    June Update

Debra...Just read your blog and thanks for the great recipes. My surgery was 5 months ago and I've lost 38.4 lbs. Everything is going well...I've had 3 adjustments since having my surgery but can truly say that the last adjustment is more noticeable. The only issue that I'm having now is my gallbladder...but from what the Doc said...because of weighloss and the drastic change in diet...it happens. But other then that I'm feeling good and healthy and energetic. Keep posting those good recipes to your blog...do you happen to have any really good chili recipes. I like to make spegetti sauce and to get the benefit of lots of veggies I add carrots and zucchini in mine but I put them through the food processor so that it's just little bits...sometimes I will add a few brussel sprouts to the mix...it helps thickens up the mixture, so once you put the tomatoes and tomato juice and it simmers for a few hours you can't tell there there but it taste oh so good. (my sister was finiky so we tried all kinds of tricks for her to get more veg and she loved this sauce and couldn't tell even as she got older) Thanks again for the recipies...am going to try the black bean soup...sounds yummy. Joey

    June Update

Well, My surgery was on the 12th of May,2010 and I had a few minor problems but all and all every thing went well. On the 28th of April I started my preop diet of 4 bottles of Diabetic Boost and water. It was rough...I will admit to cheating a few times because I just could not stand being so hungry. A few on the first week I had some saltines and the odd tsp of peanut butter. The second week I succumbed to peanut butter once, lol. The first 3 days I was home I could not keep anything down. I came home on Thursday the 13th of May but by Saturday night I was able to keep chicken broth down oh and it tasted so good. I don't thing I will ever be able to drink another bottle of boost ever again. We are the 6th of June and I am down 26.6 and my energy level is stating to get higher and I'm starting to walk, at the High School Track, in the mornings, mine you I have not been able to since we have had rain since Thursday. At the moment I'm off work, took 6 weeks to recoup but I've decided that I will take a few more weeks off. Oye, I dear say that my boss will not be happy but I have to take care of myself because no body else will. So that's my progress as of today, and I'm happy.

    post-op

I am doing much better. I have been able to keep fluids down since Saturday. I still spit up a bit last night but not so much. I think that I was either having and adverse effect to the anesthesia and my sister who is a respiratory tech thinks that the spasms that I have been getting in my esophagus was from the intubation. I'm having some Soup at the moment and it tastes good. I'm still not able to eat/drink what I should but hopefully I will hear from the Dr. office Thanks everybody...I'm down 20 lbs as of today, from my preop weight which feels good.

    post-op

I am taking small sips and I have called the Dr., spoke with the secretary and the Dr. was suppose to get back to me but no one called me back. I am going to see if I can tough it out for the weekend. I will continue to drink and hope that at some point it will decided to stay down and I was so looking forward to drinking something other then Boost and crystal light, which is what I had for the 2 week pre op...thanks for all you help
  7. I'm on day 3 of my post-op band surgery and I am having a hard time to keep any fluids down...I drink and them 10 or 15 mins later I start feeling foam fill my esophagus then mouth and have to spit them I start bringing up most of what I just drank...Is this unusual is it because I have excess gas in my stomach...any suggestions out there

    Well Day 3...

I'm on day 3 also and have not really been able to keep anything down, like you say, it just sits on my chest and then I start getting foam in mouth and end up bringing everything up again...I don't want to get dehydrated so I continue drinking...drinking water, Gatorade and i tried some broth but it tasted gross...I have no pain, but still gassy and a bit bloated at surgical sites. I'm not discouraged but getting tired of walking around with a bedpan in case I need to spit

Well the date has been chosen for my lapband surgery, May 12...I'm a bit nervous:crying: about the whole thing...last time I had surgery was when I got my appendix out...oh, about 30 years ago...and I've been overweight for so long that it's kind of a comfort thing I guess...but this is good, it will be good for me, hopefully get me back on track...but I thing I'm more nervous for the pre operation prep...my Dr. has be on Boost only for the 2 weeks prior...oy...it's gonna be a tuff 2 weeks:smile2:
