no one would know becasue of my already medical issues and two, becasue I'm not getting any younger and with the knee surgery, I knew losing weight would be the best thing for helping my knee recover... So I called the dr. back and went in and said "hey remember me from a year ago?" and I had a new consutation and (No surprise here) I had gained 10 pounds since the last visit... Well, Here it is three weeks after the surgery, and the band has not been filled yet... I have lost 15 pounds and all this with very minimal excercise as I had the reconstructive knee surgery one week after the band surgery and I'm still hobbling around... I hope to be able to ask questions from others who have been doing this for a longer period of time and I hope that someday, I can help others who are struggling with the weight and the decision on whether to have lapband surgery or not...
